We also noticed the same discrepencies. Spouse figured it might be the arena they were coming from. Don't know if that's possible, but it's a thought.

I am thrilled that Datsyuk and Filppula got my memo. Seriously kids, I think they're on their way baaaaack!!!!

Helluva game! GO, WINGS!! Continue to kick butt! :colorbounce:

Haven't read anything here and don't plan to, because mostly it's usually depressing... However, of course I have my two cents to throw in - Rafalski needs to go back to passing school. He absolutely drives me nuts. Speaking of passing, Datsyuk and Zetterberg need to stop with the precious passing attempts that end up right on the Canucks' sticks. Filpulla needs to SHOOT SOONER and not pass so much. I feel very bad for the Oz. I feel very good about how Howard's playing. Kronwall, sometimes Stuart, and often Bertuzzi are having great games. And the Wings ARE playing better and with more aggression and chutzpah. May they keep it up till the end of the game. Peace out.

Very nicely put. So far, this comes closest to how I feel about his article. It's opportunistic, cheapshotting and pretty short-sighted for a sports writer. They can't shut the hell up. They are asked questions and they have to come up with answers. What are they supposed to do (EVEN if it might be true in their eyes)? "Yeah, we pretty much suck and there are some players who are just not cutting it and we'll weed them out, and yeah, we have goalie issues and we're not playing for crap in the third period especially". Really? What would anything close to that kind of commentary do for the morale of the team? You can't call out your team mates in front of the media. What the hell good would that do? And he conveniently does not mention that all this could be going on in the locker room already, where it should be happening, one way or another. He comes off as just another spoiled Wings' fan that thinks they should be pretty much perfect from the get go. I agree with you. They just may not be as good this year as they have been in the past. Anybody remember the coach of the Flyers (Murray? I think...?) calling out his team in our SC finals with them and calling his players' play "desperate"? There was an absolute s***storm over that one single comment. I didn't even think it was that bad a comment, but it indeed affected their team for days, thanks to the opportunistic media.

Boy, for a newbie I sure like your style! But watch out for the brickbats, ok? Anyway, welcome!

Thanks for doing all the research on this, Z&D.

You go right ahead and write them off right now if that makes you feel better. There are about SEVENTY-FIVE more games to be played. They play till April 11th. That's about six months from now. If there were a definition of "fairweather fan" in the dictionary, your picture would be next to it, along with about 20 others just in this thread alone. Whatever floats your boat. But your statement already has a whole lot of holes in it. And if you think they're that bad WHY do you keep coming back here? Wouldn't a whip and some vinegar serve the same purpose?

Sorry. Didn't read beyond where I responded.

Yeupp. At last count, the Wings had 49 shots on goal. There is some good news out there, though. The Penguins lost to the Devils.
-
We won't know reality till it happens. Cup is at least half full. Gotta be. For their sakes', not ours.
-
Agreed, because that's a great mindset for them to be in. And if the Wings play 60 minutes - especially the last five - they can win this game. Ain't no doubt about it.
-
I would add to your very thought-provoking premise that our society today is used to having problems resolved at the least, in 30-60 minutes (minus 10 minutes of commercials), and at the most, a four-show series. History and perspective mean very little to people of this generation. That's why we're in the hideous economic and political situation we're in today. Most of us do not choose to learn from what went before. And whatever it is we want or think we "deserve", we want it yesterday.
-
This is VERY funny. I thank you on behalf of myself for your perspective.

Lucky YOU! My take is that it became pretty much of a pissing contest between a few posters and pretty much lost it's direction. Or comprehension. Or redeeming social value.

Wings_Dynasty - Thanks for putting this on here. It was indeed fun. But it also showed me that I am not following enough teams other than the Wings.

John Buccigross Talks About The Wings In His Mailbag
Vladifan replied to skyphoenix's topic in General
ALL excellent points. The only frustrating part about Bucci's statement is that for years, he's backed the Red Wings. Maybe he's ticked because recently, they haven't lived up to his expectations. -
SIR* ESAD - First off, I'm really impressed with your French, but I have a question. Did you use that linguistic mode to impress us or because it would limit scrutiny of your statement? And yes, that's a rhetorical question. Secondly and lastly - to spend this much time on proving your point(s) shows either or both a great deal of insecurity and obsession on your part; and way too much time on your hands. Either way, I'm pretty sure you think you mean well, but I cannot take you seriously anymore. And your newly self-appointed royal entitlement (*) does not add to your legitimacy. Peace out.

OK fine. But I still think he looks like a schizoid/paranoid deer in the headlights. Hopefully, that won't affect his game.
-
Yeah, especially the year (?) he was a plus-56... Guy's got no heart.
-
Well, by gummoids, we're just gonna have to go see him when they play here in Austin! I hope he has fun. I know he'll be a great mentor to the young'ns there.
-
Either that, or he'd be rilly RILLY pudgy.
-
Thanks for the correction. But in my book, that obviously but subconsciously translated to "lousy".
-
"It's a lousy way to make a living". Ken Daniels pretty much says it for me. He said that, or something very close to it after May's last fight with McLeod. Couldn't agree more.

I think all this has to be taken into consideration to help form a reasonable (HAH!) reaction to what's happening with the Wings right now. They just started to be efficient in passing the puck in the Kings' game. Before that it was as if everyone was out of position at any given time, and no passer or passee really knew what to expect. The Kings' game was when they started looking and playing somewhat like a team. We have new kids and vets out there. All lines have been juggled and we are missing scorers. So I for one have every intention of giving them (including Ozzie) the benefit of the doubt for at least another month of games. Peace out.
