Nope. I don't want either of them back and said as much in the GDT yesterday. Well, possibly Alfie because he was hurt, but I'm more than fine with neither playing again for the Red Wings. Just because other players stunk doesn't excuse Franzen being a bum in the playoffs for the past four years.

If they perform like that for four years running in the playoffs, I will be all over them too. Franzen is a veteran; the kids were playing in their first series against the best team in hockey. Major difference between the two.

One goal in 23 games, none in the playoffs. How can he possibly not do better than that? None of us expect him to be the Euro Twins. Franzen should be able to perform more consistently than he has, though. What else is he doing on the ice if he isn't scoring goals besides passing the puck up the middle to the wrong team?

Neither of these teams can beat the Blackhawks and that's the worst part of whomever advances.

The Bruins will win easily, I believe. Montreal is the same mold as the Red Wings except slightly more skilled. I don't see any team in the East being able to beat the Bruins four times with their size and physicality.

I could probably be alright with one of Legwand or Alfie back, but not both. I don't really see why Legwand would be necessary with Weiss healthy and a bunch of centers already on the roster. Alfie was not good after the Olympics, though injuries probably played a major role. First order of business has to be fixing the defense.

That's surprising. Mickey is usually harsher to Franzen on the air than any other player.

I agree with this. The Wings need an actual goal-scorer, especially since Franzen doesn't care about playing hockey for 3/4 of a season.

One penalty doesn't overshadow everything else Smith did well. He played a really strong series otherwise at both ends.

The better team won. Fully expected that result, just kinda disappointed with how it went down. Another long summer. Holland has a lot of work to do. The Wings have a sound foundation, but clearly need some adjustments to get back to championship contention.

I wouldn't care if Franzen, Alfie and Legwand all never played another game for the Red Wings. Just don't see what any of them provide going forward.

Now the refs want to call penalties in this series? After four games of letting the Bruins get away with everything. This league is a joke and the inconsistency of the officiating continues to get worse. Refs dictate games and series far too often. Call a dive on the Bruins for once or Bergeron for interference if you are suddenly intent on penalties playing a role. The call on Franzen was weak and then Iginla dives right as the Wings were starting to get some momentum. I guess the NHL is fine with refs influencing the outcome.

This is boring to watch on top of losing. Outside of Pav's goal and the first period of Game 4, the Wings have done very little worth getting excited over.

Just my opinion, but the line combinations are largely irrelevant at this point. I would probably give Legwand more of a role, though I haven't been impressed with him either. Boston is just better, in nearly every area in the game. The Wings can change lines all they want and nothing is going to affect the outcome. There was a reason these two teams were separated by 25 points.

Could they make it any easier for the Bruins to skate into the zone? Monster was diving all over the place, like usual. They better call penalties all game on Boston if that hook is the standard.
