gdt ECQF Game 2 GDT : Red Wings 1 at Bruins 4 - Series tied 1-1

How was that not a hook by Miller on Sheahan all the way down the ice? Too many in a row on the Bruins already? -

Glendening! That line works because they don't play along the perimeter. The Wings should decline penalties because they are much stronger at even strength. I don't understand why the intensity lags with a man advantage. -

The PP has to get going. The way most games are called, special teams decide the outcome. Dump the puck in and retrieve in. I hate the drop pass at center and trying to skate in through four guys at the blue line. -

How many times of failure will it take to ditch that drop pass with no speed entry? -

Chara is such a doofus. The Bruins take offense to Franzen's hit on Boychuk, but Krejci did the same thing to Smith. Of course Eddie thought only one was dirty. The Wings just need to play hockey. That type of period is exactly what the idiot Bruins want. -

How is that not a penalty on Krejci? If they are going to call penalties today nonstop, don't miss that one. -

Oh good, we are back to calling everything. That's such a relief after actually letting them play hockey in the first game. -
Toews is still a whining punk. I lost any semblance of respect for him in the playoffs last season. Honestly, ever since Kane finally grew up, I think he's the more decent of the two. The Hawks are just so incredibly intolerable -- from the players, to that obnoxious fan base and of course their fan boy doing national broadcasts. I hope Ott does do something stupid and the Hawks get swept in the process.
-
I think they can handle it unless you mean some stupid maneuver like Lucic pulled. If Game 1 was any indication, the Bruins physicality isn't going to throw the Red Wings off their game. My point was Lucic or Marchand would be offended if one of their skilled guys got Kronwalled by a clean check, yet Lucic has the audacity to spear someone in the junk for no good reason. Not sure what the Wings have to do with Nashville either. How has that muscle done containing that speed and skill through five meetings so far this season?
-
I want Krejci or Bergeron to get Kronwalled so bad. You know that idiot Lucic and rat Marchand would take offense if something like that happened to one of their guys.
-
Bulls*** from Lucic saying he won't do it again. Of course he will -- as long as the league doesn't punish him in any form. Did the same thing to Emelin, so it's not like this is some random act from Lucic. He's a scumbag. The officials never miss a slight hook 150 feet from the play and then let spearing go.

gdt 4/18 ECQF Game 1 GDT: Red Wings 1 @ Bruins 0. DET leads series 1-0

This team is remarkable. They just don't get rattled by any opponent or situation. Amazing 60 minute effort on the road against the best team in the league. Playoff hockey makes everything else in sports look silly. That was a blast to watch. Pav and Jimmy -- thank you very much! The great Howard showed up tonight. I'm gonna need hours to calm down from that win. -

Not sure what ranks higher on his "list", but I'm pretty confident he isn't doing those things either. Unless floating around like a bum is on there, then I'm sold. -

Get Franzen away from Pavel. I don't even care if Abby stays, but give Pavel a winger that is actually going to compete. Everyone else for the Red Wings has ramped up the intensity. -

Smith is a better forward than Franzen. -

It will probably change closer to game time, but I'm not nervous or anything about this series. Just looking forward to watching the Red Wings in the playoffs after a challenging regular season is a treat alone. Anything they do from this point on is just a bonus and the future is very bright regardless. That being said, I still want to win badly. It's a monumental task, though the Red Wings have been up for every obstacle thrown at them. Not sure they have enough to beat the Bruins four times, but they will absolutely be tough to eliminate. Let's Go Red Wings! -
Quincey has been quite improved since earlier in the season, but there was nowhere to go but up. My problem with Quincey just being "decent" is the price tag. I don't think you give up a first rounder and sign someone for nearly four million dollars and then say not being a complete trainwreck is now acceptable. While Quincey has mostly cleaned up his glaring defensive gaffes, he still produces nothing offensively. I still don't even think he's all that solid overall defensively either, but anyone looks good when you have Kindl and Lashoff on the same team as a comparison. Holland will probably re-sign him because "he knows the system" or whatever and the Red Wings are apparently content with riding a makeshift, poor defense until some of the prospects are ready to go. I would let Quincey walk regardless -- pursue someone in free agency that can move the puck. Even in a weak class of d-men, there are options superior to Quincey.

Not that I would necessarily agree with the decision, but my guess would be Jurco. Babs loves Glendening too much for him to sit.
-
"Playoff" Franzen (if you even want to call him that anymore) better show up or that's a complete waste of Pavel Datsyuk. Abby isn't so bad if Z is on the other wing, but bored Franzen makes that line a wreck. There's a much bigger sample size of Pav and Franzen not clicking than Pav and Gus. Babs has been forcing Pav and Franzen together for years with no real success. Now it's just with Abby, instead of Bertuzzi.
-
I can deal with Abby playing with Pav a little more if Franzen isn't on that line too. Both of them combined is just wasting Pavel unless Franzen decides to play hockey again soon. Nyquist - Datsyuk - Abby Tatar - Sheahan - Jurco Franzen - Helm - Alfie Miller - Glendening - Legwand Franzen and Alfie really have to be better offensively for the Wings to compete with the Bruins. The kid line will be fine and Glendening's line will be important because I think it would be ideal to get Bergeron away from Datsyuk.
-
I'm gonna say Bruins in six. I wouldn't hesitate in picking the Red Wings to win if Z and Ericsson were healthy. Otherwise, I just don't trust the defense being strong enough to contain a very big and deep Bruins forward group. Howard is going to have to play like last postseason for the Red Wings to have any shot in pulling the upset. The kids will compete hard and play the Bruins tough, but this is a machine of an opponent.
-
Agreed. With both of those two playing, I would seriously like the Wings chances of winning the series. Z is a playoff beast and E is really necessary to make the defense somewhat steady. The Bruins are a machine and I don't trust the Wings defense at all right now, let alone against a deep and big forward group. Jimmy is going to have to be the goalie from last year's playoffs for any shot. Regardless, I'm stoked just to see playoff hockey from the Red Wings. They really shouldn't be there at all given the way the regular season went, so anything they do now is a bonus.

Rooted against Columbus for weeks and now I'm a huge fan of theirs.

Sproul and Ouellet recalled from Grand Rapids
GoWings1905 replied to PumpkinEscobar's topic in General
This has to be solely just to rest Kronner and another d-man tomorrow. If they wanted a serious look for the playoffs, it would have happened before this point. As much as I want other options beyond Lashoff and Kindl, throwing these two into the fire against Boston wouldn't be fair. -
Really good and dragging around two bums for wingers.
