Why are the Wings letting Bertuzzi play still? He's a liability at even strength. Lineup is decimated anyways, just let the kids go and end the dead weight nonsense.

Hard to expect much of anything with that lineup, let alone a serious push into the playoffs. Need a big night from Franzen and Nyquist. Goals are hard to find, so another scoring tear from one or both would be huge. I really miss Henrik Zetterberg. I feel like just his presence alone would drastically alter our opinions of reaching the playoffs.

Bertuzzi, Cleary and Samuelsson are absolutely gone IMO. I would assume the Red Wings want Legwand back or that trade looks even more ridiculous. It seems like a Holland move to try and get another year out of Alfie, but I wouldn't be opposed at all to moving on. I would rather have Jurco around full time than Alfie if it comes down to one or the other. Z, Datsyuk, Franzen, Helm, Weiss, Nyquist, Tatar, Abdelkader and Miller are probably all locks at forward next season. I don't see any way you don't have Sheahan and Jurco on the team after what they have proven in Detroit. There's 11 forwards already and we haven't gotten to the likes of Glendening, Andersson, Pulkkinen, Ferraro or Callahan. I would probably let every free agent walk besides Legwand. I don't know if I really even want him to return, but it makes me feel better about losing Jarnkrok if Legwand doesn't turn into a 20-game rental. Defense is in shambles, so that's where the priority needs to lie with the cap space.

It may happen anyways indirectly between the injuries and schedule. Not something I expect Babcock or the kids fighting for jobs next season to embrace, though.

Yeah, might be time to officially call this season lost. Let the Euro-Twins heal all summer and hopefully come back healthy in the fall. Such a shame that years of their careers have been lost or wasted by poor personnel decisions lately. Problem is the injury bug hasn't been just this season. There's hardly any guarantee it will go away, especially with guys that have struggled to stay on the ice like Helm and Weiss. This team could be very good soon between the kids' emergence and a healthy roster. Still need serious upgrades on defense, though.

Hossa destroys Franzen. Everyone but Kenny Holland knew this in 2009.

I'm leaning very strongly to not wanting either Legwand or Alfie back. The youth have all earned their spots and they would be the ones getting squeezed out if they bring back a glut of forwards.

Alfie, Abby and Legwand have been invisible. They all play too many minutes with the injuries to not step up and contribute offensively. You can try and play a more defensive style, but you have to possess actual competent d-men for that to be successful. The schedule is so daunting too. I just don't see how this group of players is going to be able to win enough down the stretch. Season was over when Z's ended.

Quincey and Smith play one shift together and botch it. There's a natural goal-scorer. Don't know what that looks like.

The Hawks players are just like their fans: universally unlikeable.

Abdelkader has been brutal lately. He goes through stretches where he brings energy and hits everything in sight and other times where he is a liability. You can mask his lack of skill with Pav and Z, but he is dragging Sheahan and Tatar down right now.

That can't happen. Absolutely demoralizing after a pretty decent period. Nobody is anywhere near Kane and then this pathetic defense can't clear the front of the net either.

Missed a month and a half rotting in the minors too. He has been excellent. Bickell is an idiot. Make them pay again.
