    Sammy on D if Neccessary?

No - I could see this scenario turning into a disaster in a heartbeat. Sammy on the point of the power play is scary enough at times, but playing as a defensemen would be a trainwreck. If Lebda can't play, we'll see what Meech is made of.

    Off season....

I do not want Belfour on the Red Wings at all costs. I think if Dom does retire, then it is time to start playing some of the youth that the Wings have in their system right now. Let Osgood start next season and start to work in Jimmy Howard to get him ready to take over a year later. There is no sense of having these capable prospects and letting them rot in Grand Rapids forever. I love all of the Red Wings veterans, but at some point, some of the young guys deserve their shot at the real deal.

Samuelsson - Time to give the guy some kudos

I'm far from his biggest fan, but it was nice to see Samuelsson hit the net today. With Schneider out, it will be even more important for Sammy to contribute and be strong on the point with the first power play unit. Hopefully, this goal is a confidence builder and gets him rolling. Go Red Wings!

    2-2-1-1-1, 2-3-2, or 3-3-1 series

3-3-1 is just absurd. A good home team could win the series before even hitting the road. I am perfectly content with the current 2-2-1-1-1. Even though it doesn't benefit the Red Wings much as far as travel in the Western Conference, it is the fairest format. 2-3-2 is OK, but it's tough to beat a team three straight times even with home ice advantage. This means you virtually have to win at least two on the road at some point. The current format works so I would say just leave it be.

Red Wings and Pistons (and Tigers?)

Care to change your mind now after that Game One massacre? The Pistons are firing on all cylinders. This could be a special summer in Detroit.

    A Flip-flop?

Oh no, I hope this is nothing serious. Filppula has been so good for the Red Wings and he seems to be getting better each game. Man this put a damper on my night...

    Kronwall..Difference maker?

I would rather see a healthy Kronwall play over Quincey, providing Kronwall plays physical and doesn't turn the puck over like crazy. However, at this point there is no way I would rather have Kronwall playing over Lilja and/or Lebda, when he gets healthy again. No reason to rush Kronwall back and risk further injury when the defense the Wings have going right now has been amazing. Besides, no offense, but Kronwall would probably get hurt at the pre-game skate anyways.

I'm gonna scream this until I fall over dead...

No need to scream - none of us here are going to be shooting the puck at Nabokov anyways. The Sharks biggest weakness, however, is their inability to continue attacking with a lead. Whether it be youth or just human nature, the Sharks play way too conservative with a lead, and it caught up to them twice in this series. Also, San Jose needs some more scoring from somewhere other than their big line. For our sake, hopefully this never happens. Go Wings!

Who Do You Want To Dominate Game 5

Any guy with a red jersey on will be great for me.

    New "Lazy and Sucks" Player

One nice goal, on a great play from Filppula and suddenly Lang is off the hook? I mean that goal probably did save the Red Wings season, but it doesn't take away from what Lang did the rest of the game (nothing). Bertuzzi missed seven months and is also playing in a new system with new teammates. The way I look at it is the Red Wings would have been fine without trading for Bertuzzi, and any production from him is just an added bonus.

    Lidstrom?

You are kidding about Lidstrom right? Man, just because he isn't perfect and now suddenly lets throw him under the bus and call him our worst defenseman. I didn't know whether to laugh or punch something when I read this. I think you need to re-evaluate where this team would be without Lidstrom. He is still the Red Wings best player, and they would have been golfing by now without him. I don't care if you don't think his play is not up to par, but calling him horrific is just plain stupid.

    Paging Datsyuk

This is so stupid - they play on the same team. It's not a competition. I would say both groups have been crucial to the Wings success, and they wouldn't be where they are without any of the players mentioned. I think you are way off on judging Lidstrom though. The guy plays against the best players on the other team for 30 minutes a night, every game of the season. Just because Thornton and Michalek are double his size and can push him off the puck makes him ineffective? I think you need to think about what this team would be without Lidstrom.

Lilja the best wings D-man in the playoffs!?!

As long as #5 is playing for the Red Wings, he will be the best defenseman out there. That being said, Lilja and Quincey have both been spectacular. No offense to Kronwall, but I would rather have either of these two in the line-up as opposed to him. Lilja has been great, especially in penalty kill situations. Actually, all six guys on defense deserve a ton of credit in these playoffs. They are the reason this is a series still against the Sharks.

    Paging Datsyuk

Are you serious about calling out Lidstrom? I'm sorry but that is insane.

    YES!!! Thank You Homer!!!

How the hell is that not a penalty on McLaren? Goodness gracious, I can't deal with this anymore.

GAME 4 GDT 5/2: Red Wings at Sharks LIVE

They trap for 60 minutes, a 2-0 lead won't change that. Too bad the Red Wings can't figure it out for the fourth straight post-season. Time to break Pav and Hank up - it isn't working. They have got to find a way to score some goals. This series is so frustrating, no wonder no one watches the NHL with this boring crap they call playoff hockey.

GAME 4 GDT 5/2: Red Wings at Sharks LIVE

I hate to say it, but the way Bertuzzi has been playing he fits nicely with those two at the moment. Not that I don't hope he turns it around, but the guy has had a rough series.

GAME 4 GDT 5/2: Red Wings at Sharks LIVE

Oh wow, Lang-Samuelsson-Bertuzzi on the same line. I am going to have nightmares for weeks. I guess the theory behind this would be they have all been non-productive so lets not have them rub off on anyone else. I cringe everytime these three step on the ice, and to no surprise they were out there for the Sharks goal. The Wings need the next goal desperately, or they may be done for. Hang in there Red Wings!

    Versus Airing Wings Game Early

I was pretty sure FSN Detroit only had coverage in Games 3, 6, and 7. I thought Versus had exclusive coverage for Games 1 and 4, and NBC for Games 2 and 5. I hope I am wrong because I really can't tolerate those bozos on Versus. Either way, go get 'em Wings!

si.com's Alan Muir Q&A with Bettman

That is what I meant by this post. The schedule is great for Eastern Conference teams. I couldn't agree more with you.
  22. The Red Wings dominated that first period because they primarily had control of the puck for the whole 20 minutes. The game turned when San Jose kept the puck away from the Red Wings and used their size and talent to cycle the puck along the boards in the Wings zone. They were able to sustain pressure, draw penalties, and maybe most importantly keep the puck out of the Wings possession. Another good start will be crucial tonight because if the Wings stumble early, the Sharks will smell blood in the water and go for the kill. Somebody needs to step-up in Game 4 and put the puck in the net somehow, someway. 3 goals in 4 games isn't going to win a playoff series. Go Red Wings!

    Hasek and Osgood

This article reassures why Ozzie has always been and will be one of my favorite Red Wings ever. If Dom doesn't come back next season, I would love to see the Wizard be the starting goalie. Not many teams can say their back-up goalie has won two stanley cups. Way to go Ozzie!

si.com's Alan Muir Q&A with Bettman

The 60% is from Eastern Conference fans that get 7:00 start times all season and only have to travel outside their time zone a couple of times in 82 games.

    Paralyzed Snow Angel of Defeat

4 goals scored in 3 games by the Red Wings = anything but Hasek's fault
