To be fair to Heatley, there wasn't alcohol involved. However, I still believe he should have been suspended.

HUH?! In English, please. I'd take Hank. If you are building a team you need a leader. There is a reason why Hank got an "A" before Dats.

Are those pics you are getting from Getty of Ozzie this season tho? I just looked at some pics, looks like they are the Itech's. And now that I think about it, it was Holmqvist down in Tampa that has the Sherwood pads. Oops!
-
I'm fairly certain that Ozzie isn't wearing Itech's this year. I think these are the pads he is wearing, made by Sherwood, they are the 9990 series. The only difference from the pic here, he Ozzie has just red, not black. Sorry, but I couldn't find any pics of him using them.

The NHL does have guidelines about off ice behavior. It's a joke that he wasn't even suspended for what he did. Even though this is completely off topic, and a whole different can of worms.

Let it go. The Wings aren't moving into the East.

The Central isn't that strong. Time will show that. But Detroit has proven that it is a top 3 team in the West.

25 doesn't seem long enough to me. Comparing this to what Downie did, I think he should have gotten more. What he did was far worse that what Downie did, no question. I'll believe the NHL is really cracking down when a star gets this type of suspension. Until then, this means nothing. So far Campbell has suspended two meaningless guys.

Should Pavel and Hank stay on the same line?

That's what I was getting at. But the Problem is the Wings don't have a second line. Seriously folks, Franzen? Sammy? Flip? Rex? Let's be realistic here, those are third line guys. The Euro twins produce with each other, having Homer on that line is meaningless. You put Franzen there, the production is quite similar. However, here is the logic in splitting them up. You can't win a Cup with one line. Just won't happen. And with the guys currently on the roster, the Wings have no real scoring depth for the playoffs. What they have is a great first line, 2 solid third lines and a great fourth line. That isn't going to bring the Cup back to Detroit. Guys like Rex, Flip, Sammy, Franzen, and Draper can't be counted on to put up second line numbers, especially in the playoffs. So yes, having the twins together is great, but when you split them up, you force opponents to choose which one to play the top pairing against. Without a legit threat on the second line, the Wings can't bring home the Cup. Scoring a ton in the regular season is fine and dandy, but at the end of the summer, I want to see the boys in red, lifting silver. -
why do players even bother appealing to the officials?

The same way we all know this moron has an IQ that makes a goldfish look like a rocket scientist. -

I love to watch them together, it's poetry in motion. However, I would rather have the threat of them playing on different lines. I think in order to make that work, Kenny needs to work the phones and get a top six winger on this team. -
Wow, talk about a double standard here. There is CLEAR intent to injure here. Far more obvious than the Downie hit. Show me on instance where it is acceptable to crosscheck someone in the jaw. For you to crucify Downie for what he did, and try to justify this?! Are you nuts? This is the worst think I've seen in hockey since Chris Simon wanted to be a lumberjack. Again, it was Downie's shoulder not his elbow, regardless, a stick to the face (like this one) is far worse. Kessler was lucky to be able to get up and skate off. He is lucky to have his jaw intact, rather than wired shut. That is the type of thing that is unacceptable. And seriously, 10-15 games? Lets start from 25 and work up from there. It's nice to see someone else is of sound mind on these boards!!

I just found out about 3 seconds ago that Mateen Cleaves (who the hell is he anyhow?) played for the Pistons. Seriously folks, I love to go see the boys play live. Nothing beats it. I love knowing what to expect at the Joe, the classic stuff as a previous poster called it. This is my biggest problem. I live an hour and a half from the Joe, you have to pay for parking, tickets aren't cheap, and we all know the concessions are ridiculous. Every single game I goto I can expect to drop over $100 BEFORE paying for my tickets. Illitch needs to get some marketing gurus together and offer some ticket packages like they do for the Tigers (4 tickets, 4 sodas, 4 hot dogs for whatever price.) Just getting people in the rink will generate revenue, even if the tickets are basically given away for free.

The New York Islanders traded Olli Jokien and Roberto Luongo to the Florida Panthers for Mark Parrish and Oleg Kvasha. What the hell were they thinking!?!?!?

Mmmmmm that crow tastes fantstic. I'm not quite sure how I misread that paragraph. Oops!

One can't help but wonder..... WTF!?!?!?!?!

Rule 84.4 The losing goaltender is charged an extra goal against. Check it out.
-
In 2000, the NHL expanded by two teams, the Jackets, and Wild. GPG was 5.49 in 2000, and in 2001 (the first season for those two teams) goal scoring indeed went up again. Albeit just to 5.51 GPG, it still went up.
-
I'm not sure why the NHL chose not to include the shootout goals in the skaters stats. Rule 84.4 is the shootout rule, it states that the losing goaltender tacked with another goal against in his personal stats, so not giving the players a goal seems odd, if not unfair.
-
That's quite possible, but this is how I see it. With contraction, you'd have more talented guys on each roster. The higher the talent, generally speaking, the fewer mistakes. With expansion, the less number of talented guys, the more mistakes will happen. More mistakes will lead to more goals. History is on my side here. The first round of expansion in 67-68 saw the NHL's scoring increase from 5.58 GPG to 5.96 GPG. In the 70's when the NHL again began to add teams, scoring again went up. In 70-71 6.24 GPG, 72-73 6.55 GPG, 74-75 6.85 GPG. What happened in 76-77 when KC folded? GPG dropped to 6.24 GPG. Then in 79-80 with the WHL merger, 7.03 GPG. The 90's saw expansion but no scoring increase to coincide with it. Some argue that this is due to the fact that this is when the "euro-invasion" began. In 92-93 the NHL added two teams, and saw it's GPG go from 6.62 to 7.25. The stats don't lie. Here is the link to the article where I got most of the stats.

It's funny how any point of view other than your own is aways wrong. It must be great fun talking to you. BTW, what should I do with my investment portfolio? I don't want to make the wrong decision, and since you are always right, I just thought I'd ask. THANKS!!
