    Maltby staying in Detroit?

Don't understand all this bashing of Maltby at all. Its 800k a year, a very good deal considering the way this guy kills penalties. He's playing the third line right now and maybe he'll be put on the fourth in a couple of years, but so what? The guy has never been about scoring goals. He is a penalty killer, and a GOOD one at that. Good move Holland

    Rangers Nailbiter... again!

The puck wasn't completley over the line at the moment it dissapeared under Lundqvist's pad. A small portion of it is still skimming the red line. Because the video loses sight of the puck before it has completley crossed the line, the right call to make was inconclusive. The puck crossed the line, but unfortunetly with the piss poor technology used by the NHL to keep track of the puck(low speed camera's at bad angles) the right call was made. Maybe incidents like this will wake the league up and force them to look into some better technology to keep track of the puck.. at least for the playoffs.

    Rangers Nailbiter... again!

My pre season pick for the Stanley Cup winner is looking more and more realistic Though I wouldn't mind if Buffalo went all the way either .... and obviously I'd prefer if the Wings won

    Bone-crushing hits and rough play

I mean you could have at least tried to spell his name right if you're going to do an "inside joke"(why the hell are you posting an "Inside joke" on a forum where thousands of people will be pissed off by it, again?), you could at least spell the name correctly. Hint: LECAVALIER

    Can Robert Lang Come Around?

I've been lurking on the boards for a while now before registering(Since the start of the last season), and I've always had mixed thoughts about Lang until these playoffs. I didn't buy into the Lang bashing that happened last year(though there wasn't nearly as much as there is now, and for good reason), but seeing his performance in the playoffs convinced me that it just isn't going to work for him here. Maybe it will somewhere else, or maybe this is the end of his career. It's funny because I recall reading at the start of training camp this a year an interview with Babcock after the first day where he was asked who the best player on the ice was. His response? Lang. I think the skill is there, its just not coming to the surface in Detroit(kind of the same way I felt about WIlliams this year).

    Wings meet fork

Could have kept the doom and gloom to the Game day thread(Like I did, sorry folks ) This really didn't need a whole separate thread until the game was over. Hasek is a world class goaltender who has done amazing things for this team. He makes mistakes, yes. But he doesn't deserve such criticism.

Actually I think its two goals I think its the fact that this is EXACTLY what happened last game(2 goals behind early) that is freaking people out.

Noise noticably absent at the Joe

Yes, I am serious. All you have to do is compare the celebration that occured at Comerica Park after the Tiger's advanced to the World Series(Huge freaking celebration, champagne in the locker room etc.), to the Wings every time they have advanced to the finals in their cup years. The organization itself treated winning the Western Conference like it was no big deal(which in my opinion is the right thing to do since just advancing to the finals means nothing).

GDT: 4-27 LNC: Lets talk some playoff hockey!

In all fairness, Holmstrom could quite possibly have some bad breath

    stupid fans

I was referring to this statement by the OP: I don't think anyone on this board would actually boo the Wings, I was just making a point. g

    Mandatory Visors?

So you opened a thread for discussion so you could insult people? Congratulations! To add to the discussion, I'd rather not have the Wings organization require mandatory visors for all their players unless the rest of the league followed suit. Think of the flak the Wings would take(beyond what they already take!) if we became the first team to require visors. Also, some players in the league might not want to sign with the Wings if visors were required for the team and they had similar offers in terms of $$ from other teams.

GDT: 4-27 LNC: Lets talk some playoff hockey!

Refs didn't call an offside on the Rangers as they brought it into the zone with only a few seconds left.

Noise noticably absent at the Joe

This. The atmosphere in Michigan in general regarding the Wings is disgusting. It's a "WIN THE CUP OR THE TEAM SUCKS. FIRE THE COACH. FIRE THE GM" mentality. Seriously, I recall watching most of the first round match ups this year and every building but the Joe seemed to be absolutely rocking. Even the Islanders(lost both games at home) , the Thrashers(Lost both games at home), the Penguins(Lost both games at home) all had more enthusiastic fans than we have at the Joe. Heck, the Rangers are now down 2-0 to the Sabres, and I can guarantee you that the Garden will be rocking tomorrow night. Meanwhile, the Tigers make it the World Series and the entire state thinks its the second coming of christ or something. If the wings made it to the finals, do you think there would be any celebration? Nope.

    stupid fans

So I wonder if you're cheering for the Sharks now after that pointless booing that took place at the end of game 1 at the Joe. Pointless booing happens all the time and personally I'd like to see the Sabres finally win a cup(assuming Detroit isn't playing them in the finals) because of the players on the team who have struggled since the late '90s with very good teams and yet still failed to win.

    Nabokov

Homer is not coming back tomorrow. In fact, from what I've heard, he might not make it back before we're out.

    Sports Radio, Wing Talk

I don't spend much time listening to 1270 but the coverage on WDFN of the Wings is very . Seriously, I think that station spends more time covering the Lions in their off season than the Red Wings in the regular season( or post season for that matter). When they do cover the Wings, unless you're listening to their dedicated Hockey program they generally have no clue what they're talking about. (Like Stoney and Wojo saying a caller was "crazy" because he wouldn't trade Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Kronwall for Crosby if he was GM). They do do occasional interviews with players, and Chelios was on every week during the regular season, but they don't really ask him serious hockey questions.
