OH yeah! Some contests to watch, indeed. And thanks for the input. I'll be checking them all out, except probably for Phx/LA - after MSU plays Connecticut. GO, Spartans!!!! :carrot:

Osgood says he is ready to lead the team in the playoffs

Yeupp, and amen.

I would add there's evidence that our goaltenders get out of position because they don't trust the inconsistent D in front of them and penalties ensue. It's a vicious cycle and it cannot be laid mainly on the goalies. In the last few games, our D especially has looked at least as bad as the goalies. Stuart, Lebda and Chelios; and for that matter, Kopecky, Filppula, Sammy, ad nauseum, have looked really, really bad on too many plays.

Badum CHHHHH. (*rim shot echoes around the halls of LGW*)

I just checked it out and Babcock makes some comments at the end about how they're not playing up to their potential but there's no bombshell reaction at the end. They may have cut that part out which is really a shame. Whatever he said it better light a fire in their bellies or under their butts - whichever comes first.

THANKS! I'm gonna go check it out as we speak.

I totally agree with the second paragraph of your post. Thanks for expressing my views as well. As for your first paragraph, I repeat. I.did.not.know.this.poster.as.a.friend.of.this.board. I was reacting to his post, which consisted of "lol"? And I loved Syntax's reponse to him, and I was telling Syntax that as well as questioning Duck Guy's motives. But it's ok. I do not plan to ever respond to anything he says again. Life's too damn short to get embroiled in this kind of cacapoopoo again.

Seriously? I really haven't read a whole lot of your posts and alas, I've never been very good at reading minds. It's not your name. You could call yourself "I'mhotforHossa" but you'd still primarily be a Ducks' fan, right? Once again, it's your timing. I can't speak for any other Wings' fans on this board who don't know you, but I was already waaay down and you come on here and say "lol". Strange, I know, but when I see that word from an "enemy" fan, my first reaction is you're flaming us. By the way, what did you find funny about that game? If I made a mistake it's because I took your post at face value. And ohboy, I'm gonna have to live with my mistake for the rest of my days, huh. Peace out.

Helluva'n idea.
-
I've seen some of his posts here and I would mostly agree. But his timing on this one sucks. And he should be called on it, usually-nice-guy or not.
-
Yes to the team. Probably true about Datsyuk.
-
OHHHH, THANK YOU. I couldn't have said it better myself. I love these hotshot flaming losers who come swooping down on us whose own teams are circling the drain as we speak.
-
You're the kind of fan I always feel the worst for. You and Michiganders are really hurting right now, and while some of the rest of us mewl and puke, you really deserve some good news in your lives.
-
Has Quincey ever been a goalie? I know. It's not funny. As they're ALL playing right now, we will not win the Cup, let alone get out of the first round. I love them but they just keep doing to themselves.
-
Agreed. But I hate Jackman so any way he gets nailed is fine by me.
-
Tell her I said thanks! High point of the game so far.
-
Yeeehaa! And Jackman stands there and watches it go in. Couldn't happen to a bigger a-hole.
-
Wow...A goalie causing an interference penalty. Go figure...

As for your comments about the what-if game, I thought that's what this was all about. Also I never said nor do I agree that smaller players are better suited. On the surface that just doesn't make sense. I was saying that big guys also get hurt, some for good - so size doesn't always equate to who can take injuries better, nor should it. I still say most of Konstantinov's power came from his timing. That's one of the things that was so very phenomenal about him. And I totally agree with your last statement. No, they don't have a good track record, but the fact is, they don't have any track record. I'm just suggesting that it might be possible for them to compete on most levels and it'd be kind of naive at the least to say it'll never happen.

Here's one fan that'll be whiny-assing - at least, inside. I love to watch Hossa play. Hossa and Datsyuk - they glide, they hit, they deke, they shoot like nobody else out there. For whatever reason Hossa especially reminds me of how the Russian Five used to take over the ice. And he does look really, really good in red. He must realize that...

I'm not so sure I agree. Even though you and others here seem to have it nailed down that there's no way women can ever compete with men in most sports... I'm wondering what would happen if for instance in women's hockey, they did learn to play a more combative style. I'm also wondering if "they" found women the size of say, Datsyuk, Hudler, Konstantinov, Zetterburg - who excelled at puck possession and/or timing on their hits I'd like to think anything's possible. Konstantinov absolutely excelled at that and he wasn't a big guy. and Datsyuk does just fine on most of his hits. Meanwhile, very large male players like Lindros are out of the game. Players like Chara, Lijia, Pronger (i.e., Yzerman's hit on him) were/are damaged, partly because of the timing of hits. If that's what women wanted to do, I say more power to them, so to speak. And if that's their choice I think they should have that option. If guys didn't want to hit them on the ice, that's their problem and it's something they'd have to deal with.

Conklin to start Thursday; Rafalski out again
Vladifan replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
After watching part of that game last night, I have a sinking feeling that the Blues were already looking forward to tonight's game. You're right - they haven't been playing that badly but last night they had like what, seven or so shots for the whole game? I'm hoping they are whipped from that game with the Hawks but I ain't holding my breath on that one.... -

I am personally at the point where I hope Conklin gets to be in goal for at least two or three straight games. I have no problem whatsoever with that choice because our second place position is pretty much established and I don't see us moving up again. Yeah, I know - we don't have that many left for Babcock to have options. But it appears to me that there are a helluva lot more know-it-alls on the Conklin side than there are on the Ozzie vs. the defense/team play side, and I'm thinking that's a way easier stance to take without a whole lot of real-time history to back it up (i.e., Conklin and end-of-the-season/playoff experience). It still won't be enough of an answer no matter what happens, but anything, I mean ANY thing, that will cause a little put up or shut up action on this board would be a godsend. -
Cool. Now I don't have to choose to take any more flack for saying the same thing for weeks now. It's OK. It has been my choice. But there is a group of us out here who have felt the same way for some time now.
