TB, NYR, and PHO respectively? I think that works for me, as long as I got that right! lol

That is quite possible, I've heard it described as a 'Cup bonus' so it could be paid per round, but why would he get $450k for the first round? I would think that the bonus for each round would get bigger, say $100k first round, $200k secound round, $300k third round, and $600 for the Cup. Make sense?

Now I'm totally lost lol......we need nicknames for these guys so I don't get them confused.

I am pretty certian that the Cup bonus is $1.1 itself, I'm not sure about any other bonus per round.

    Chris Drury...

Best nickname in hockey, Hockey God Chris Drury. LOVE IT. The guy has ice flowing through his veins. Well, maybe just really cold water. He is a clutch, big game preformer. Any team who gets him is instantly better. I can still remember when the Avs let him go, and Tanguay too. I was shocked. Two of the best players in the world. Hah, whever have the Avs been since? Guess I really can't complain lol!

I don't remember the specifics, but his base was $750k ish, and he has preformace bonuses for the regular season. The site I have listed his salary owed this season at about $1.5 so far. I am pretty sure it's $1.1 for the Cup bonus. I'm at work, and after work I am headed to the bar to catch the game. If I remember, when I get home, I'll post the link to the site I am referring to.

Teams Marcus thinks will be scary next season

    1. Devils - As long as Marty is in net for NJ, they will be a scary team. He has won Cups before without much scoring help. He is the premier 'tender in the league right now. 2. Lightning - This team may have found it's soultion to the goaltending issues in Lunqvist. He was pretty solid, espically for not getting much help. I don't think the $40 cap is a good idea, if they are serious about this, it means they acutally need to cut payroll from this season. This would make it impossible to re-sign Boyle, and make any significant improvements. Getting rid of Richards via trade won't happen. I could be wrong but I think he has a no-trade clause, if not his high salary pretty much is just that. I know St. Louis has a no-trade, leaving Vinny as the only possible trade. And the GM has been quoted several time saying "I don't want to be known as the GM who traded away Vinny." So, that won't happen. If they spend a lil more, buy out Denis, they have a chance to be dominate. Boyle MUST be re-signed. 3. Thrashers - They don't have the goaltending you need to be a dangerous team. They need an upgrade badly. I would like Kieth T walk, as well as Zhitnik, and go after Giggy with the money he would have spent on them. 4. Vancouver - Anytime you have a gamer like Luongo, you have a chance. Luongo single handedly kept them in the series against the Ducks. If they can get Nasln\und and Morrison going, look out. 5. Wild - I don't see this team being a real threat. They don't play a style that lets their scorers score or one that expects everyone to play soundly on defense. They need to get deeper.

According to a site I found, we owe Dom about another $800k already, and an additional $1.1 if we win the Cup. I'm not saying he'd ask for a ridiculous amount, but I really can't see spending more than $1-1.5 on him as a good investment. I'd take him with the same contract or near it, but not much more. I love Ozzie, he is the ideal mentor for Howard and Liv. I would like to see Ozzie get more love and PT. I think he would be just fine as a starter, giving him about 30-40 games, and breaking up the other 40-50 between Howard and Liv, depending on their preformances.

Well, given his stats this season, he may want more money than he would be worth to us. I couldn't justify spending more than what we did this year on him. IMO there is too much injury risk with him to pay him more. But the original idea of this thread was in the event Hasek doesn't return, regardless of why, what would we do for a goaltender.

Picture Bill Murray tied to the mast of a sailboat yelling "I'm sailing! I'm sailing! Dr. Marvin, I'm sailing! I'm a sailor!" LMAO!!! Bobby Lang yelling at Babs, 'I'm scoring! I'm scoring! Coach Babs, I'm a scorer!" lol

As far as Belfour is concerned, Dom is also way passed his prime, so what makes him so different? The only guy worth looking at in the group you mentioned is Aebischer, much like Denis and Theodore, he has just been on the wrong end of a bad season. Theodore can play under pressure, he did win an MVP while playing in Montreal, arguably the hardest city for a goaltender to play. I still maintain if Dom wants to come back, and he is willing to take a paycut (his salary was over $1.5 this season) to return, sign him.

Howe, Yzerman voted 4th and 6th best NHL players ever

Not to take anything away from those two guys, but isn't that the same site that had Ozzie rated 13th best goaltender of all-time?

