Maybe the Wings should probably stop throwing it into the middle errantly. Sad thing is two of the times it was Kronwall and DeKeyser. Defense has to be way better in their own end.

Helm injury update and a very good one too

I guess I'm still sticking with my objection to Glendening there because I don't think there's any way in hell he produces at that rate. I get it's hypothetical, but how realistic is it for Glendening to actually pull that off? Couldn't you hypothetically ask that about Weiss, Pulkkinen or Joakim Andersson too? I don't think any of them are great choices obviously. The Wings have enough depth at forward where they don't need a 4th liner to "play hard" on the wing of Pavel Datsyuk. -
Helm has shown decent touch this season. Besides, if he skates around like a maniac and forechecks hard like usual, that's insanely valuable. Tatar and Pav will score on that line anyways. Pulkkinen can't get the puck to those two or create space anywhere near the level that Helm can.

Yes. His goal in the two games there was a fluke. I don't have anything against Glendening, but Babs putting a player in a position they don't belong isn't new or less infuriating this time around. Play your 4th line minutes and kill penalties. I don't care how hard he plays -- you gotta have some skill to be Datsyuk's winger. -
Ugly, ugly win but take the points and move on.

Quality officiating by the score here.

Gus looks good tonight. Most jump he has shown in awhile.
-
He saw Andersson had come on and realized it was hopeless.
-
I do hope he's OK from a health perspective, but I don't miss him on the ice. Helm, on the other hand, needs to come back so we never have to see Glendening on a top line again.
-
Kronner! Cole with Z is a nice combination.
-
Just a rough patch. They took 9 of 12 points on a tough road trip not too long ago against some really good teams. This team is hard to get a read on sometimes, but I hardly think you can draw a conclusion they will get swept in the first round based on three games and a period.
-
Good work, Glendening. Way to ruin a Datysuk rush.
-
DeKeyser pass easily the highlight of this period.
-
How soft is Ericsson? Biggest dude on the team and he makes a little stick check in front.
-
I don't know what's going on since the trade deadline, but this is hard to watch.
-
Ericsson probably had his worst game of the season against Calgary and as you know, there haven't been many good nights for him. I will admit I didn't notice him much against Boston, but that might have been because almost everyone was bad. Weiss cost the Wings one SHG for sure yesterday and was partially to blame for another.
-
Not a lick of skill, but hard to play against. Gets you first line minutes with Mike Babcock. Ericsson can mess up every night though and has immunity from a demotion.
-
Seeing Glendening's name on the top line again makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. Only in Babs world would a "heavy" body with no skill get promoted to play with Pavel Datsyuk. Mind you, he has two heavy bodies with Z alone, but apparently they gotta stay together.
-
Are you drawing this conclusion from the whopping 20 minutes Jimmy Howard played today? I don't quite understand why your wrath is directed at Howard of all people from this game.
-
Svedberg gifted the Wings two goals. This is 5-1 or 5-0 with Rask in goal.
-
What a joke call at this stage. Would like to see the PK get a kill at least.
-
Good call to sit Jurco for Andersson.
-
Great, Svedberg is garbage and now Glendening will never leave Pav's wing.
-
The only thing consistent about Mrazek's goaltending was the offense scoring five goals per game in his starts.
