How the hell can you blame that play on Osgood? Datsyuk lost it behind the net, then our D let them play with it infront of Osgood. Ozzie has had one bad goal this game, one!
-
Backstrom is making five times more than Osgood! Of course he should be playing better! It's not Osgoods fault he was out of postiton for the second goal, it was the defenses fault.

It's not Osgoods fault Backstrom is playing out of his mind.

You can't blame Osgood on that last play... the defense let those guys just chill in the slot uncontested, and it was Datsyuk who turned it over behind the net.

Have faith, I truly believe the Wings won't falter in the first round like all the other teams since 2003. Hope is our greatest strength, and our greatest weakness... do not lose it, and you will be rewarded. Look at these lines... Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Hudler - Franzen - Hossa Leino - Filppula - Samuelsson Cleary - Draper - Kopecky / Maltby Lidstrom - Rafalski Kronwall - Stuart Ericsson - Lebda / Chelios/ Lilja if he comes back. Those are damn good lines... good enough to over come goaltending issues. Just because we're going through a slump does not mean we will lose in the first or second round. We still have a few games left, and I don't think people like Lidstrom or Babcock will let this team fall. This slump is some adversity that will only make the team work harder. Just my two cents.

That's what i'm thinking... he's got the rest of hs career to win one. Such potential this player has. -
Right now I feel like hitting some balls off at the range, (it's 60 degrees!) so i will leave you guys with this. Lets go Zetterberg!

Agh... I can't bring myself to say "Go Flames" so... Don't Go Sharks!

Didn't we lose the last five games of the 2002 season? To be fair the Wings did get pretty unlucky in the Islanders game. We can't win them all, remember last year in febuary when the Wings won 1 game in 10? It's not exactly easy to bring 100% 82 times a season, even with the millions of dollars. I like to call myself a pretty competitive player, but I find it hard to stay motivated in my 30 game season, (let alone 82) and that's just a highschool league. I can't imagine what the wear and tear is like in the NHL... Holmstrom might know, maybe you should write him a letter. No disrespect my friend.

Cool story. Lidstrom is a strait up 100% class.

I don't know about the other posters, but I was not assuming the Lidstrom cap would still apply. I was just saying we could use some of Lidstroms current salary to help sign Luongo. Right now Lids + Homer = 9.7 million. I don't think they will sign for that much the year after next. Maltby, Lilja, Lebda, and Meech will be up too. So it would be ~12.9 million for Lidstrom, Holmstrom, Maltby, Lilja, Lebda, Meech, and Luongo. It's definitly feasable if Maltby and/or Holmstrom retires... maybe even Lidstrom.
-
I imagine Lidstrom's contract and Holmstrom's contract will have a much smaller cap it in a couple of years. (they might even retire ) If Luongo really wants to come here, he can.

I would like to see the Wings hire him as a defensive/assistant coach.

I think Pasha will get his 100 points. Wouldn't it be cool if he got his 1000th in Sweden?

The Red Wings are a good hockey team. And you know it.

Oh man, I have a story. Game tied 1-1 and I get a break away... my blade comes off some how and I fall down. I looked like an idoit of course, and everyone was laughing at me. I go to get up and I fall down again. It sucked. Luckily the other team did not score because of it.

Anyone else notice Mickey Redmond's random quote last night?

As long as the Wings and the Sharks are both in the top two seeds, they won't have to face eachother until the WCF. You have a point about the Flames though, the first seed does not have to play the Flames in the second round. -
Oh man, I knew when I put 'kitten' in my name this would happen. I almost went two years! lol! I don't even remember why I chose this name, I guess it's because I like kittens, and the Red Wings. No problem with the video, it's one of my favorites too. And thanks for the sweet heart comment.

IMO, 5 Things the Wings need to work on for next game

I agree with everything here. You didn't leave anything out. Now we need to get Babcock to read this. -
Think of it this way... the second seed will probably have to face Calgary and San Jose, where as the first seed only has to face one of Calgary or San Jose. This is barring any major upsets. (which could definitly happen, i'm looking at you San Jose) So I definitly want the Wings to get that first seed. GO BIG OR GO HOME!

That whole series was filled with overtimes, turnovers, flying elbows, and phantom calls on Datsyuk. I think Lilja played solid last year, and much better this year. Lidstrom - Rafalski Kronwall - Stuart Lilja - Ericcson On paper it's the best defense we have had in a while. Lets see it on the ice in the 09 playoffs. Lets Go Red Wings!
