No. The series is 2-2, and the Red Wings have home ice. Lets not panic or anything.

Funny, no complaints from Trotz/Nashville now about the officiating after two straight wins. I guess all that whining really did work. The Red Wings are better than blaming a loss on the refs, but tonight's game was poorly called, especially the third period. When did interference become legal again on every dump-in by the Red Wings? Don't call garbage for two periods, and swallow the whistles in the third. Oh well, Friday night is it for the Red Wings. Ozzie better be in goal, and the rest of the team better decide to show up for more than a period. Red Wings in six!

Go after Tootoo or try to win a hockey game? I'll take the latter.

I'm not crazy about this move at all. Besides Lebda being fast, what else does he really provide? Lilja is a better penalty killer and shot blocker. Lebda isn't very strong from a defensive standpoint either. I wasn't impressed with Lebda all season, and tonight will probably be no different. I would rather see Meech in over Lebda, if a change really needs to be made. Sure, Lilja makes some bad decisions, but Lebda isn't an upgrade if the Red Wings are looking for more defensive help. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a Brett Lebda thread similar to the Lilja one created after the game three loss. I hope Lebda proves me wrong, but I don't feel too strongly about that possibility at all.
-
I agree man ... both Lilja and Lebda have some obvious major flaws. I like Ericsson as well, but his lack of NHL experience would be a big issue during the playoffs. Quincey played out of necessity, and yes he was very solid, in his limited ice time. Despite Lilja's mistakes, he does provide solid penalty killing and shot blocking ability. Lebda is simply fast, and doesn't offer a whole lot else. I would definitely rather see Babcock stick with Lilja, as opposed to giving Lebda a place in the lineup.

It's the playoffs. Teams don't go out and "slaughter" opponents this time of year. The games are going to be close, and as long as the Red Wings win, who the hell cares what the score is? The powerplay could certainly be better, but that is the Red Wings biggest issue so far in the series. If the Red Wings don't sit on a one-goal lead, it could easily be 3-0 today. I'm guessing they learned their lesson, and it won't happen again. All I said was I don't see one player that was responsible enough last night to get taken out of the lineup for game four. They fell apart as a team, but it will always come back as Dom's or Lilja's fault, regardless, when the Red Wings do lose.
-
No changes necessary. The Red Wings fell apart in game three as a collective unit because they sat on a lead far too early. It wasn't any one player's fault for the loss. Lilja is still better than Lebda, despite some people wanting to pin every problem the Red Wings come across on him. Dom starts in goal, to suggest otherwise is nonsense. The Red Wings will be fine. One loss is not the end of the world.
-
The whole team was at fault for the loss. They will learn from their mistakes, come out to play Wednesday, and everything will be fine. If there is one guy that is bothering me in this series, it is Val Filppula. He had a very poor game last night. For all the praise (and rightfully so) Filppula gets on here, it's fair to say he hasn't performed well at all to this point.
-
Are you serious? You can't possibly be blaming the WHOLE team's meltdown on Lilja. What about blaming Stuart then for pinching on the second Nashville goal? Every guy on the ice was out of position on the Arnott goal anyways. The loss should be blamed on the Red Wings failure to continue forechecking after they got a 3-2 lead. When the play is in your own zone for the whole period, something bad is bound to happen, and it did. The whole team/coaching staff is at fault for sitting back, on the road, with a one goal lead. Hopefully the lesson was learned this time around. For the record, I am by no means a Lilja fan. Despite the occasional bad mistake, Lilja is a good penalty killer and shot blocker. Certainly, Lilja has more to offer to the Red Wings than Brett Lebda or Derek Meech during the playoffs. The Red Wings lost the game as a team. No need to find a scapegoat for the loss, much less targeting someone that doesn't even warrant the blame.

