I agree with most of this. I disagree with the goaltending. I think Hasek is too unpredictable. If we get the Dom from game 6 in Calgary and games 5 and 6 in the San Jose series, I think it's too close to call. But that's just it. In the majority of the games, Dom hasn't been great, namely in the San Jose series giving up those early 2 goal leads, and too many soft goals. I think Giggy is a very good goaltender. He is going to be supremely tough, and his ability is only enhanced by the fact that the Ducks are so solid on the blue line. I also disagree with the prediction. I understand picking a team in a game 7. We all do it, I'm guilty. My logic is this, in a game 7 anything can happen, alla San Jose in '94. To pick one team or another is too hard, there are so many factors leading up to a game 7. I'll go with the same prediction I made for the first two series, Detroit in 6.

I just can't see the Wings winning the bidding war on Giggy, and everyone is crying about an unproven goaltender, and that is what Backstrom is. He was good, not great, good for a half of a season, playing in a system that is very goaltender friendly. I don't think Kenny is going to try and sign a guy like that, especially given what happened to the Sens with Gerber. I would much rather see Liv or Howard get a shot first.

Yes, the Ducks did beat the Nucks, I said he can a series for his team, not that is was a garuntee. Obviously he didn't even take Florida to the playoffs, so you need a lil more than just Luongo. But he is one of the top 3 goalies in the NHL today.

Flip doesn't need to be re-signed until next season, Kop is signed through 08-09, I would like to see Markov back, just not at anything more than $2. I think Quincey, Kindl, and or Meech could step up, I'd like to see them get a shot, and Cheli stay. I don't like the idea of Calder coming back, I think he will be available price wise, but he just doesn't do much. Lang if he would take around $2.5 I'd sign him, Hasek will probably be back, Matty if he takes $3 or less. As far as signing a UFA goalie, the only big name available this offseason is Giggy. I really like his style of play, but I don't think Kenny will go after a big name without finding out what he has is Liv and Howard. So next year even though he is only making $1.5, we take a hit of $3? I don't understand the cap, as I'm sure none of us really do, but I would think that it would be the total of his contract spread out over the length?

I would have to say on paper, we are the least likely to win the Cup, but as Mick likes to say, 'That's why we play the games!'

Why do you hate him? He is a class act, no one plays harder or with more passion. He is the type of player we need. Maybe not at that price tag...

I think if there was a way to get the motivated Sergei to come to the rink every night, we would have had the best player ever to lace up a pair of skates. Detroit has had stellar goaltending prospects berfore. Marcle and Hudson, both got brought up too early, and look what hapened!

The only reason to have a consolation series is when a consolation prize is awarded. The NHL doesn't recognize the loser of the Cup finals, why should the bother with anything else? Besides, it's all about ratings, next to no one would watch on T.V., or more important, attend the games.

Even if his injury is no longer a concern, there is no way he could be in game-shape. It isn't like he had a injury that allowed him to skate, he hasn't been doing anything while recovering. I don't see how he could crack the lineup even if the Wings make it to the finals.

I don't think a tether is the soultion. Dom could cut that with his skate. I've talked at length about this with my friends. I suggest an electric shock collar. This would allow Babs to shock him when he wants to get Dom attention. In all seriousness, yes a goalie playing the puck CAN help, but Dom has got to be the worst in the NHL at it. He almost always places the puck in an awkward position for his dman to pick it up. It doesn't always cause bad things, but he almost always makes things much harder than necessary. It would be one thing if he were to just stop the puck, and leave it there for the damn to grab it. But he never does, he always needs to move it somewhere. It's unnecessary, and considering his puck handeling ability, he should try to not do that as much as possible. Case and point: If Dom had the ability and knowhow to play the puck correctly, that doesn't happen.

That would never work, NJ is getting a new arena anyhow. They don't need two, they cant even fill one!!

I wouldn't want Dom back at more than $1.5 because of the injury risk factor, as you stated, just rises as he gets older. They had to put him on waivers to send him to the minors. Mind you I think they were trying to showcase him for a trade value, but that didn't work, so they did the next best thing to get rid of him. With Howard and Liv, Mac didn't have a real shot in this organization.

I heard LA is sending Danny C, 3 pucks, 2 water bottles, and 5 sticks signed by Kopitar to Pittsburg for Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Fluery, the rights to Mario. Then they are sending Mario's rights to Montreal for 6 first round picks, 3 pucks, 2 water bottle, and Koviu. Just word on the street.

If money were no object, I could see tha happening, but if you want to actually have a legit chance at beating anyone other than Chicago and Columbus, we can't afford Drury. And Backstrom, why? He is largely unproven. He played well for what, less than a half season, and didn't win a playoff series. What is so special about him?

Saying this trying to sound as civil as possible as I mean no ill-effect, I hope the Sharks not only lose, but I hope they get destroyed, like Detroit did to Colorado back in '02 (I think it was) when we beat them 7-0, embarassed Patty 'I thought it was in my glove' Roy. Here's to the Wings in 6!!!!
