What uber-pisses me off potentially, is that once again the NHL Network might have exclusive coverage outside of Michigan - just like Versus did in last night's game. WHICH MEANS....that as much as I'd love to watch the game on the sports channels that we also pay for, we won't get to see the game on FoxD. Oh how I wish I could go somewhere (i.e., Directv), just type in our zipcode and find out what's going to be blacked out. No such luck. They listed last night's game on both FoxD and Versus. There oughta be a law.....

This is indeed a helluva'n article and I thank you for the perspective. It makes sense. And I think there are few of us here on this board who haven't gone through some bad times that haven't affected us negatively. I hope he gets to a point where he can be at peace with who he is. Maybe he could wait till after this series, though?

Up to this point I had some respect for what he's accomplished. But he's letting his desperation get ahead of his teaching skills, and that may be because he knows he just doesn't have the depth and talent available. But it does smack of a Therrien-type-chickens***-tactic. And that's pretty sad and I hope it comes back to bite him in his pudgy little butt.

LOL backatchya. Naw, I'd be lying if I said I was sitting here smiling. *sigh* Yes. I understood he was talking about the 70's teams. And I tied them into the '97 Flyers because that's all we heard back in the old days of the late 90's. How these Flyers were very much like the 70's Flyers. Doesn't matter if they were or not. That's what we Wings' fans heard over and over and over. That's what I mean by "perspective". I was there. I know what happened, whether the connection being hyped was reality or not. And my question to you is, did you watch the '97 playoffs and if so, were you aware of that constant connection everyone was making between the 70's Flyers and the '97 Flyers? If you were there, you'd understand why I tied that old description to the 97 Flyers. Wasn't my doing. Wasn't any Wings' fans' doing. Didn't matter that they were not that tough. What mattered and why I responded the way I did was because in 1997, that connection was made over and over and we Wings' fans were up to here with it, and ecstatic when they got it back in their faces and up their butts. THAT was the real reality. And all of it happened the way I describe it here, and even now when I hear the term "Broad Street Bullies", I think back with fondness on what actually happened in 1997. And that's my perspective. Peace out.

Yes. I admit it. I am new to hockey. That was my grandma that was watching the '97 Wings/Flyers games. Oh, woe is me for being shown up like that. You don't think anybody, including sports afficianados, touted the term "Broad Street Bullies" during the '97 playoffs? You don't think that phrase was promoted by Philly fans themselves when talking about the upcoming series? You don't think EVERYone East of Detroit thought that the big bad Flyers would beat the crap out of the Wings? You didn't read EVERYwhere where sports "experts" were picking the Flyers to take it all? Oh. Whoops. You probably weren't even born then. Yeupp. The "reality" was that even then - just like fans like you incessantly insist on now - the Wings were a bunch of soft Euros who couldn't take out a peewee hockey player. It was Lidstrom and the Russian Five who had a large part in taking out the Flyers in '97. (Of course, Shanny, et al, had a nice part in all that too.) And from what I read about last night's game, it was Lidstrom and other soft Euros who kept Nash TOTALLY controlled. And I suggest to you that your new look-up word for today is "perspective".

These are just GREAT! Even with just the few times I've been able to be there, I could just bawl if I thought it'd do any good. They're all good, but I love the ones of Oz and the Octo in the limelight, and the Jax player stretching on the ice. Looks like somebody hit him hard and he's down for the count. Heh heh. Your attitude is so sickeningly similar that if I could, I would puke in your general direction. "Still plenty of time to collapse"? And you think you can tell us we shouldn't be wasting a whole thread to praise his game? Where the hell have you been? Do I care? Hell no! Do you realize that there were a whole lot of posters here who were ripping Oz over and over and over - either with sick, twisted humor; pubescent-type sarcasm; or using self-aggrandizing doubt to pump themselves up; spouting coaching-type "this is what they should do" monologues, ad nauseum. A lot of us are still up to here with it and stood up for him through it all, and by God, if we want to support a thread that says he had a great game then GUESS WHAT. And if you think all this is just too too much, guess what you can do, dude?

....Still think you should give it a rest and give Oz a rest and just be a really good guy and go stand in him for practice tomorrow. I'm sure if he knew your true feelings, he'd be thrilled to let you help out.

I think in the third period there was a time he was flying back up the ice to retrieve the puck. Except for Stuart and Rafalski early, everybody had a great game. Even Malts played his ass off especially in the third. And the grind line never let up. Helm will only get better once he gets the upscaled speed going. And the physical intensity! They have to feel good to finally let loose like that and pound everything in sight - especially the puck. They actually looked like they were having fun. And you could almost see the energy and focus drain from them little tykes on the ice. And Ozzie. I am so happy for him and so proud of him. But I do wish he could have slowly removed his glove at the end of the game, raise his index finger and thrust it in the air and say something like, "This is for all you loser-fans out there who never kept the faith". But that's ok. I'll take the win instead.

How true, how true! Now, I'm trying to figure out what player/coach/exec might be saying it. But I don't need to go there. It struck me as funny as hell, and perfect timing.

Ok, the Hawks and Flames are now in the second intermission. But at the time the Flames had just scored. I thought I'd throw it on the board? Just thought I'd report a score from another Western conference playoff game. Next time you don't need to talk amongst yerselves. You could just ask me what I meant?

As I respond to this after the game I gotta say how prophetic your comment is. Because they did not hold up well after they evened up the score. Coulda been because the Wings came on even stronger. But still...!

Calgary just scored - 10:15 into the 1st period.

The level of physicality by our guys is hopefully getting to them. It's now the end of the second and the Wings TOOK IT TO THEM IN THAT PERIOD! GO, WINGS!!!
