Grats' on not getting swept by a team who only makes the playoffs by being in a so'called 'weak' division. Winning 1 out of 4 and being out-scored 17 to 8 in a seasonal series aint bad Sharkie! - If only we got points as easy from the Central as we did from San Jose this year.

That would be awsome. While I don't expect espn to have all day coverage like TSN, totally ignoring it does kinda suck. Luckily NHL network aired TSN's coverage.

Hello there from some one who reads daily for inside scoops but never decided to post untill now. On to my topic and something that honestly erks me a bit. Brian Burke, I don't like him very much. Yes he has done a good job manipulating the system this year, speaks his mind, and won 'a' cup. Good for him. The guy never did sh!t untill last year so why does he get so much credit for being such a 'mastermind? Not that hes done a bad job (obviously) since being in Anaheim, I just don't think he deserves to be hailed as much as he is around here, of all places.

THANK YOU! As far as I can gather the general consensus around here is if your the GM of the current Champs your the best! People seem to forget how terrible this man was not too long ago in Vancouver. You can't just say 'He knows how to win, period.' leave it at that and act like you've just made the end all point to any argument to the contrary. The guy has had ONE successful season!! I'm not so easily convinced, give it 10 more years maybe? Because his 10 years prior to last year were HORRIBLE.

Because he finally won a cup? One Cup? His whole carrer has been a failure and one Cup erases everything and makes him the best? Honestly I'm sorry but with this logic then the NHL has a new 'Best GM' every year a different team wins the Stanley Cup.

Although I can't speak for popular opinion from people 'around here', as I'm new to posting on these forums and prior to this I only browsed from time to time for various odd info and whatnot. But I always got the impression of a loud mouth sh!t talkin' hot head who just made himself look silly season after season with failure after failure in Vancouver, but somehow even in the face of all that failure he always had something to say. He was insignificant, no one cared what he thought, no one cared what he said, no one cared about what he did. Now all of a sudden after two seasons and one Cup in Anaheim hes a genius? I don't think so. I think with a lot of manipulation and a lot of luck is why hes at where he is. Honestly, you can call me crazy but without Niedermayer coming back this team is nothing, from the top (Brian Burke) to the bottom (George Parros) they are all just a bunch of hotheaded goons at heart who would self implode without the presence of Niedermayer keeping them composed. And admitidly, they are in fact very hard to beat when they are composed.

I knew it was close around that time and I even looked it up before hand to be sure, and saw 97'. I assumed (I know, ass-u-me) 96 / 97 but I shoulda put two and two together and realized he woulnd't have started mid season of Yzerman's first Cup year. My mistake! But it's besides the point I was trying to make about Burke anyways;p

This is his 3rd year with the Ducks. And the Ducks have been to the WCFinals 3 times total in their history, winning twice and Burke wasen't there for the first. So in his first two seasons hes made it to the WCF twice. In Holland's first two years he won back to back Cups. Of course I know the pieces were in place when he got the job, but likewise for Burke so how much credit does he really deserve?

Don't get me wrong, I didn't say he was horrible and I tried to make that clear in my first post. But he dosen't deserve anywhere near the amount of praise he receives after one (1) successful year.

There were no questions on who the favorite was all season long untill the Redwings recent run of poor play / bad luck. And the Ducks were horrible all season long untill they got Niedermayer back. As far as I'm concerned Niedermayer better not get hurt or there goes their chance. So all that is open for debate and it's kind of irrelevent who the current favorite / flavor of the week is. People are concerned with the end results, hes won one Cup, good for him now why is he hailed as being so great again after one season worth a damn?

Which American broadcasters? heh I dont see that being an issue considering most of the broadcasters covering the NHL in America are in fact, Canadian. If you want to compare it the other way around in something relevant you would have to compare it to something like the Bluejays on espn. We all know they dont give 2 s***s about hockey but in a sport they readily cover, they cover most the teams who play the best. Redwings get s*** on every last call comments by 80% of their fans and their mods wont even allow a well thought out rebuttal from any fan who has a hint of being a fan opposing the Canadian team. And i like to go to their site because fact of the matter is, Canadians do know and cover their sport well. It'd just be nice to have a universal opinion be heard over their once in awhile. Noone said the world should revolve around Detroit.

I've always noticed this as well. Lots of times i'll end it with "let the fans from the states have their opinion heard once in awhile". Has nothing to do with tone either.. Because canadian fans can flame the so called "soft over-rated Dead Things " to hell and back all night long. It really is pretty sad.
