    WOW. Pistons lose game 1.

True, but when do they all consistently show up to play? I love the Pistons a lot, but the team is underperformers when you really look at it. They are/have been the most complete team and have lost two straight years to two inferior teams. It wasn't even so much what Miami and Cleveland did, but what the Pistons didn't do. It's upsetting to see the Pistons continue to fall apart in the same fashion every playoff.

NHL cuts Refs for round two.

That is McCreary. I usually don't have a problem with McCreary, but I believe he officiated game three in the Nashville series and did a pathetic job. Then again, I would rather see anyone besides O'Halloran or Hasenfratz.

Stuart may miss start of Round 2

Fair enough. Stuart does have an obligation to the Red Wings, but without question he should be there for the birth of his child. I doubt it will be any longer than the first two games anyways. I would think Stuart and the Red Wings organization understand that this isn't going to drag on for weeks. Just recall how classless the Canucks fans/media were towards Luongo when this same situation arose. I don't think you are cold for what you said. Your post just came across more along the lines that Stuart was at fault for leaving the team.

Stuart may miss start of Round 2

I believe your post kind of proves that statement to be false. There are more important things in life than a hockey game.

    Don Cherry on Wings/Preds

I enjoy listening to Don Cherry about as much as I do Barry Melrose, which is not at all. Cherry hates European players, so essentially the Red Wings as a whole. The Red Wings are still playing and until they are the last team standing, I don't expect any praise or credit directed at the team from the media.

    Chelios

Chelios is certainly deserving, but any player that beats cancer and continues to play is the winner in my book. Jason Blake should win the Masterton, and there shouldn't even be any doubt about it in my opinion. Props to Cheli regardless for the nomination.

    Norris Trophy Finalists

The Norris was never even a contest. It was already won before the season started. Seriously, it's scary how good Nick Lidstrom is.

    Quack, Quack.... bye-bye Ducks!

But ... I thought you said after game four the Red Wings were done?
  11. Exactly. It's pathetic honestly. How can the Pistons claim they waited all season for the playoffs and ONE player (Rasheed) shows up for the first game? The Pistons will beat the Sixers, but my goodness they are frustrating to watch. * I almost forgot to mention this, but why the hell did Tayshaun Prince get the last shot to try and tie the game? If that was a designed play (which it appeared), Flip Saunders is even dumber than I thought. The worst jump shooter on the floor gets the ball? That should be Chauncey's shot every time.

Freep reports Osgood starting Round 2.

Dom couldn't stop the puck at crucial moments. It's tough to rally around a guy that wasn't giving the team a chance to win games. The Red Wings play better in front of Osgood, whatever the reason might be. Ozzie was purely outstanding in the Nashville series. The Red Wings are Ozzie's team, and rightfully so for the rest of the playoffs.

:octo: Have a nice time at the golf course.
  15. The Sixers are very athletic, and they have played great defense against the Pistons in the four games during the regular season. The Pistons scored 83 and 86 points in their two WINS against the Sixers. That being said, the Pistons will be incredibly focused. This team reminds me so much of the 2004 team, especially IF Flip Saunders continues to utilize the bench like he should. Everyone in the world has Boston winning the East, and I don't think the Pistons would have it any other way. The Pistons (the starters especially) have always played better when they are the underdogs, or feel slighted. This year's team might be the most underappreciated 59-win team ever, especially considering many people didn't even think the Pistons would win the Central Division. The only thing that worries me still about the playoff run is Flip Saunders. I really hope he learned his lesson from 2006 and 2007, but I just don't trust him at all this time of year. When something goes wrong, Flip never has an answer to fix the problem. He has all of the tools to succeed this time around. Play your frickin bench Flip like you did all year!

WQF Game 5 GDT: Red Wings 2, Predators 1 (OT)

Nice work, as always Aflac. I especially like the logo hunter. I'm nervous already about the game, but I fully expect the Red Wings to come out flying on home ice and get the win. I'm really hoping for some much needed offense from anyone not named Datsyuk, Zetterberg, or Holmstrom. They need to play the full sixty minutes like the effort displayed during the third period of game four. Go Ozzie and Go Red Wings! It's time for the real team we know and love to show up.

