Can't stand Ribeiro, but I do like the five points for my fantasy team.

^ This is by far the best option mentioned. Good call Heaton.

No, not an even split. Somewhere around 50 for Ozzie, 30 for Conklin seems about right to me. We need Ozzie to be fresh for the playoffs, but he also deserves to play the majority of the games as the starter. The defense will get much better than it has been in five games, and Ozzie's numbers will likewise.

Holland's stance on Enforcers: Once and For All

Downey played zero games in the playoffs and that worked out quite nicely too. -
Holland's stance on Enforcers: Once and For All

You have got to be kidding me. Those "soft" Euros just won a championship. JLA isn't struggling to sell tickets because of the lack of a frickin enforcer. I don't base going to hockey games on how many fights I may see, and I am fairly safe in assuming most people do not either. The economy is simply awful in Detroit/Southeast Michigan and Northwest Ohio, where most of the Red Wings fanbase resides. The empty seats have everything to do with people doing their best to save money. Your theory quite frankly is baseless. Nice attempt though to sugarcoat your belief that enforcers are the answer to the problem. -

Did you not read the article? How often has your scenario happened to the Red Wings? -
When Z is healthy, Kris Draper is the 4th line center. Did you forget about him having one of the best faceoff percentages in the league or the defensive ability that he provides? I don't think that qualifies as useless.
-
Yes, we definitely need Mac or Downey to "prevent" this occurance from happening.
-
Congrats to the other co-winners for Week 2.

The Red Wings "problems" through five games have absolutely nothing to do with a lack of toughness. Aaron Downey and Darren McCarty can't fix the poor defensive coverage or help eliminate the careless turnovers and sloppy play that have plagued the Wings at times. These issues will fix themselves - Babcock will make sure of it. I am all for Downey or Mac getting playing time if the situation calls, but to make the assumption that the Red Wings are "struggling" because they aren't tough enough is nonsense.

Well said. I am glad to see so many perfect members post here. It must be nice to never make mistakes or have a bad day. The Red Wings aren't exempt from bad games. Being a fan means taking the good with the bad. We get a lot more good than bad with the Red Wings.

Why Lilja? Brett Lebda is easily the worst defenseman on the team. Meech should really have Lebda's spot when Stuart comes back. Lilja provides far more to the Red Wings than Lebda ever will.

I still don't understand how anyone can argue it wasn't a penalty. That was clearly too many men on the ice. The Red Wings were far from good again tonight, but at least they showed some heart coming back in the third. IMO McCreary is the best ref in the league. I would gladly take him for 82 games.

Hossa has officially arrived. What an unbelievable play by Datsyuk to set-up the goal. That was an incredible move at the side of the net to get the pass to Hossa. 300th career goal is an overtime game winner. Not a bad time to score your first goal with the Red Wings.

I think we all miss the ZDH line because we know how good it was together. Like Babcock has said though before, keeping the Euro Twins apart gives the Red Wings more balance and helps to utilize their depth at forward. It may not look great through four games, but it makes the Red Wings a tougher team to play against as the season progresses. If Hossa doesn't click with Pavel over time, then it's a nice luxury to be able to go back to ZDH. I am still of the opinion that Hossa compliments Datsyuk perfectly. It honestly would be a shame to have a player like Hossa and to have him play the wing with Val Filppula as his center. It's easy to get upset that the lines haven't clicked through four games, but it's far too early to make the claim that Hossa and Datsyuk aren't a good combination together. * To clarify, I like Val Filppula before I get accused of bashing him.

Ohio State will prove the Big Ten is still their conference to lose. 23-21 Buckeyes

I find Avery to be very entertaining. That being said, I would never want him back with the Red Wings.

In a couple of months, this thread will look as silly as some of the panic threads from last February. Give Hossa a chance guys. It has been four games.
-
Why would that be different than any other game there Mr. Positive?

I am glad to see Meech finally get an opportunity to play. I have been advocating to get Meech in over Lebda - I would rather not see it happen at the expense of Stuart though. Hopefully Meech performs well and takes Lebda's spot on the third pairing. I like how a thread on Brad Stuart/Derek Meech turns into another Aaron Downey debate. Let it go - Downey is in Grand Rapids for a reason.

Why do something just because everyone else does? There is nothing wrong with a third jersey, except the Red Wings don't need one. No need to fix something that definitely isn't broke.
-
Hell no. The Red Wings jersey doesn't need to be messed with. Ever.

Lidstrom goes up and that's it. It's the highest honor an organization can give to a player. I want it to be special and have no doubt when I look up to the rafters at JLA.