Prevent defense is the reason the Red Wings are not up 3-0 today...
-
True, but their timing is pathetic. Chanting Hasek's name when the team is losing or "Red Wings Suck" when their franchise has never won a playoff series? I don't care if they cheer, but they certainly don't do it at the best times.
-
I'm fine with keeping the lines the same in Nashville. The Drake/Hartigan/Mac line was very good today. I don't see much reason at all to bench any of those guys. By no means are the Predators overwhelming the Red Wings from a physical standpoint, so playing Downey isn't really necessary. The only change I expect to see is Pavel and Z split up at times.
-
I read through most of the GDT and didn't come across anything. Anyone care to explain the content of the jumbotron discussion? * Found the pictures and I don't see any problem with it. Just some harmless shots at Nashville, no big deal.
-
No big deal. The more the Red Wings prove the media and hockey "experts" wrong, the sweeter this playoff run will be. I don't care what ESPN calls the game. All I know is the Red Wings had more goals than Nashville, and that is the only thing that really matters.
-
Nashville can whine all they want, but I doubt they have any complaints about that absurd penalty call on Hasek that led to the first goal. Holding the stick with Hasek's leg? What the hell kind of call is that? For all the crap about Z's goal in game one being "lucky", you could easily classify both of the Predators goals today as the same. My favorite quote post-game was minus-100 Radek Bonk saying the Preds were good enough to win, except for some "lucky bounces". I guess perspective is in the eye of the beholder, because to me both Nashville goals were pretty flukey. They can continue to make excuses and placing blame on the refs, but it hardly matters. The Red Wings won both games, and deservedly so. On to Nashville, and some of the best chants in all of sports.
-
Platoon in left field possibly with Jones and Thames? Not like those two guys are really hitting the ball at this point anyways. Granderson definitely gets center back, without question. I agree though, Clete Thomas is making the decision very tough on the Tigers. How can you send down, arguably, the Tigers best player through ten games? By the way, props to the bullpen for their outstanding performance in the win tonight.
-
Enjoy the game man! Hopefully, the Red Wings will treat you to a victory.

Trotz says that Z's goal shouldn't have counted
GoWings1905 replied to Frozen-Man's topic in General
True, I understand your point. However, there is really no conclusive evidence in the Red Wings favor either. I don't think there is a definitive replay angle that shows the puck clearly staying inside of the blue line. My whole point was if this happened to the Red Wings, we would all be irate. I understand why Nashville has an argument about the whole play. -
I would personally keep the lineup the same as the first game. 1. Mac and Downey is a wash. Either one is fine by me, but both aren't necessary. They essentially play the same role. 2. I am by no means a Hartigan fan, but he isn't doing anything to cost the Red Wings games. As long as Hartigan stays out of the penalty box, a fourth line role is fine. I think some people are getting carried away with Abdelkader. I liked his performance, so far, but it was only TWO games. He'll be a good player for the Red Wings down the road. Throwing him into the playoffs isn't the best idea at this point. 3. Hell no

Trotz says that Z's goal shouldn't have counted
GoWings1905 replied to Frozen-Man's topic in General
Trotz and Nashville have a legitimate argument. It was really hard to tell from any angle if the puck came outside of the zone or not. That being said, the call went the Red Wings way, whether it was right or wrong. It doesn't change the fact that Nashville was outplayed all night, and only managed two or three shots on goal in the third period. The better team won Game One, regardless of the linesman controversy. -
It's almost here. At least I have class coming up until 6:30 to kill some time, because I am going nuts with excitement right now. No predictions for the game tonight. Just play like we know you are capable of Red Wings and everything will be fine. Enjoy the game fellow Wings fans!
-
As long as Hartigan stays out of the box, I have no problem with him being in the lineup. Having Stuart back really solidifies the top four on defense. The top six forwards are looking damn good too.
-
That is how Todd Jones pitches. Regardless, more often than not, he gets the job done. Jones pitches to contact -- guys are going to hit him. I would take Jones any day over anyone else in the Tigers bullpen right now.
-
I hear ya. Jones has actually been reliable so far, and again tonight. THE TIGERS WIN!!!
-
Oh my, three outs away from a WIN. I'm honestly really excited and happy to see the Tigers finally breakthrough. Maybe tonight is the start of good things to come for the ballclub.
