Just not the Wings night. Defensive miscues, awful lines and a lack of intensity really until the third period. Definitely a letdown game after clinching. Pav really needs new linemates for the playoffs. Babs has to get that sorted out because Franzen is atrocious and Abby's lack of skill was on full display blowing multiple scoring chances. Alfie wasn't much of an upgrade in the third either. Looks like it will be the Bruins. Columbus plays Florida tomorrow, so I would probably just rest guys on Sunday if that game ends up meaning nothing in the standings.

Change the lines for the third. Bad enough it has taken this long. Pav and Franzen doesn't work, let alone throwing cement hands on that line too. This game is still winnable if the Wings get after it and hit the net this period.

Quincey's mandatory penalty per game. The defense is a nightmare. It's like a competition between Lashoff, Kindl, Smith and Quincey each night of which can outdo the other in stupidity.

Darren Helm has hands like Datsyuk compared to Abby.

Alfie looks 71 years old or whatever he is most games since the Olympics. Not sure if he's hurt, tired or both but he seems off.

Pathetic. Nothing like anchoring your best player with a lazy winger on one side and no-skill winger on the other. Put Jurco back on the kid line instead of Gus or up with Pavel. Abby needs to skate around and hit people on the fourth line, not be asked to play a first line role. Just not a fit at all.

Ahh Jimmy, terrible rebound control. No way that puck should get kicked out there. Seems like the Wings have to work so hard to score and other teams get a couple chances and it goes in the net. Guess that's what happens with a horrid defense and sketchy goaltending.

Ugh, the Bruins or Pens are going to have a field day with Lashoff and/or Kindl out there. Lashoff definitely wasn't drafted for a reason.

No kidding. Funny how the Wings have largely dictated play and the Penguins have four consecutive PP's in the game. The Penguins apparently haven't committed any infractions since the first period.

Except Howard hasn't really struggled lately. Everyone wanted Monster to start because he was winning games, even though his numbers weren't that great. Jimmy has been playing much better recently and winning games in the process. That third goal tonight might cost the Red Wings a shot to clinch in a game they deserve at least a point.

Should have started Jimmy tonight. He is on a winning streak and could have rested either Friday or Sunday once the playoffs were wrapped up.

Monster is awful. The Pens have about 15 shots and three have gone in the net. Sure, he won games the first half of the season, but his numbers aren't good at all after the new year. Wings have controlled this game and then that goal goes in. Howard would have six pages of posts if he let that through.

To be fair, he hasn't delivered in the playoffs for about four years now either. That was always his fallback for disappearing for long stretches during the regular season. Sad thing is, up until about three weeks ago, Franzen was very engaged throughout this season when healthy. Now, he's back to being a non-factor.
