I will never forget the statue of liberty play where Wah the Arrogant thought he was once again, King of the Net. Thank you for the reminder AND the vid.
  2. Well, even if the rest of it is raunchy, this part is classless enough to cover it all. "Buckwheat"? "n***a"? You're the same poster who said that "they" ALL play the race card on another thread, huh. Pretty much says it all and pretty much ties it up. I'd like to feel bad for you but when you choose to show this kind of blatant bigotry, I'm not gonna bother.

have any of you ever written to NHL players?

I posted something on another thread about getting autographs in person from Lidstrom, Schneider and Hull in downtown Chicago. Later, I sent all three of them a photo of me from a tv thing I did (my 15 minutes of fame), asking them to please autograph it and adding that the photo itself could probably bring them a buck eighty in return. (Whoopee...!) I also sent an SASE. Hull is the only one who sent it back, autographed. Since that time, I've never thought of him as anything but a nice guy.

    Emery a victim of Racism?

The thing that's most bothersome about your opinion is that you seem to imply that all minorities automatically resort to playing the racist card. Not only is this stereotyping and prejudicial it also doesn't make a whole lotta sense. First off, Emery is a goalie. And here's a sterotypical statement that makes more sense. None of 'em are playing with a full deck. By trade and by training, they're isolationsists and pretty ego-driven. They would have to be to survive, methinks. Secondly, Emery has already admitted that he blew it in more ways than one. Why do you choose to still be venting via this article? If you want to nail somebody, go after the writer. He's the one trying to make points, albeit very badly.

    2008-09 NHL Schedule Released

LOVE the Center Ice package. But no preseason coverage is a disappointment . Another one is having to listen to announcers such as Anaheim's and Nashville's for away games. :noevil: :puke:

    shanahan?

Ultimately, Shanny should become a legitimate, high-ranking official in the NHL. He might even be the first of his kind to bring some integrity back to what's become an ass-kissing, misdirected, unorganized, self-destructing, impotent, laughable, uncontrolled piece of crap.

    The most annoying NHL teams

There are definitely certain players I can't even stand looking at (Jackman, TooToo, Torres, Shelley, Forsberg, LaPerriere, etc., etc.), but for an all-around pick, I'd say Anaheim. Their players are mostly goons and get away with it. Then there's Neidermayer and Selanne who deigned to come back to play. Then there's Pronger, the Teflon Goon of the NHL. Then there's their announcers who are the WORST, THE worst in the biz. The one with the whiny-assed voice (?!) absolutely drives me nutz. Even more so than Terry Crisp and that's going some.

Behind the Scenes look of Wings Championship DVD

I ordered mine from NHL.com and got it today. I think it's the best one yet. The production qualities - especially the background music and editing really add a whole lot to the whole dvd. It pays to turn it up a little when you watch it. :burnout:

    Zetterberg just left my office

I live in central Texas and we useta have Vince Young, Aaron Ross, Chris Simms, Lance Armstrong, etc., etc., etc....and I never met any of 'em even while they were still here. HOWEVER. We were in Chicago to see the Wings and Hawks play (Before the lockout). Happened upon a mall downtown and twice, ran into Lidstrom, Hull and Schneider. First time, I didn't have any paper or a permanent marker, even though I had my Wings' sweatshirt on. Lidstrom even said, "You don't have anything to write on, huh?" Second time, we espied them again near the scarves, gloves and earmuffs counter in Bloomingdales. I begged the saleslady for ANY kind of paper. I talked to Lidstrom and Schneider for a minute and they were GREAT, and both signed. My nephew stalked Hull and nicely cornered him, and he signed too. I had read recently that he didn't like signing because he figured people just mostly sold them. I told him the kids weren't even getting it in the will. He smiled and signed. They even wrote it up in the Freep as a "My Wings' Story", or whatever they called it then. Other than freezing our asses off looking for a cab ater the game (Wings lost...), and coming down with almost-pneumonia, it was still one of the highlights of my life.

    Zetterberg just left my office

Oh yeah, how stupid can ya get, eh? Taking you at your word, believing what you wrote...! Will we EVER learn, huh?! :nonono: Humor is a whole nother world from "Look at me!, Look at me!" Not to worry, bubba. I won't make the mistake of taking you seriously again, or even feel sorry for you anymore. As Dale Carnegie, who wrote "How to Win Friends and Influence People" must have written somewhere, Have a great day/week/month/year/millenium. And I'm sure copies of that book are still available?

    Zetterberg just left my office

Ohboy. While the rest of us are sitting here imagining what that situation must have been like and just talking to The Man, you're sittin' there with your arms and legs crossed, goin, "NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!" I'd feel for ya, but I'm having way too much fun thinking about what fun that must have been!

Bowman: It'll be difficult to repeat

Two overreactions are on this board. One, that Scotty's "wrong". Like someone said here, he knows juuuust a wee bit more about hockey than most of us do, and if he says it'll be difficult, of course it will! The other overreaction is whoever said this thread should be stopped. Why? The ONE thing that will help the Wings get over the hump of Doing it Again, is Hossa's addition to the team. If nothing else will keep driving them, they will work their butts off AGAIN so that Hossa can raise the Cup, especially if he turns out to be what we all hope he is - a good guy and a team player. Any team, even really good teams, can always use special impetus to keep grinding. And since this team is a GREAT team with all the attributes that go with that, they will work hard. First, they did it for Vladdy. Then it was Robitaille, Chelios, Drake, all the youngn's, etc., and now it will be Hossa. I think their chances are excellent, but next to Holland, Scotty is my other hockey god.

