It makes perfect sense. We're trying to make the playoffs. I would rather go into the playoffs with a tired Howard than not go into the playoffs at all. I'm guessing this is Babcocks line of thought - Do I want to start a tired Howie in the playoffs, or do i want to go golfing in April? The days are gone when we could have our cake and eat it too. That being said, I do feel bad for Oz. He's still awesomely awesome in my eyes.

I agree with all that! If we retired Holmstroms number we would have to retire Shannys, Feds, Ozzys and more. I like how the Red Wings only retire the aboslute elite players. No offense.

First of all, don't question Holland please... he's Ken ******* Holland. (no offense to you OP) We're right up against the cap. What salary do we trade, and who's (equal) salary do we add? Unless Holland gets offered a deal he can't refuse, then I say do nothing. I just think it would be really hard for Holland to make a trade that he would "win".

I'm pretty sure Linus Omark did not come up with the chip shot thing, and that Datsyuk did not come up with the Datsyuk thing. Hockey has been played for a long time. I'm sure all these moves have been done many times in the past. (either by accident or intention) I remember when I was roughly ten or so I scored a goal in Linus Omark fasion... but it was a complete accident hehe.

Many of those things would have been overlooked had Canadas big players (nearly the whole team) finished on their scoring chances.

Careful now. It should not be seen as a "fault" - playing a goaltender like Brodeur. Certainly not a place to put blame for the loss. Had Luongo been injured, I assume you would be fine playing Brodeur? ... one might want a goaltender like Brodeur to play for your team in the olympics. So no, it is not Babcocks fault for playing Brodeur, it's Brodeurs fault for letting in some soft goals when a net minder of his caliber should be playing incredibly solid. (at the least) We'll see Luongo in the next game... it's not like Babcock has never switched horses half way. (Nashville 08)

Whoo hoo Raffy! Way to rep us Michiganderrrrs! And it's not Babcocks fault that Canada is losing. Canada out shot the US by 2:1. The Canadiens have more than enough star power to win without any coach at all. The players are choking imo. Brodeur let in a softie or two. It's also not Babs fault for the insane # of injuries the Wings have sustained this year. Lets not knee jerk over one game guys.

I think he's worth 3 million. He's done very well this year despite the injury.

I'd like to see him traded to some team in the East. Then the Wings will beat that team in the finals, and in the off season he will sign with us for 6.7 million. Don't ask me where I got that from... these things just come to me.

I'm going to try and make a list of all the moves Pasha has scored on. Snapper/Wrister Back-hand snap Fore-hand to back-hand roof Back-hand to fore-hand roof Weird "wave my stick above the puck before scoring" move One handed drag (was in game but i'm counting it!) The change up/chip shot thing His signature toe drag/pull move that seems to be Pavels own. -Any of the first four can be 5 hole I believe. Can any other player put up a list like this? I might be forgetting one or two aswell.

This is what i'm thinking. Lidstrom is still quite the player and a cap hit of 3 million sounds quite fair. (for two years)

That has to be demoralizing for the Kings. Just killed the penalty for the intermission... but then they get scored on with .2 remaining! I can see clearly now the rain is gone. (so much damn snow!)
