    Flying stick

This is for everyone who watched the FSN feed. I noticed something when Ken Daniels was on ice level before the game, just after interviewing Hank. It was probably between 3 and 7 minutes after the interview, over his right shoulder are the Wings warming up, on his left are the SHarks doing the same. You see a Wing come into the screen off balance, I think it was Drapes. He kinda fell, and the coming out from Ken's left shoulder you see a stick flying through the air as if it were a spear. At first I thought I was mistaken, but then I rewinded the DVR, and sure enough, it was a stick. I couldn't stop laughing. Anyone else catch this? Just curious.

Canadian Politicians upset with Shane Doan as Team Canadas Captain

This would be like George W. and Al Gore arguing that Roger Clemens should be the captian of the U.S. baseball team. Who really gives a flying f*uck? It's a sport, not politics. Seriously, would anyone care if one of the members of parliment said something not so nice to Doan? Should then that member of parliment be removed? Come on people, get over it!!

Hasek voted 4th Best NHL goaltender ever

Before I answer your question I'm trying to think about where Hasek is all-time shutouts, wins, Sv%, GAA.....

Yes, I have wathed every single game possible. I've missed one game, the second game against Calgary. Did you actually read my original post? I never said Franzen should sit, rather I would sit him before sitting Bert.

To insinuate that one has a drug problem is classy? Wow, I guess my morals are way out of wack... I never said Franzen should be sat, rather that I would rather see him sit than Bert. I think when you see Bert have a good game, look at his linemates, then in the '3 or 4' bad ones he has following, look at his linemates. Bert is a big guy who can handle the puck, and throw hsi weight around. He is not a guy who can take over a game by himself, he needs someone to work with, alla Naslund. I love the idea of Huds-Flip-Bert as a second line, Drapes-Cleary-Franzen as the third, and Sammy-Lang-Malts as a fourth line.

    Lil' Flip

You gotta love this kid. All he does is play solid hockey. And the more I see of him, the more I am convinced he looks like a young Sergei Fedorov (talent wise). The way he plays the game, how fluid his skating is, and how he sees the ice. I am really excited about this kid.

What does Mikael Samuelsson bring to the table?

So the Wings are outscored by 10 other teams in teh regular season, and they make goalies look good? And the Nick, Franzen, Sammy thing was in regards to someone saying Sammy setup the OT winner in Calgary.

Babcock is not a good coach

Well, I will give you this, Babs is no Bowman. But past that the coach can only do so much.

Remember Sergei wasn't so hollywood early in his career.....Flips already got the bleach blonde hair, and big blue eyes, he's half way there!

    Lil' Flip

True, and trust me, I am a HUGE Sergei fan I know what kind of gamebreaker he is. But Flip is on his way to being a Sergei type player. I think if you are trying to find someone with the raw talent that Sergei has, you are talking about maybe 5 guys in the league. But Flip has the desire and drive Sergei doesn't. That's what excites me about Flip, he is a gamer, with serious potential and skills.

Outside from the Steve Moore incident, which you cannot prove Bert actually broke his neck or the 15 guys who piled on top, where does Bert get his dirty rep from?

    Paralyzed Snow Angel of Defeat

I'm not saying it's bad, just not as good as everyone thinks it is. BTW, remember we have played 8 games. Any NHL goaltender can put up huge numbers in eight games. But the only stat that I really care about is wins, we need 11 more of them. You know, every time I try to tell people that the Sv% is a crutial stat, I get reemed for it. So here is me saying I AGREE, Sv% IMO is a much more telling stat than GAA.

That is comical. The Wings are 2-0 without him, sure. But look at those two game, the Flames played like an AHL team. Bert may have taken some bad penalties, but the way the game was officiated had a lot to do with that. I'm not arguing his penalties were bad calls, but the refs let much worse go. (Well, that elbow was pretty brutal) Besides, I think the Wings should sit a guy like Sammy or Franzen before Bert.

What does Mikael Samuelsson bring to the table?

While Sammy is a decent two-way player I feel his biggest attribute is his shot. If you want to wear out a goalies chest, and force the equipment manager to stitch a new logo on his jersey, Sammy is your guy. And if my memory serves me, did Sammy pass the puck back to nick, who then gave it to Franzen. Regardless, Franzen wasn't setup for the goal. Franzen took a pass, and did the rest of the work himself.

