  4. I second this 110%. Prince would be great trade bait for a legitimate starting center. I've never cared for Prince, never will, and am befuddled what the hell all the hype is about surrounding him. Time to send the Prince packing.
  5. Great start to the season so far. I really like the defensive intensity from the Pistons in these first three games, something that Flip Saunders has ignored the previous two years. Rasheed Wallace has looked motivated, in-shape, and focused, which is a huge blessing for the Pistons. I fully believe that the Pistons go as Rasheed goes. I am very concerned though with the frontcourt situation. Basically, the Pistons have three players that rotate at the power forward and center positions. If Wallace, McDyess, or Maxiell gets injured, there is no help on the roster. Nazr Mohammed is ... well, Nazr Mohammed. Amir Johnson is still developing, and Cheick Samb will never see the floor this season. Maxiell is a beast, but beyond that, the frontcourt is thin. The ideal situation would be to get McDyess back coming off the bench, and have someone else start at center. The problem is finding that someone. I just don't feel comfortable at all with our frontcourt depth. Stuckey and Hayes are going to be nice additions to the bench, but they are both perimeter players. Dare I mention, C-Webb Part II?

    10/26 GDT: Red Wings 5, Guppies 1

I was at the game, and saw the fight from a distance. I was at the opposite end of the arena, but had a distant view of it. The fight broke out in the second intermission, and everyone in that section stood up when it happened. All I could see was two people slugging each other, before it got broken up. Then after the initial fight was over, some dude in a Shanahan jersey started another fight. The police eventually escorted everyone involved out. Somebody took a beatdown though because they had to bring a mop out to clean up blood where the fight occurred. All-in-all it was real exciting at the Joe.

    10/26 GDT: Red Wings 5, Guppies 1

I was at the game tonight, and it was awesome. By far, the best performance of the season by our Red Wings. Just a couple things that I thought stood out for me: - There were bunches of empty seats again, but the crowd was anything but quiet. I know the Joe can sound like a cemetary on TV, but that place was loud in person tonight. Between the Downey fight, a fight in the crowd, and the disallowed goal against Homer, there was plenty of noise. Granted there was plenty to cheer about, but I was pleasantly surprised with the energy level at JLA. I don't care what people say about the empty seats, there are plenty of passionate fans that will show up and support the Red Wings. - I hate to state the obvious, but this crap with Homer has got to stop. There was no contact made at all with the goalie. If they are going to call Homer that tight, I want it called every time an opponent does the same to Dom and Ozzie. All this is right now is a reputation penalty sting, and it's beyond frustrating at this point. - The Red Wings passing and puck movement tonight was flawless. The way the defense can pass the puck and then jump into the offensive rush is pretty special. It's going to be tough for opponents to beat a team as talented as the Red Wings, when the Wings possess the puck for the majority of the game. Special props to the Draper/Maltby/Cleary line for their fantastic effort.

    Yzerman at Notre Dame

Congrats on getting to meet Stevie Y. That has to be an unforgetable experience. Not to mention, you got to meet him at the best place in the world - the Notre Dame campus. Maybe Stevie's "winning aura" will rub off on the football team this weekend.

Sharks being railed by the stupid Avs

Colorado has a great mix of proven veterans and promising young players. Paul Stastny is off to a remarkable start, not to mention they have Sakic, Smyth, Hejduk, Brunette, and Wolski up front as well. Not many teams can put up two scoring lines with as much talent as Colorado. If they can keep Leopold and the rest of the defense healthy, there is no reason the Avs shouldn't make the playoffs. They are fully capable of winning the Northwest Division, and returning to elite status in the West. Just imagine if Bertuzzi had re-signed with the Red Wings. Maybe, just maybe, the rivarly would have made a comeback.

    Potential/Desired Trade Deadline Pickups

Brian Rolston I doubt the Wild will move him though, since it seems pretty likely they will be in the playoff race.

    Franzen out 3-4 weeks

Bad timing for this injury, since Franzen had played so well during the pre-season. Luckily, it doesn't sound too serious, and hopefully he won't miss too much time. Now, it gives Cleary and Filppula a chance to play more minutes on the top lines. Somebody needs to step up and produce, since so far, the extent of the offense has been solely from Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Holmstrom. I'm still concerned with the lack of scoring depth on this current roster, but two games is nowhere near enough time to hit the panic button. Get well and back soon Mule!

    2007 College Football Season Talk

Finally, Notre Dame is on the board. Of course, the night they get their first win, I get stuck watching the Ohio State game because of where I live. Regardless of whatever the anti-Notre Dame crowd says, I'm very excited for the future. Every week this young team has shown a lot of improvement, and that's a good sign. Five straight games now in South Bend to keep on building for next year.

Who's going to score the first goal?

The captain, on the powerplay. Homer will, of course, be in front of the crease ruining any prayer for Bryzgalov.

    2007 Baseball Season

I agree. All factors considered this was still a pretty good season for the Tigers. It just makes you wonder though, when healthy, what this team could have done all season. Pitching needs to be the focus of the offseason, especially the bullpen. Whether or not Jones returns will have a considerable effect on what the Tigers do. We could afford another pitcher for the back end of the rotation, since I believe Nate has an option for next year. With Rogers' health in question, and young guys like Jurrjens and Miller getting a chance, it would be nice to have a reliable starter to go with Verlander and Bonderman. I wish the Tigers were shopping for a new third baseman this winter too. That nice, long contract extension to Inge was a huge mistake. Looks like we are stuck with no production at the plate from third base for awhile. Nice guy, great defender, but awful with the bat.

    2007 Baseball Season

Well, tonight it became official. The defending American League Champions are not going to the playoffs. What happened to the team that had the best record in baseball back in July? Fitting that it rained tonight for the last home game. Sort of a sign how the season went. I'm already looking forward to March 31st next year for Opening Day.

    2007 Baseball Season

That would be awesome if Casey stayed here. I'm not for certain, but I would assume he would take a lesser role for a shot to win it all.

    2007 Baseball Season

I'm not sure what will happen this offseason, but I do know I am going to miss Sean Casey a ton. You couldn't ask for a nicer guy, or better teammate in the clubhouse. I have even more respect for Casey now (if possible) for the way he has handled himself ever since his role has been reduced in the second half. The guy is a class act, and team player, unlike any other. I know it is the right move and a business decision to let Casey go, but I wish him all the best and will be rooting for him wherever he ends up playing next. Hopefully, Leyland will play him the final ten games or so, with nothing on the line. Casey at least deserves that much.

    2007 Baseball Season

Perfectly said. Nothing was ever going to top the magical season from a year ago. Pretty much anything was going to be a letdown this year, even with high expectations, and a very talented team. All-in-all though the Tigers still had a pretty good season this year, despite a considerable amount of injuries to key players, and playing in a very tough American League. That said, I can't help but be somewhat disappointed with how the first half went, and the major collapse after the all star break. There's a lot of talent in that dugout to not be playing in October. I truly believe, when healthy, the Tigers are the best team in baseball still. They could compete with any team, any night when they are going good. Sadly, they will have no chance to prove that, after playing downright awful baseball for two months now. This season is all but done, unless a big-time miracle happens, but Leyland and Dombrowski will have this team ready to go next April. Only thing left to do is watch Maggs win the batting title.