2007 Photoshop War: Red Wings vs Sharks

I've looked through quite a few of these pages, a lot of hilarious stuff . I have an idea, but I don't have the resources or talent to bring it to life, so maybe someone here can. Sorry if it's been done, let me know though, I'd like to see it if it has. My idea is this, someone shoudl take something from the movie 'What About Bob?' and do something, obviously for Bobby Lang....

+/- is HUGE. I'm not saying the guy needs to be the best at it every year, but it just goes to show that he isn't very defensively sound. And as a dman, that is a problem if you aren't putting up points. No regular Detroit dman was a minus last year, Kronwall was the closest he was 0 or even. As far as the second line goes, I think the Wings should sign Bert. He will take a paycut if it's with Detroit or not. No one will pay him $6 per. I could see maybe $3 or $4 per, but that's stretching it for a guy who hasn't done much in these playoffs. If the Wings sign him, I am a big fan of seeing Bert - Flip - Rex as our second line. It would create something similar to the Homer - Pave - Hank line, and Flip and Rex have showed they deserve a steady shot. Finally, paying Sarich $4 per is just nuts, but I'm sure someone will. I just don't think Kenny would dish out that kinda cash for an unproven dman.

After seeing how the whole Ryan Smith situation played out, I highly doubt that Iggy will get moved. He wants to stay, Sutter wants him back. He will be a Flame for at least the next few years. Kipper and Iggy will eat up about $12-14 of the salary cap. Calgary will work from there.

Sarich will command at least $3 per. I don't see the bargin in that. Markov made $2.5 this season. I'd rather have him back at about the same, than bring in Sarich, who will likely seek about $4. If we are going to spend that much on a dman, why not bring Matty back? Or even make a pitch at Andre Markov? No one on the Wings current roster, outside from Lidstrom, can provide the offense that Matty does. It's a joke to say that Kronwall can. Kronwall hasn't put up numbers that even would lead one to think he could equal or surpass what Matty does. And with Kronwalls injury history, you don't know what you can count on. Leba does have the wheels, but he isn't ready to provide the offensive boost either. Sarich has never gotten 20 points in a season, never more than 5 goals (he has 10 career goals), he has been on the positive side of the +/- once with a +3, for his career he is a -38. I don't see him a a significant replacement over Markov. Very similar stats. Markov will be cheaper, so why not keep him?

We'd have to trade for Turco, I don't think we have what it would take to get him. Kipper is signed through next season, our first crack at him would be after the 0-08 season.

Sarich made $2, he will get at least $# from someone, he would be not much cheaper than Matty, and he isn't as good.

Rex needs to be signed this offseason, and Flip next I just don't see them getting significant raises, yet. I agree with the Howard assesment, don't forget about Liv, and as for as I know, Larsson isn't under a current contract. At least I couldn't find any site that said he was.

I think we can count on the cap going up for at least the next 5 years. With markets like Detroit, LA, NY, Toronto, ect. the cap should go up no problem. It was designed to go up, and the original cap set so low becuse the NHL brass wasn't sure how well the game would do out of the gate after the lock out. I do agree, I think Giggy is over rated. He is a great goalie, but not on Marty, Kipper or Luongo's level. He is right on the bubble, and I would love to have him though. Yes some guys will get raises over the next few years, but guys will take cuts as well. Malts just took about a 500k cut. More important is that I dont think Hudler and Flip will make much more than $1 a year. Hudler is make just over 500k and Flip is making just over 700k. I think you will see them both with 3 year deal that give them about a 400-600k raise. And what makes you think Kipper would be any cheaper than Giggy, or that he would be available? I don't think Calgary will let him walk, and honestly, I don't see the Ducks letting Giggy walk either. They do have Bryzgalov signed through next season, and I think if they were to re-sign Giggy, they could trade Bryzgalov, as he is only making $1.3 next season. That is pretty affordable, and there will be plenty of teams lining up to get a crack at him. BTW, nice post. I love it when people actually can have a discussion on these threads, and it doesn't turn into a pissing contest!

Hah, yeah, he could be a problem, but this area is nothing new to him. He has a summer home about 10 minutes from where I live. Downtown Detroit really ins't a big party scene.

Compared to Stu Grimson or Larry Murphy, he's pretty quick actually.
