You're right, it doesn't in any sense. Not the way hockey is played and usually called. One of the worst types of "gutless" to me is the after-the-whistle-crap when some total unadulterated cowards in the league take their cheapshots and can be pretty sure they'll get away with it. Hits to the head; takedowns in front of the net; hammerlocks; slashes; crosschecks to the back, neck and ribs; heels of sticks into ribs....it absolutely drives me nuts that the refs just don't go to each bench and tell the coaches/whoever that if there's any bulls*** after the whistle THEY WILL CALL IT. It is just another sickening inconsistency in the game.

Agreed. Maybe he thought that it might get him off the hook for his stupid play that won the last game for us. (Right again, Shore.) Larry Murphy said after that game on the NHL channel that you never, ever pass laterally in that kind of situation and in that locale on the ice. The topper? Campbell was interviewed after that game and said he'd do the same thing over again if he had the chance. One of the other annnouncers on the NHL channel literally came out of his chair on that one. So it could be an attempt at a re-direct on his part to cover his ass TWO ways. To me, he just made himself look even more stupid by the way he descirbed Kronner's hit.

What a nice, simple explanation for why we lost, the heck with the Hawks. YOU try playing with heart and energy after playing 12 minutes on penalty kill and not being able to play all your lines and losing a defenseman at the same time. More to the point, I have no doubt the Hawks would have been nuked under the same circumstances and therein lies one of the major differences between the two teams. Which reminds me...I have a question about the 4-minute penalty to Cleary. Can any Wings' fan here tell me why it was a four-minute call? There was no blood and I don't think any of the other requirements for a call like that. What was the logic behind it, if any?

Oh, really? His head was down? WHY was that? "Blindsided"? Bulls***. And if they go after our 'stars', they'd better get the same kind of calls for the same kind of hits.

The other half of this one is the Wings need to figure this out too. No slacking! No laying off a single play. If and when they move on, the only way they're gonna get any rest is to play their asses off now.

What's interesting to me about the effect of the Chicago fans on that game is that possibly the refs were affected the most by that crowd. I was hoping all that rabid hype would have a negative effect on the Hawks' play, but I think not. The NHL just may become a fourth or fifth-ranked sport if they keep this s*** up. And Shore - I agree on your call on "Detroit Sucks". "They" say they do it just to razz us but why bother if you don't feel inferior to the other team? Why not make up some positive holler for your own team?

There's new news on this. At least it was to me. And that is that the refs do make the final call. I did not know this nor did I read about the ultimate decision. For that I apologize, and I also did this on another thread. But methinks it's still time to move on.

O'HALLORAN DID NOT MAKE THAT CALL ON KRONWALL. ONE OF THE LINESMEN DID. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE FIND THE PIECE WHERE IT EXPLAINS THIS AND PUT IT HERE? THANKS. I'm not thrilled with him either but we really, REALLY need to get this straightened out and MOVE ON.

Everybody, just not you, needs to understand that O'Halloran didn't make that call. Neither ref did. It was a linesman who decided Havlat was injured... Yeah, maybe they should have all talked about it but that NEVER happens. Anyway, we need t6o move on and off of O'Halloran for a change.

If you were talking Ducks and Sharks' fans, I'd have to agree. We've had some great posters come in from those persuasions. But I have yet to see a Hawks' fan here that is even logical or reasonable. Maybe I'm confusing their names here, but right now, neeuuooooo..... :nonono:
