    Schneider signs with Ducks

I don't understand some of the logic here regarding this signing. A month and a half ago when Schneider was out in the playoffs, almost everyone on this board knew and acknowledged what a big loss it was to the Red Wings. Then following the loss to Anaheim, one of the excuses used here was how not having Schneider was the difference to the power play. It seems that Schneider was very highly thought of by everyone here. Now today, just because he signs with the Ducks, he instantly becomes trash? I don't understand the people who praised him for what he did in a Red Wings uniform, but can't stand the fact that he could somehow accept a great opportunity to play at home for the Stanley Cup Champs. Schneider was a class act and a terrific player throughout his time in Detroit. He is not selfish for doing what is best for him and his family at this point in his career. I will be rooting for Mathieu even in Anaheim, because I have nothing but great memories of him in a Red Wings uniform. Regardless of these other bitter posters, you will be missed here. Best of luck Schneids!

    New Schedule

The Red Wings will play at all of the teams from the Northeast Division and host the teams from the Southeast Division. This will complete the three-year cycle following the lockout that the NHL created for non-conference games.

The Flames certainly got the best of that deal. I would assume that Keenan had a lot to do with getting Jokinen there from the days in Florida. Jokinen will be a point-scoring machine playing along side Iginla. Good trade for Calgary.

I have a really bad feeling that we'll be seeing Mathieu Schneider's name with another team sometime today, probably the Rangers I would guess. If it does happen, we can thank Montreal and Philly for overpaying for average defenseman and pricing Schneider out of Detroit.

Holland: Prices for Bertuzzi, Schneider & Markov high

Well if I had to pick one to come back, it would be Schneider hands down.

Rumor: Blue Jackets may buy out Fedorov's contract

No thanks! Since there's talk of bringing Kozlov back, and now Fedorov, why not just call up everyone from 1998 and have them play for the Red Wings next season? Maybe Murphy can come back and spare us all from his announcing, and then get D-Mac, Lapointe, Larionov, Shanahan, and anyone else to make it a happy reunion. This team is heading in a new, positive direction - no need to go back to the past. Fedorov had his time here, it's over. I'm sorry, but this is not the same guy from his glory days. We have young guys in this organization that deserve a chance to play. This team was a couple of bad bounces away from being in the Finals, there's no need to make drastic changes. Resigning Schneider and Bertuzzi should and will be the top priorities, and I am confident Holland will get that done, and the Red Wings will be poised to win another Stanley Cup.

    Kozzie returning to the Wings?

Columbus moved Fedorov to defense because their regular defensemen were depleted by injuries. Foote, Berard, Westcott, and Klesla all missed lengthy amounts of time from being hurt. Besides, it's not like Sergei was putting up massive numbers on offense anyways.

Ken Daniels may be considered for Hockey Night in Canada job

I would be very surprised if Ken Daniels leaves FSN Detroit completely to do HNIC. I could see him possibly filling in on Saturday nights at the expense of some Wings games, but there is little chance he is going to leave what he has. Ken has the best job in the world right now. He gets to work with Mickey every night, he does play-by-play for the most successful team of the past decade or so, and the Red Wings by far have the highest television ratings per-game for regional broadcasts of any team in the US. I can see why HNIC wants him though - Ken is one of the best announcers in hockey right now. Watching games would not be the same without Ken and Mick. I would mute the TV and listen to Ken Kal on the radio if this ever happened. Thorne can stick with calling the Baltimore Orioles, because he sure as hell isn't meant for hockey. No thanks on Gary Thorne.

Actually, I agree with almost everything you said. I still think the Spurs would have beaten the Suns regardless of the suspensions or not, but yes it did take away quite a bit from that series. I also think the playoffs were downright terrible to watch - most games turned into free throw shooting contests. Stern really hurt this league when he decided to give special treatment to his highly marketable players, which allows for individual players to have a major advantage over well-rounded teams. The Cavs didn't beat the Pistons, LeBron James did. LBJ was fantastic, but he got a ton of help from the officiating, thanks to Stern's new rules to prevent any form of defense. As bad as Bettman is for the NHL, Stern has done a lot of bad things for the NBA as well. The only difference is Stern actually has a personality that makes him likeable. Bettman's personality is as enjoyable as nails on a chalkboard.

Does Delfino have some potential? Yes, he certainly does. As you mentioned, he proved that in spurts with the Pistons. I still question his work ethic and his desire to improve. Delfino is an average on-the-ball defender, he constantly gets abused one-on-one by better players, and his jump shot is very inconsistent and has shown no signs of getting better. I'm not sure more playing time would bring out the best of his potential, or further expose his major flaws. Maybe a change of scenery will turn Delfino's attitude and ability around, but it was evident that he was not helping the Pistons out in the least.

Delfino sucks and he has publicly stated that he wants out of Detroit numerous times. Before the start of last season, he even said he wanted to be traded. Delfino didn't get playing time because he didn't deserve it. Good move Joe D! It's time to revamp the bench, and Delfino was part of the dead weight on it. I will not miss this bum for a split second.

Complain all you want about the Spurs, but they are everything the Pistons could/should strive to be. The Spurs never play down to their competition like the Pistons do on a regular basis. The Pistons had every opportunity to win at least three titles in the past five years, but their cockiness and "show up when we want" attitude was their downfall. Quite frankly, I appreciate how the Spurs play and win basketball games. The Pistons could learn a few lessons from them on showing up every night and playing 48 minutes of full effort basketball. Congrats to the ultimate team.

    2007 Baseball Season

Sorry, but I respectfully disagree with you about Rodney. He has proven time and time again that he has great stuff, but doesn't know how to use it. With the American League as good as it is, every game is important, and losses like this are tough to afford. Even getting Zumaya back, I'm still not confident with any one else in the bullpen. I think you are right about Rodney's problems being mental. The guy can pitch, but his head is never in it. Now, it's to the point where I expect Rodney to blow the lead when he pitches. I'm sorry, but I think the guy has been given plenty of chances to succeed, and has constantly been a major disappointment. Colon is back in Toledo, and has actually pitched pretty well so far.

I couldn't agree more. The guy is complete garbage, and provides nothing but losses to this team. The Tigers bullpen quite frankly sucks. They need to deal one of their surplus of starting pitchers for a reliever or two. I honestly don't trust anyone in that bullpen, and the one guy I do trust is hurt. The starting pitching on the Tigers is too good for the bullpen to keep blowing games like they have all season. Rodney needs to be in Toledo, or blowing leads on another team.

What is your favorite Nicklas Lidstrom moment/play?

October 5, 2006 - the night he was officially named Captain. If there was any guy that could ever come close to replacing Stevie Y, it's Nick Lidstrom. Nick is the epitome of class, humility, and unselfishness. The smartest hockey player I have ever seen. Congrats on another Norris Trophy tomorrow night Nick, and also for being the Red Wings MVP every single season.

I'm now almost ashamed that the Pistons got beat by the Cavs. They are a disgrace to the Eastern Conference and the Finals. If this series is not proof that Flip Saunders needs to be fired, I'm not sure anything will justify it.

    2007 Baseball Season

Incredible night! What a game, way to go JV! The atmosphere at Copa looked awesome tonight. Besides the Maggs walk-off homer in the ALCS last season, this is my favorite moment of the Leyland-era Tigers. The excitement and buzz for this team in the city of Detroit is truly amazing. 33,000 people there on a Tuesday night. Just a couple years ago, that number was lucky to be a 1/3 of that. I will never forget this.

Watching the Finals is killing me. How did the Pistons lose four straight to the Cavs? They have no business being there. I don't think the Pistons would have beaten the Spurs, but it would have at least been a series. This is so disappointing. I still can't believe they lost.

    Oilers eyeing Hartnell

Hudler scored 15 goals last season playing about 8-10 minutes per game. If the Red Wings give up on him, there will be plenty of teams willing to take him and a chance on his size. I agree the value in return for Hudler wouldn't be great, but calling a guy with 15 goals in minimal playing time unproven is a bit of a stretch.

    Lang

I think Lang will end up with the Rangers next season. I wouldn't mind seeing him sign with another team from the Central Division, so that for once the Red Wings will be on the receiving end of his infamous giveaways for eight games each year. I hate to say it, but I don't care where he goes as long as it means he doesn't come back to the Wings. That being said, Good Luck Robert and happy giveaways.
