Kindl! That is truly his greatest strength. He gets point shots through far better than anyone else on the defense.

How do you put up the stats he has without having two good games in a row? If anything, Jimmy has been remarkably consistent all season. Asking him to bail out this horrendous defense all the time is a tall order. Besides, he just had two quality starts consecutively before tonight.

Yikes, this is the most winnable game left of the road trip too. I can't even grasp how bad the defense is. Jimmy bailed them out in Chicago and for parts again tonight, but they are just atrocious overall. Kronwall isn't himself, E belongs nowhere near a first pairing, Kindl is bad and two rookies on the third pair. Holland has to do something major on defense -- sell high on Pulkkinen. Maybe teams will bite on his AHL stats because he hasn't shown much in the NHL.

Five guys standing around and watching. So, that's what an offensive d-man looks like in Daley. Must be nice.

Brendan Smith is playing fantastic lately. Can't say the same for his other d-men (especially the top pairing), but Smith and Marchenko look great. Kronwall and Ericsson are a wreck. Quincey is a massive upgrade over Kindl on the second pairing too. Holland really has to make a move on defense if this team wants to contend in the playoffs.

Babs' son really adds nothing when he isn't on the penalty kill.

Fair point, but doesn't Jurco have quite a bit more skill (upside wise) than Abby ever did? I always considered Abby a third liner that played up more eventually out of necessity rather than merit. Granted, he has performed pretty well in the role and scored more this season. Jurco just never seemed liked a fit on the 4th line. I was a huge proponent of having him start in Detroit, but I feel like now he would have been better served developing in Grand Rapids.

I'm fine with it. Would rather have him actually playing than being a healthy scratch or wasting on a line with Miller and Andersson. Never understood putting a skill guy with plugs -- might as well have let Jurco develop all season in GR if that was the way he was going to be used in Detroit.

A miracle. I'm truly happy for Jimmy to win a shootout -- he was the only reason they even got to that point. Although, the Wings did respond and start playing well in the second half of the game. The Datsyuk line was terrific again. Don't like Pulkkinen and Abby with Z, but could probably use some more time together before further judgment. Really satisfying win to kick off a brutal road trip. Beating Chicago is the best. Between Eddie, the refs and their moron fans, this was an awesome night to be a Wings fan.

Is there any good reason not to play three forwards in OT against the Western Conference or really just in general? Why not try to win instead of losing in a shootout? No high stick on Marchenko? Seems about right.

Seeing the replay again, that's goaltender interference. They have called far less against other teams that wear red. Babs is going to be stupid now and play Glendening in OT instead of Tatar and Nyquist.

Had to win this in regulation. Imagine what Toews and Kane are going to do in the shootout. I still don't get why the 4th line is playing in that situation. Even if they are defensively responsible, they are still your worst forwards. Play your best guys and win the game.

HELM! I agree Abby needs out of the top-six, but Helm has been excellent with Pav and Tatar. Babs, you moron. Why the f*** would you put Glendening and Miller out there? That's ridiculous.

Funny how quickly Sharp got up once the penalty was called. All the stuff they haven't called and now incidental contact warrants a penalty? This has been as one-sided officiating as Eddie's commentary.

What was the softie against Montreal, the empty netter? I don't think the one tonight was bad either. Looked like Saad's shot changed direction and DeKeyser was basically a screen.

If Eddie admits it was a missed call against Chicago, it had to be bad. I think that puck hit off DeKeyser too.

Tatar! What a pass by Helm. Really liking that line together. Been the only one going at even strength the past few games.

You can't call that. Eddie O bitching about Quincey, but doesn't acknowledge the hooking call was soft. How is that not a conflict of interest on a national broadcast? He seriously can't hide his fandom.
