LMAO at Vesa Toskala. This is the funniest, yet saddest post I have ever read. I would call you an idiot, but your post speaks for itself.

After tonight's debacle, and seeing what it would be like potentially without our number two and three defensemen again in the playoffs, it's mandatory the Red Wings trade for some defense at the deadline. Personally, I would take Brad Stuart in a heartbeat.

You are out of your mind. Dom was awful in the Toronto game. The Sundin goal was beyond weak and then he promptly decided to lay down on the ice for five minutes, while the Leafs scored the winning goal in overtime. Those snow angels you claim are memorable, are certainly memorable for all the wrong reasons. So, let me get this straight. Dom and Ozzie play with the SAME team in front of them, but when Dom wins he gets the credit, and when Ozzie wins, it's because of the team? I think you should probably check the stats and come up with a factual argument, instead of your make-believe theories.

Hell no to Tucker. If the Red Wings acquire any player from Toronto, it better be Sundin.

We need to just assume Kronwall will be hurt during the playoffs at some point. I know, I know, the injuries aren't his fault, but how much is enough? We can't afford to play short on defense again this post-season. I would say a top-four, or at the least, a depth defenseman is a must-have at the deadline. Whether it be Blake, Stuart, Foote, or any other rumored name, somebody needs to be brought in. Kronwall had been playing at his highest level ever, but what does that matter if/when he gets hurt in the playoffs?

Could a team that is by far the league leader in goal differential (+70) really be playing as many one-goal games as other teams? Besides, even if the Red Wings had won every game this season by one-goal, does that really change anything? It's truly amazing in a league filled with parity, the Red Wings have won 78% of their games, and are 17 points ahead of the second-best team. I would agree that there are certainly no guarantees about the Red Wings in the playoffs, but I sure as hell like their chances.

This is great news! One of the best rejections ever possible. My sympathies to the unlucky team that Forsberg doesn't reject, and ends up playing five games with, before breaking a fingernail and sitting out the rest of the season.
-
I don't know why everyone is so happy that the Ducks are losing, and may end up as the eighth seed in the playoffs as a result. That's not something I would look forward to...

Nick Lidstrom is the best hockey player in the world. There is every stat and reason imaginable he should win the Hart Trophy, EVERY season. That being said, there is hardly any chance Nick wins it this year or ever. A forward or goalie is almost always going to win the award. Either AO or a healthy Alfredsson will win the Hart.

1. Pronger 2. Jackass-man 3. Kariya 4. Perry 5. Crosby * Spot reserved for Forsberg, upon his return.

Last time I saw the schedule, that was a 6:00 start time.

The only thing I really want at the deadline is a big, physical defenseman (Blake, Foote) that can clear the front of the net against teams like Anaheim or San Jose. The big-name forwards rumored like Hossa, Sundin, etc. are world-class players that are going to require a very high price to acquire. In my opinion, adding a forward would be nice, but not necessary. Our secondary scoring has been very productive, from guys like Cleary, Hudler, Filppula, and Franzen at times. It comes down to how much of the future Ken Holland is willing to sacrifice for possibly one playoff-run to get a big-name forward. I do think the Red Wings will make some move at the trade deadline (like always), but I'm not sure it will be as significant as all the rumors flying right now suggest.

This is great news and a huge opportunity for McCarty to earn a spot with the Red Wings. At first, I thought this whole comeback was absurd, because quite honestly Mac was washed-up from a hockey perspective. However, Mac has proven he is willing to put forth the effort and time to get his career and life back on track. I will be rooting for Darren's comeback to come full-circle, but realistically it's still a long-shot. The IHL and AHL are worlds apart from NHL competition. Not to rain on the parade, but Mac wasn't a very effective NHL player when he last played, and that's putting it kindly. Of course, for sentimental reasons, it would be an amazing story to watch Darren McCarty play for the Red Wings again. However, nostalgia doesn't win championships. I want what is best for the Red Wings as a team, not a feel-good story just for the hell of it. Mac has a long way to go to prove he is more deserving of a roster spot over guys like Kopecky or Drake. Even if Darren McCarty never suits up for Detroit again, we should all be proud of the way he turned his life around. Regardless of what happens, us Red Wing fans will always cherish the memories Mac blessed us with. Good Luck Darren, we are all rooting for you!

You have got to be kidding. Could you be any further from the truth? 20-3-2 record, .925 save percentage, 1.87 GAA, and three shutouts. All of that coming from a "back-up" goalie. I would call you an idiot, but your posts speak for themselves.

No way should the winner of the all-star game get home ice in the finals. That is the worst idea baseball has ever come up with. How mad would all of us be if (possibly when) the Red Wings get to the finals, and Game 7 is at Scotiabank Place instead of JLA, even though the Wings finished 15-20 points ahead of Ottawa in the standings? The regular season needs to stand for something. I would have no problem if the NHL got rid of the all-star game. Give the players some well-deserved rest. We all made it through the lockout without hockey, the fans can survive a week.

How is Cleary a dumb ass? Because he actually stood up to Pronger for once, unlike anyone else on the Red Wings? That takes some serious balls to fight a much-bigger Pronger, while also knowing that any punch to his mouth can't possibly make his teeth any worse. Regarding Kopecky, no he doesn't deserve more playing time. The Anaheim game was by far his best performance of the season, but can he play at that level on a consistent basis? Besides, at whose expense are you going to give Kopecky's minutes to? If Kopecky could use his size and play physical a little more often, his value would grow to the Red Wings. I'm not ready to annoint Kopecky the second-line center after one solid performance.

Without a doubt, you should watch the Red Wings. I used to always stay up late for the West Coast games during my high school days. As long as you aren't jeapordizing anything major in school (which it doesn't sound like you are), a few hours less sleep won't hurt. Besides, if the Red Wings really want to, they could probably have the game won in the first 20 minutes tonight anyways.
-
Exactly. I love the Red Wings to death, but you can still be objective when it comes to hockey. I want to be wrong about this, but until the Red Wings beat the Ducks in a seven-game series, I am standing by my point that Anaheim is a better team.
-
As far as I am concerned, they are the team to beat until someone proves otherwise. They have what 29 other teams want, including the Red Wings. I don't really care honestly what the Ducks are doing in comparision to the Red Wings in January. Anaheim has proven before they are better than Detroit when it matters. I am not sure how you get the Ducks are struggling to make the playoffs anyways. The Ducks are one point back in their division now, and six points ahead of the eighth place team in the conference. The only team with any substantial ground in all of the West are the Red Wings. The Ducks will make the playoffs, you can count on that. Until the Red Wings, or any other team really, prove they can beat the Ducks when it matters, Anaheim is still the best team in my book.

Wilson will be responsible for providing a fresh supply of Big Red and Dasani to Babcock during the all-star game. Hopefully, he does better at that role than he does at coaching.