    History Repeats

Honestly, I don't think he was bombed, although of course it's possible. I don't believe he's well. Lately, he just looks like he doesn't have much strength. Can't explain it any more than that, but if I'm right, I hope it's not serious.

Behind the Scenes look of Wings Championship DVD

LOVE John McGinley. He's the main reason I watch the show anymore. They probably had to pay him a buck eighty, mostly because he loves Cheli and the Wings. Yeahhh, riiight. As for finding the DVD in Texas, you're right. It ain't gonna happen. Also, FIRST you pretty much gotta have rain so you can have lightning. I don't know where you are here, but in central Texas we ain't had more than mebee a half inch in three months. Gittin' scary. As for winning the lottery here you might as well stand in beautiful downtown Lubbock or Amarillo, jes' let go of your hard-earned moolah and watch it blow away.

    Filppula Elects Salary Arbitration

The one major thing Filppula needs to work on is Finishing. He seemed to be more focused on that in the playoffs, but he needs to get more consistent at it. The rest of you can work out the Salary Thing.

    Why Pens fans hate Hossa

Yeeeeeahhhh.....I'm guessing you haven't been a Wings' fan for a long time? We're champions, dude. And even if we weren't champions, EVERY really good team WILL take their share of crap from other teams as we have for years. There were the Flyers' fan's in '96. * There's the Avs' fans forever. ("Wings Suck! Wings Suck!" They even wear t-shirts to advertise their stupidity!) There's the Preds' fans. There's the Stars', Blues', Hawks', ad nauseum fans, but even then you must know those idiots represent the minority of their fans. Ok, maybe except for the Avs. I couldn't agree less with most of your response here. No way are Pens' fans the worst. And I would add that I for one got REAL tired of all the whiny-ass posts about Sid the Kid from Wings' fans. We won it all. Move on ahready! One more time. We ALL do it as fans. You ignore the idiots (or at the most roll your eyes), and you move on and keep rootin' for yer team. * Speaking of the Flyers and our past rivalry with them....I will never forget how we were at each other's throats. Then, and I can't remember who - I believe one of their players was injured or killed in an auto accident (?somebody help me here...?!), and Wings' fans - along with fans of other teams posted their condolences by the hundreds. And they came right back to us when Konstantinov and Manatsakanov (sp?) were injured. Also by the hundreds. It works both ways and THAT'S what I'll never forget them for. Their kindness and concern when we were really hurting. THAT also happens, dude, and you need to be aware of that side of this discussion.

    Why Pens fans hate Hossa

One more time, I am proud to be a Wings' fan. This time, because of all the positive, welcoming and polite responses to STK's post. And as most of the responses said (except for this one), we ALL overreact, stereotype and do the Finger-Pointing Thing as fans, just in different degrees. I thought the original post was right on, and I empathize. Been there! Hell, I may be there again, god forbid...

    McCarty offered contract

I HATE Jackman. What a piece of cheapshot, after-the-whistle piece of s***. Oh. Never mind. You weren't really talking just about him. Thanks anyway for letting me vent.

    McCarty offered contract

I've read quite a few of your posts and they all lead me to believe that you don't get out much, do you. I'm thinking you don't read much either and I'm also guessing the kind of tv you watch is mind-numbing, at best. You talk about human beings in your posts as if they're worth all the degradation you can throw their way. You talk about Mac like he's a piece of garbage, ready to be tossed. You show no perspective about what he's meant to the team and fans. You talk about his addiction problems the same way. He can't succeed. No way he can turn his life around. He can't be trusted. He's trash. Toss him. What do you think they have 12-step programs for? What is in you that you must assume he's gonna go back out? That he WILL fail, period? Who made you God, judge and jury? Sure as hell not me. The Wings, Holland, and Ililtch love and trust him. Sideways and rotating, hotshot.

    Hossa's Nickname

I suggested that very same thing, almost word for word yesterday. Great minds and all that. Somebody responded and said that's what they called him in Atlanta. Why not?!

    Hossa honest about motives

Well put and to the point. Thanks for putting it on here. Meanwhile, seems the visiting bigmouths on PTI today questioned Hossa's motives for choosing Detroit. I didn't get a chance to see it, but spouse said it was not positive. Anybody catch it? Bottom line? ESPN knows crap about hockey, but you'd think they'd still be able to figure out WHY he chose Detroit without showing their ignorance or sensationalizing it.

    Blake to San Jose

Remember the last few years he's had problems with his back? I would bet it's because of the way he usually bodychecks. And that is, he backs into the guy against the wall and hits with his butt. That won't change. I'm guessing he will have more back problems sooner rather than later.

    Marian Hossa a Red Wing, 1yr, $7.45m

I haven't read ALL the recent posts on here, so it may have already been suggested. I have another idea for a nickname for Hossa. Since we already have a mule, how's about just "Hoss"? I know it's Western-oriented but I still like it. So there.
