According to Z (speaking to Aftonbladet) they're supposed to be secret.. I think something like what Finnish Wing posted was a very good guess though. H Sedin on the first line is no wild guess, nor is Backstrom on the second. They're having great seasons and are 2nd and 3rd in league scoring. Z will probably be on the third and Pahlsson will of course be the checking center. Forsberg with Backstrom and either someone young and energetic (Eriksson?) or someone big who can be planted n front of goal (Franzen, Modin) is no wild guess. I think the Sedin's will play with Weinhandl so that leaves Alfie with Z on the third line, possibly with Franzen. A very strong third.. Then some Hornqvist/Modin/Eriksson combination with Pahlsson on the checking line.

Yeah but, Franzen isn't? This is a playoff scenario, where the mule thrives. This is defnitely good news for Sweden imo. Good for the competition too, since I think this team is as good as Canada/Russia also on paper. I agree though that Homer's a warrior. I wouldn't have minded him in there.

To be fair, Backstrom's career PPG is better than Thorntons, and his first three seasons are considerably better than Thorntons. He's got more points than Thornton right now, and he was w/o Ovi for quite some time this season. Right now, I'd say it's a toss-up who's better, but it's certainly not so obviously Thornton as you make it sound.. On topic, I can't see how anyone could pass Gretzky's ridiculously inflated numbers.

The rangers should have never dealt him. He had magic with Jagr, then both he and Jagr were played with the wrong guys (plus it got more expensive for both teams.) Terrible deal. Edit: He'll do well in Finland though I think. Kind of suits his style.

Yes, but in fact I too had that in mind. He could play one round (then take one off then play one, if I remember correctly?), and that's all this tournament is. Either way, when he's on he's electrifying, and I really want him to play against the best. Even, and especially, if it's his last time..

Forsberg has in fact been playing fairly consistently. He was out most recently as a precaution, and more importantly it was nothing pertaining to his foot. Despite his injuries he's been playing at well over a ppg this season. I saw him play the other night against Frölunda, and he looked good. At times, very very good. However, the really important thing here is that Foppa really wants to play for his third Gold Medal, it's only eight or so games (he played six in the last Olympics) and playoff Foppa plays until he dies. As the Olympics is only a few games, I'll gladly take my chances with him. Especially since he doesn't have to center a line. He could be used as a pp specialist for all we know.

Forsberg-Backstrom-Holmstrom Sedin-Sedin-Loui Eriksson Weinhandl-Zetterberg-Alfredsson Hornqvist-Pahlsson-Modin Lidstrom-Kronwall Enstrom-Murray Ohlund-Oduya Tallinder Lundqvist Gustavsson I think something like this is better. Maybe any Sedin line should be number one right now.. Either way, I think this team can compete with any in this competition. The Russian team is overrated imho. If you can hold out against them for a period or so, or score first, they usually fall apart. I also think Lundqvist can be as good as any goaltender in the tournament. He carries the Rangers, ar far as that is possible when Gaborik doesn't show up, and apart for the past game or so has had a ridiculous GAA/% the past 15-20 games considering the team in front of him. He's better now than last time. Before TO, I would have said that the Monster is a fantastic backup, however, at this point depth in goal is my sole worry.

He came straight off injury to the Olympics semifinal, which Sweden won 7-3 against the Czech Rep. He then went on to score the game tying goal in the final against Finland (and Lidstrom of course hammered in the winner). Just a thought.

This is my first post, so Hello! (This red background when you're writing is kind of annoying..) Anyway, I'm surprised no Swedes have replied to this. There are always a few lurking about, for the same reason I am, I suspect. Why am I a fan? Because of all the Swedes you have; and the general quality of them Basically some of my favourite players are Red Wings, including that unlikely hero, Lidström, one of my favourite all time players, and of course Z. That was my initial reason, and I also followed a couple of other teams much for the same reason (you keep stealing our best players!). But the Wings came out as easily the classiest team with simply beautiful hockey and I got stuck. They send a few games every now and then on Canal Plus in Sweden and it's always a treat. I live in England now, and here it is actually easier to follow the NHL than the Swedish Elitserien (where my team is Frölunda, being from Gothenburg), mostly because of NHL radio and the various forums. Btw, does anyone know how to watch games on Sopcast with a mac? I can't figure it out. From Sweden with love.
