QFT I'll be rooting for the Sens if Detroit goes out to Anaheim(though, this has a lot more to do with my hatred of Pronger)
-
Eh. We need to play like we did in game 3. Game's 1 and 2 we didn't play very well.
-
Bah.. Buffalo just can't keep Ottawa's top line under control. They need a better defensive corps.
-
Seriously... are you sure you're watching the Red Wings? Lidstrom hardly ever gets pushed off the puck. He's not physical because he doesn't need to be. He shuts down practically every forward who tries to beat him. He's by far the best at engineering breakout passes. He practically single handedly shut down Iginla and Thornton in the last two series.

Pretty much agreeing with everyone else that this is a good choice. I am concerned however at how he is going to respond to the playoff pressure. At least Hudler is used to it at this point. It really is a shame that Calder broke his hand.. Imagine if we had him playing like he was when we first got him
-
Completely disagree. He's got that same type of "leadership by example", reserved kind of attitude that both Steve and Nick have. Yes, he needs to work on his English. But even if he gets it down I doubt you'll see him turn into a big talker. Once Lids and Cheli are gone, I can see the captaincy being like this: Zetterberg: C Draper: A Datsyuk: A This is because his English is terrible. He knows it and doesn't want to make himself look an ass with something he says when he means something else completely. The guy is smart.

SO how about that SWEEP now DUCKS!? WINGS 1, ANAHEIM MIGHTY REFS 0 -
We may very well have to if we want a reliable second line. Dats already showed he can play very well without Zetts, now its just a matter of finding linemates for Zetterberg. We'd be much better off with two solid lines than one. Also, both Dats and Zetts are natural centers. Also 1 playoff flop does not equal constant playoff flops. Look at Datsyuk. Should we have gotten rid of him because he hadn't scored since 2002 in the post season?
-
Me too. Can't stand Pronger I'd have a really hard time dealing with it if he ever ended up here.

The lack of outrageous commentary from Mickey is going to be very

The latest issue of The Hockey News had UFA/RFA lists for all the teams... Just at a quick glance some players I saw that could be nice to have here(note: i'm not sure how realistic any of these are, they're just all UFA's; I avoided the extremley unrealistic ones such as Pyatt and Drury) Ladislav Nagy, LW Matthew Barnaby, RW Petyr Sykora, LW Richard Zednik, LW Todd Fedoruk, LW Ruslan Fedotenko, RW Dainius Zubrus, C Nagy would be awesome... He made 3 million this year, so if we dropped Bertuzzi/Lang and kept Calder our forward lines could look something like this.. Nagy-Datsyuk-Filpulla Holmstrom-Zetterberg-Franzen Cleary-Draper-Maltby Calder-Grigorenko-Samuelsson Hudler, Kopecky Franz and Samuelsson could rotate spots depending on who's doing well, as could Flip and Grigorenko depending on how well each plays.

Hoping for a Canada vs. Russia final! OR Finland vs. Sweden
-
Lidstrom. He's quietly shut down the two big scoring threats from the last two series.. He held Thornton to 0 points and Iginla to 4, no small task.
-
that is a very quotable line right there Robert Lang: 4 Minutes till face off.
-
Ahh crap. I was about to go for a half hearted jog and then take a nap as my penance.
-
Here's to hoping this is true I love those lines but I really would like to see Filp get some more playing time next year.
-
hooray for internet catch phrases
-
Yeah, you're not talking up you're team at all, either Thanks for the unbiased opinion there, mate.
-
I think he was referring to after this season.. If Hasek doesn't resign, who is going to be our top goalie? The market for goalies looks pretty dry, and while I think Ozzie can be the No. 1 tender, I'd rather not have him be.
-
Win what? Are you trying to start arguments with this guy? Seriously, do you not realize that this: is completely a unnecessary comment?
-
I'm filpping out over this
-
Hat trick for Chelios. There's no use denying it
-
It's just a goal, and its not a "Turning point" until we know what happens in games 5, 6 and(maybe) 7. I mean, who scored the game winner in game 4 against Edmonton last year in the playoffs? That wasn't a "turning point" in the end. It certainly was a huge goal though as it kept us in the series.
-
Oh god what's next. Will the pens fan throw.. dead penguins on the ice? And the Panthers...

Drop Maltby and next year you will either see Dats/Zetts killing more penalties or having a new guy who is not as experienced killing penalties. Option 1... Well yes, obviously Dats/Zetts are good pkers but i'd rather save as much of their energy as possible for scoring goals Option 2... The new guy will get better over time but will be prone to mistakes in his first year. *shrug* Why not just keep Maltby?