That's fine if you don't like Ken Holland. I just don't understand though how you say that it is OK to blame everything on Holland when things go wrong, but you won't give him any credit when the Red Wings do succeed? How can it be both ways? Either he is responsible for both good and bad, or he isn't. Hindsight is 20/20 now with Hasek. It sure looks like a bad decision at the moment, but no one was complaining when Dom was superb in the first period of game two. It's puzzling how people can turn so fast on the team/players they root for.

You have to be the most negative fan on these boards. Do you even like the Red Wings? I would never guess so by the nature of your posts. The series is not over by any means. As much as you claim the Red Wings COULD have been swept, you could easily make a case this series COULD be 3-1 in the Red Wings favor. You can play the "what if" scenario for anything. The fact is the series is tied 2-2, and possibly two of the remaining games are at JLA. Have the Red Wings played great hockey to this point? No, they certainly have not. Some of the credit goes to Nashville in that regard. However, this team has too much pride to quit like some of their "fans" after a couple of losses. I'm guessing when the Red Wings win this series, you will give no credit to Ken Holland. The only time you feel the need to mention him is when something goes bad. Just imagine if Sergei Fedorov was here, the Red Wings would be on to the second round already right?
  20. Pistons/Sixers in the opening round. I'm feeling a sweep. The Pistons have waited all season for this...

WQF Game 4 GDT: Predators 3, Red Wings 2

I never blamed the two losses solely on officiating like Nashville did. I thought game four was poorly called, but it wasn't the reason the Red Wings lost. Trotz and Nashville made it seem as though the refs handed the Red Wings their two wins. It's strange those complaints are nowhere to be found now since they won two straight.
  22. GoWings1905

    Zetterberg's performance.

Z isn't the problem. I thought he actually had a strong game last night. Maybe I'm going nuts, but shouldn't we be more upset with the no-shows in this series so far like Franzen, Cleary, Filppula, and Samuelsson? Like previous times this season, the Red Wings are back to one line creating all of the scoring chances, and scoring most/all of the goals. * The whole Hossa for Z argument is absurd. Hossa is a classic playoff bust. There is no way I want Marian Hossa over Henrik Zetterberg for this or any playoff run. Again, when things go "bad" people will suggest just about anything on here. So far, we need a new captain, a different GM, a louder arena, and now Z takes his turn.

    Tootoo on Draper

The whole incident was a joke. Tootoo steps on Draper (most likely intentional) and there is no call for it. Then Draper gets in a scrum later in the game and gets the only penalty for "cross-checking" Shea Weber. I thought the whole game was poorly officiated. If the Arnott hook on Datsyuk near the end of the third happened in the first period, you know darn well it would have been called. The NHL wonders why nobody watches. Maybe because the officiating is the worst in professional sports. Rant over. I'm still bitter from last night's loss.

Official: Osgood to start Game 5

I think most people (me personally as well) aren't happy because Dom is no longer starting, but moreso because Ozzie is now and the Red Wings have a better chance of winning this series with Oz in goal. I couldn't care less who starts in goal ... I just want the team to win. Dom has admitted himself that his play in not up to his own personal standards, and certainly not good enough to win the Red Wings the series. I'm not pitting the past two games solely on Dom because there is plenty of other blame to go around. However, Dom needs to at least give the Red Wings a chance to win on nights when the team in front of him isn't playing that well, and he hasn't done that at all. Playoff goalies have got to stop shots like the de Vries goal last night. That was a backbreaker for the whole team. I give Dom credit for handling this well so far. We all know how hard he competes, and how tough this probably is on him right now. It's Ozzie's turn now, and no one can say that he doesn't deserve it.

Will You Be Surprised If We Lose?

I would be shocked. I fully expect the Red Wings to dominate game five, and end the series in Nashville. Then again, I could be forcing myself to think that, since every thread I read is trying to convince me the Red Wings are done already.
