Howard Recalled; Osgood told to "re-focus"

Funny you should bring that up. I have yet to see any of the females on this board get into the hissy-like clawing and screeching tantrums some of the guys have gotten into. Go frickin' figure, huh.

Howard Recalled; Osgood told to "re-focus"

Uh....one other thing I'd like to add here. I obviously missed it both times you said it. I think there was a long period when he was fine as the starter, and starter or no, I think it's a denial thing more than a smug thing. At any rate it's a good thing the Wings' staff has done.

Howard Recalled; Osgood told to "re-focus"

Nicely put. The only part where I might throw in a different opinion is that Ozzie's attitude is "smug". I'm not sure it's that so much as denial about his problems - or it might be that he figures if he thinks positive thoughts it will all be OK in time. Wasn't happening. I'm all for the shake-up and I agree about the kick in the ass with loyalty. Again, the Wings organization is nuthin' but class.

Glad it made ya giggle. It's good to make people smile, methinks. And I can personally go with all of the above.

Howard Recalled; Osgood told to "re-focus"

I only know I don't have to spin jack. I hope for the best for Oz and that this break and hopeful re-focusing works for him AND THE TEAM. Which is where Holland and Babcock HAVE to be. And once again, thank God they're in charge and not you.

You might want to look up the phrase "passive-aggressive". You may even see your picture next to the definition.

2/20 GDT: Anaheim Ducks at Red Wings

There will be nothing pretty about this game. Except the score. First goal for Deetroit happens with Draper's first face-off win. The puck flies into the Duck's bench, skims off Randy Carlyle's head and Getzlaf's blade and flies into the net. Second goal happens when Parros and Perry both think their names were called for a line change and they knock each other out in the collision. Goal comes when Huds skates between them as they fall and while submarining, his bod stops right before the net as the puck goes in. And all that happens before you can say "Jean Sebastien Giguere". I kid you not. One incident that doesn't result in a goal but will be talked about for years to come....the puck gets lodged between Pronger's two front teeth off a Lidstrom shot from the blue line and has to be surgically removed at Henry Ford Hospital. And fans will marvel for years that not even plastic surgery helped his appearance and he ends up looking even more like Alfred E. Newman. And they're never able to prove in court that Chelios's plastic surgeon cousin had ulterior motives when he worked on him. During his third shift on the ice, Rob Niedermayer retires again and skates off the ice but tries to come back for the last five minutes of the third period. It gets really ugly when his own brother Scott and a couple of trainers have to be pulled off of him. All in all, six PP goals are also scored and partly because of Parros's non-detected concussion, he gets 42 penalty minutes. In the last two periods. Filppula scores the final goal when the puck he tries to pass to Conklin deflects off a linesman and two boards and flies into the net. And the next day, Finns everywhere raise their national flag only to half-mast out of sheer pride. Hey. Forewarned is forearmed. Point is, the score ends up 9-0, and the Ducks really never recover. They end up trailing the Kings in the standings. Tsk tsk.....

    Kenny, Get an Enforcer Now!

There seems to be a whole lotta posters here who think Hossa was standing up for Hudler. Am I the only one here that thinks Hossa's fight with Suter had nothing whatsoever to do with coming to Hudler's defense? I do not mean to take anything away from what Hossa did, but I don't think it had anything to do with what was going on with Hudler. Again. Suter ran Hossa and Hossa took him on.

    Hossa Fight! :) Video

Yeeah, I guess you told her/him. I don't believe you have to elaborate jack. I think this poster's whole point was that they would appreciate it if this site was more like that. A discussion forum...where people aren't fighting or putting down other posters over something this Wings team does not do. They hardly ever fight, period. They're a puck possession team and they do pretty well at it. The irony is I'm guessing this poster would agree with you about Hossa. But Suter deliberately ran him and Hossa reacted.

I gotta say I love the look in his eyes. Who the hell am I kidding? I love him! He just has to be one of "us". Besides, he looks great in red.

SOK - I saw the whole thing and replayed it two or three times. I had to record it because I wasn't home for the live feed. I can only tell you what I thought I saw and how I personally reacted. Peace out to you too.

Don't know if it's worth anything but you do have a great and biting sense of humor (and you're obviously very knowledgeable). When you come back - and I hope you do - I hope you go more with that. Methinks you'll find you get more positive responses if you do. Peace out. :beerbuddy:

    Hossa Fight! :) Video

I'm still glad you come to visit, and I cannot guess at Suter's intentions, but he deliberately went out of his way to ram Hossa. First thing I thought of was why Hossa? Which leads me to the conclusion that Suter was out of control or trying to make some stupid, unconnected point. Nice guy or no, his intentions were not honorable or acceptable at that point in time.

And oh boy did you ask for it. And not only just from Opie. I would have ignored you sooner than he did - after about three putdown posts - but if I had the chance, I'd shake his hand for telling you in so many words, "Sideways and rotating, Bubba".... :deal:

Wow and whoa. ALL of that clearly and logically written without name-calling or one putdown. Check the skies....

"Raised on figure skating?" ...."Internal issues"? Why the putdowns? You cannot 'win' that way because those are not valid arguments. They're merely attacks on one's point of view. Meanwhile, could somebody tell me where I might find these stats...How the ratio of a team's penalty minutes compares to their standings in their division/ the league? Or feel free to input them on this thread? Thanks.

Thank you and excellent point. Meanwhile, as long as the Wings have a whole lotta European players on their roster, fighting is not going to be a major part of their game. Period. Instead, we have guys like Holmstrom who takes a beating every night and comes back for more. Even now when he's probably still in pain he wants to get back on the ice for more. We have Kronwall who might just turn into another Konstantinov with his most timely hits. We have big man Franzen who holds his own ANYwhere on the ice and has Datsyuk-like hands when it comes to scoring. We have Hossa, who no doubt never thought to tie down his jersey because he knows he's not a fighter but when Suter tried to ram him, he took him on. Even Mickey talked about one of the Olympic games where the Russians made the Canadians look reeeeally bad because of their speed and agility. Meanwhile, our players do the tough-guy stuff that is necessary to win games. What the hell more do we want? Sure, some fights are necessary, but sometimes they're just macho maneuverings for the thrill of blood-thirsty fans. The only thing fighting does is give you splinters while taking away points. SEE: The Anaheim Ducks. And speaking of them, if our boyz keep up their good work on the PP, them Ducks are definitely gonna be sittin' ones.

I'm reading these like three hours later, so somebody probably already mentioned that one of the linesman got a broken finger earlier in the game and did not ref. I thought they were pretty nice to us though, ya know?

They used to strike me as good ol' boy types, but I really think they've shaped up. I can listen to them a helluva lot easier than I can the Anaheim announcers. There is no bigger homer than their whiny-ass color guy, whoever he is.