    Paralyzed Snow Angel of Defeat

First of all, I have read in a few other posts that Haseks GAA is as good as 3rd and as poor as 13th in these playoffs. According to tsn, here are the top 5 starting goalies: Giguere 1.30 Turco 1.30 Luongo 1.70 Hasek 1.71 Here is what I can, and do ask of Hasek: 1. Play a solid 60 minute game 2. Don't try to handle the puck 3. Play better in the playoffs and the regular season 4. Steal us at least one game per series 5. Give us a chance to win every night 6. Keep your head out of your ass (i.e. no diving!!) I think so far in this series, Hasek has been decent. He hasn't hurt us, expcept on the give away Thornton goal. On the flip side, he hasn't exactly played overly well. Like I said before, in each of the last 2 periods of games 1 & 2, San Jose managed 6 shots on goal, and none were good scoring chances. I know the blame doesn't all fall on Hasek, but it all starts in goal. No matter how you spin it, you can't win in the playoffs without quality goaltending. Dom was stellar in the Calgary series, we haven't see that Dom in this series. I'm not all doom and gloom here. I think the boys can pull it out. Yes, we need a full 60 effort for the entire team, but again, it starts in goal. The bottom line is that we need Dom to shut down San Jose, and we need to light up Nabby. I am not a Hasek fan, but at the before this series began, I thought the one clear advantage either team had was Hasek over Nabby. We need better play from every position. I think injection Homer back into the lineup will help out greatly. Hopefully Lebda can get back soon too, wereally miss his speed back on the blue line.

    Paralyzed Snow Angel of Defeat

After reading most of these posts, I'm not sure what series you people have been watching, but it hasn't been the Detroit-San Jose series. Hasek has yet to outplay Nabby. In Games 1 and 2 San Jose put a total of 12 shots on goal in the final two periods. Hasek hasn't played as well as he can, or as well as we need him to. In the playoffs, just like Mick said last night, you only go as far as your goaltender takes you. We don't have the team we had in 02, when Dom could have a couple of bad game, and we could still get the win. We need Dom to pick it up. Yes, we need to score more. Yes we need to be better at just about every aspect of the game. But it all STARTS in net, that's why if we lose this seies, the blame starts with Dom, and if we win this series, the praise starts with Dom.

    Bone-crushing hits and rough play

Yeah, i'm not so sure why people are getting so upset about the title. It's an eye catching title, especially on a message board for Wings fans, which leads to more hits on the thread. It's basic writing knowledge, if your title is engaging, people are more likely to check it out.

Surprise! Nashville player ejected at Worlds.

I just watched this clip again, about 7 times. Something I just noticed. Normally when a player throws an elbow with as much force as Webber does, it's the opposite elbow from his shooting hand (a righty would use left, lefty use right). You see this because the player usually hits the opposing player in a swinging motion while holding a stick, and it's much more difficult to get any realy force behind an elbow using the arm that is the bottom hand on the stick (pick up a stick and hold it like you would while you are playing, try to throw an elbow with the top hand side, then the bottom hand side.) Judging by the sheer amout of force behind that elbow, I have to think it was premeditated. And did anyone else notice the lack of blood on the face of the player who was hit? He was lucky to escape without any serious lacerations.

Surprise! Nashville player ejected at Worlds.

What I meant by Trotz telling his players to play this style of hockey, is that Trotz is coaching his players to try hurt players. I don't think by any stretch of the imagination that Trotz actually tells his players to play dirty. There are many ways in which a coach can instruct his players, what Trotz says is one of them. As well as how he says it, and to whom he says it. Simply by standing behind Tootoo for how he plays is enough to send the message to young players that Trotz not only accepts and approves of that type of play, but it's what he wants from them. Trots doesn't have to tell Tootoo to play dirty, he is pretty good at that on his own. But a guy like Webber, come on, 60 PIMs in 79 games? That's Lady Byng material.

Let me clear things up, the title of the thread is the inside joke, and since you don't understand the joke, you wouldn't understand the last paragraph. The rest of the thread is just some thoughts of mine.
