Not going to happen. When has Osgood ever really struggled? It's time for Dom to retire, and he knew it. Dom was so competitive, there was no way he would return for another season in a back-up role to Ozzie. Howard deserves a chance now, and Ozzie will be just fine. Remember the Red Wings are always one of the best defensive teams in the league, so for Howard it couldn't be a better situation to learn and play in. This was a fitting ending for a brilliant career.

Thanks for the memories Dom and all of the scares when you would wander a tad too far from your net. It's been a pleasure watching one of the best goalies ever here in Detroit. I was so impressed with Dom after Ozzie took over in the playoffs. What a great teammate, and a champion again no less. Good luck Dom. You will be missed.

Dan had a rough playoff run scoring wise, but I know he'll bounce back strong next season when he is fully recovered from his injury. Despite the lack of goals, Dan was still terrific defensively and on the penalty kill, and filling in for Homer on the top line in the finals. The only time during the whole post-game celebration that I came close to tears was when CBC interviewed Cleary and his friends and family came down on the ice. He was so overcome with emotion, like he had finally completed his comeback from the troubles early in his career. Cleary is such a hard worker, and I'm so glad he is going to be part of the Red Wings organization for years to come. Congrats Dan! We couldn't be happier for you.

What? Babcock never blamed the loss on the calls. Quit making up things that aren't there. The fact is they were BAD calls, and any coach would be upset. At no point did Babcock say those calls cost the Red Wings the game. Therrien on the other hand, "da refs not call enough penalty against Detroit and we lose game." It's remarkable that any Penguins fan has the guts to call Babock out for a legitimate complaint about two awful calls. Therrien and Crosby have whined and bitched more in this series than Babcock has/will his whole career.

Agreed. First thought that to came mind when I read the article. Therrien whines and it works. I doubt the same effect will happen for Babcock. Bettman and the NHL would have to drop their love affair with the Pens and Crosby first.

Not true. A penalty is NOT always a penalty. I'm not saying they shouldn't have called the Hudler high stick, because that is a penalty. However, did you seem to forget Lidstrom being cut open in game three by a high stick with NO call? I beg to differ that the Penguins would have won anyways. The Red Wings controlled play for most of the overtimes. Not to mention, your team seemed to perfect the "obstruction" tactics that Therrien whines about when the Penguins lose. The holding, hooking, and interference not called was a joke. I don't ever want to hear Michelle whine again after that showing by his team during the extra sessions. By the way, I respect other fans and have no problem with them posting here, but why do you insist on convincing RED WINGS fans to see it your way? Post your opinion, but realize where you are doing it at.

I like Curry. I have no complaints if he is the next head coach. Regarding Johnson though, how could he "ruin" it possibly any more than what Saunders has? As for the players, I expect Rasheed to be gone. He wore out his welcome here, and his antics are old now with fans, and I'm guessing his teammates too. I love the guy and appreciate what he meant to the Pistons (the x-factor in 2004), but it's time to move on. Clearly, I would love to see Prince hit the road, although I doubt it will happen. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rip possibly get traded, with the emergence of Stuckey, even though I would be against Rip leaving whole-heartedly. 'Dyess deserves to be here, he plays with more heart than anyone else on the team. Mr. Big Shot is staying unless the Pistons want to win 20 games next season. Maxiell, Stuckey, Afflalo, and Amir will all have larger roles. As BRTD mentioned, Dumars knows what he is doing. Getting rid of Flip was the first step in the right direction.

What a stupid thread. It could have been 6-0 Penguins, instead of 2-0 if not for Ozzie. There was NO defense played by the Red Wings for the first period and a half. They were sloppy, the passing was terrible, and as a result Pittsburgh had a ton of great scoring chances, and odd-man rushes. The Red Wings don't even get close to overtime if not for Chris Osgood. Quit trying to blame the loss on the one guy that gave them a chance to come back last night.

So, with the off-season at most only a week away, I propose another prediction quiz: 1. Will Lidstrom finish next season as a Norris Nominee? Yup, he'll win it again too. 2. He finished the season with 27 goals, despite spending much of the season in the bottom 6. With a regular top six role, can Franzen score 40 goals? I doubt it, probably between 25-30 goals. 3. Will the Wings have a 100 point man? a 50 goal man? If yes, who? Pavel 100 points, no 50-goal scorer. 4. Will a rookie defenseman find himself with a regular roster spot? If yes, who? Can't see that happening if Lilja is re-signed. 5. Will Howard back-up Ozzie with a winning record and a good statistical showing? Yes 6. Out of Filppula, Samuelsson, and Hudler, who tallies the most points? Most goals? Most points to Filppula, goals to Hudler. 7. Which Darren makes the top 13 forwards - McCarty, Helm or Both? Helm 8. Does Kopecky score either of 10 goals or 20 points? If healthy, ten goals. 9. His playoff scoring rate would equate to 54 points on a regular season. Can Niklas Kronwall break 50 points next regular season? 50 is a stretch, he'll get pretty close though. 10. Predict the number of Red Wing wins for next season, and their number of wins against Chicago ( ). 52 wins overall, 4-2 against Chicago.

Couldn't agree more. I can't stand Prince. I hate when people go back to the 2003 draft, and use the logic "well the Pistons had Prince at small forward, so Carmelo Anthony wouldn't have fit in." Screw that, could you imagine the Pistons with Carmelo instead of brick-shooting Prince? Worst argument ever.

To answer the question in the title of the thread: Yes, actually I do. Their fans whine just as much as Therrien and Crosby.

Two wins to go! I would love to see the domination continue tonight, but I don't feel it. I think the Red Wings have a great chance to win as always, but this will be tough. Pittsburgh is playing with the last change at home, and call it a conspiracy if you wish, but we all know the Penguins are going to get favorable calls (from O'Halloran especially) in their own arena. The constant bitching and whining from the Penguins will probably work to their advantage, as sad as that may be. I hope the Red Wings can overcome everything and steal at least a game on the road. The cup is so close to coming back to Hockeytown. Go Ozzie & Red Wings! Shut the whiners up for good.
