Outside of the shootout losses and that really bad six game stretch in December, the Wings have done pretty well for themselves. 17 goals in the past four wins. Keep it going on Tuesday and head into the break on a high note.

Appropriate replacement for Franzen then, no? I agree, though. I love that he looks to shoot, but he needs to get it off quicker and be a little more selective with his shots. Too many times he shoots automatically with no lane or right into traffic.

I can't recall a period that horrendous in a long time. Everything they did well last night was non-existent in those 20 minutes. The positive is that it's Buffalo and if the Wings decide they want to play hockey tonight, they can still salvage something from this game. But they better start real quick.

This team probably isn't quite on the same level as those four. Those rosters could half-ass games and still win.

No excuses for this garbage. Get up to play regardless of the opponent. How many times has this happened where the Wings beat a quality opponent and then no show for a bad team? Worst period of the season. They are getting outworked, outskated and dominated by the worst team in the NHL.

This looks like the Wings team from late November to early December. Fast, lots of puck possession and scoring goals. That kid line is something else. All three have different skill sets that make each of them very fun to watch play.

Guarantee the Wings get a penalty very soon.

I hate to say it, but this is a really boring team to watch right now. Which is odd because the first two months or so, this was the most exciting Wings team in years.

Man, the Wings just don't generate anything offensively at even strength. They had one stretch this season where they scored goals in bunches, but otherwise it has been a consistent struggle.

I would gladly take Hossa's slightly higher cap hit when you factor in everything else he does that makes him worth more money than Franzen. Hossa is an elite two-way forward. He has obviously slowed down some from six years ago, but so has his counterpart. Even if it cost the Wings another player or two, we are still talking about Marian Hossa. He scored 40 goals and the Wings haven't had anyone hit 30 since. Imagine Hossa for all these years on Pavel's wing instead of Bertuzzi, Abdelkader, Helm, etc. It would have completely changed the dynamic of the team.
