Unbelievable. Babs just said Jimmy is out for awhile. This team cannot catch a break. EDIT: I guess Jimmy is fine to backup tomorrow, so maybe it isn't as serious as Babs made it sound. No telling though given how prolonged injuries seem to become this season.

Huge win for the Red Wings! Great to get two points against a tough team and with Anaheim looming tomorrow. Howard has been sensational in two of the past three starts. Just a matter of finding consistency, but he stole this game for the Red Wings tonight. Sheahan and Tatar have good chemistry together. Gotta love how hard both of them played. Very happy with a win as the standings are so tight. Keep treading water until the injured come back.

Cleary! Great hustle and pass by Glendening. Honestly, I was just about to post asking why the hell that line was on the ice with three minutes left and a one-goal lead.
-
Completely agree. Bertuzzi is decent creating space and getting out of the way of the Euro-Twins, but otherwise he contributes nothing. I know Babs loves "big bodies" and a net-front presence, but I can't recall hardly any instances this season where Bert being in front of the net has resulted in him deflecting the puck. Just seems given the linemates he typically has and the PP time, he should be producing more on the score sheet. The penalties bother me more than anything. I've never seen a player take so many hooking calls 200 feet from his own net.

Tatar! Awesome tribute to his dad on what has to be an incredibly tough night to be out there. Sheahan looks really good too.
-
I'm about done with Bertuzzi too. I wouldn't care if him, Cleary and Sammy were all benched when/if the Wings ever get healthy. Bertuzzi gets quality linemates, doesn't contribute much offensively and takes terrible penalties.
-
Sole reason this game is still 1-1.
-
Quincey is such a disaster. Can't we see more of Marchenko instead?
-
Tatar is relentless. Definitely been the Wings best player in the new year. Glad to see Sheahan get his first. I have been impressed with him in the games he has been up. Really want him to stick around this season as the fourth line center.
-
Of course, no goaltender interference either on Brown. They have waved off goals before for a lot less than that.
-
You gotta be kidding me. The officiating in this league has hit rock bottom this season.
-
Enough with the right-handed nonsense. Samuelsson should play about two minutes per game if he has to dress and absolutely never on the PP. Put Smith out there.
-
Still no Pav or Helm either? It seems like reported day-to-day injuries with this team always turn into weeks. Six regulars out again tonight. I do like that "second line" though. Hopefully they provide such much needed energy and chip in offensively since Z's line is likely the only other one able to score.
-
I hope Sheahan stays up for good. I personally like what he provides as a fourth line center more than Glendening. The Wings could use some more big bodies at forward.

Babs says that garbage constantly and it's consistently inaccurate. If this team is going to be overwhelmingly mediocre anyways, I want Nyquist and Tatar playing a lot of minutes. Dan Cleary has no role here in the future (realistically, not sure in Ken Holland's world). Call up Jurco and Sheahan too. Let's at least build a foundation instead of middling in mediocrity with a bunch of pieces that have no long-term value.

Dirty elbow by Cleary, but it's the Sharks so tough to work up sympathy.
-
Best Kyle Quincey moment of the season by far. Punching that diving ugly clown in the face.
-
Chris Rooney is a joke. The Sharks flop to the ice and get the call every time. Their diving never changes and somehow the NHL lets it continue.
-
What a dive, but nothing new with the Sharks. Red Wings have no margin for error on this trip with this lineup and the tough competition. Pav and Helm really need to return soon or it's going to be a struggle to make the playoffs with the inconsistency this roster produces regardless of health.
-
Defense is completely inept at clearing the zone against an aggressive forecheck. Thornton's line is killing Z's tonight head-to-head.
-
The Red Wings just can't afford goals against like that with this group of forwards.
-
I think they both have unique skill sets that make them exciting. Tatar definitely has better hands and goal-scoring ability, but Nyquist is a superior skater and probably a more complete two-way player. I've been more impressed with Tatar of the two this season, but Nyquist hasn't been disappointing either.
-
Not really fair considering Franzen hasn't played in a month. Franzen was going great before the injury too.
-
Really strong period for the Red Wings. The Thornton line is giving them fits, but otherwise the Wings are skating hard. Is there ever a game the Sharks don't get assistance from the refs? The playoff series and all the diving they got away with still pisses me off. Looks like the penalties are going to be lopsided yet again.
-
Tatar! Those hands are ridiculous. Don't give him more ice time though, Babs.
