I don't know how much blame is deserving on the two goals, but Jimmy Howard cannot hold a lead at all this season. Up two on the road against Florida and the Wings stop skating in the third. The Panthers are just outplaying them entirely this period.

Of course it worked too. Doesn't matter if penalties are legitimate in this league -- they always come attached with future makeup calls to even things out.

Where did I say anything about moving the puck? The Wings got skated into the ground, turned the puck over a ton and generated hardly anything offensively. Sure, injuries affect that, but this issue runs way beyond just tonight at home. The Red Wings consistently have extremely poor efforts at the Joe.You gotta do far better than that showing against the Florida Panthers.

Only line creating anything tonight is the top one. Otherwise everyone else is sloppy and getting outskated badly.

Put Tatar back up with Franzen and Nyquist. Worked far better than Bertuzzi has.

Tatar! Way to take advantage of a horrible call. Another solid road win given the injuries. Gus, Tatar and Franzen played great. Monster with some timely saves and he gets the team two points again. -

Yes it was. I don't want to pile on Jimmy because he's our goalie going forward, but that's the type of save he hasn't been making. -

Emmerton is a plug, but he could at least not hurt the team. No one expects him to help, however, that's a terrible penalty to take. -

PP zone entry is atrocious without Z or Pavel to skate the puck in. I know it isn't their typical move, but maybe dump it in and go get it instead. Skating through four defenders at the blue line isn't working. -
The Red Wings struggled offensively last season too. Everyone has always been well aware that Z's back is a lingering issue and Helm's injuries have been more freakish than anything. I don't see where these predictions are exactly profound statements.

The Wings had the most man games lost to injury in the West last season, so I don't know how much substance is behind that theory. Injuries have been a major issue for this team basically every year since 2008.

Yeah, that's true. I thought otherwise his speed and creativity were pretty noticeable. He was stronger on the puck too than you would expect for someone his size. The whole team struggled getting set up on the PP, which isn't too shocking given they were down their two best players. Pavel and Z are terrific at zone entry on the PP.

I think losing might be somewhat expected given the injury situation, but the way the Red Wings lost this game is still disappointing. Major implosion after getting a lead in what was a winnable game even without Z and Pavel. Gotta tread water for a bit here. Without your best players, you really have to focus for 60 minutes. Monster should be getting the bulk of starts too. He finds a way to win games.

Tatar and Nyquist have been excellent tonight. The usual list of suspects were bad. Sadly, you have to include Weiss and Jimmy in that grouping right now. They gotta figure out this consistently poor effort at home mess real soon.

Not surprising, but the PP entry is bad without Z and Pavel.
