We attended a Texas Stars/Chicago Wolves (now a Vancouver affiliate) game tonight here in central Texas, and two names on their roster caught my eye. Craig MacTavish now coaches them, and Steve Reinprecht plays center for them. He happened to be a player I watched when he was with the Avs and as you may remember, he was with them when they won the Cup. His Wiki write-up says he could be called up to play with Vancouver. Go figure! That's it. Now, back to your regularly scheduled viewing.

It's OK, Karen. I may not participate in the next series if the Wings win this one, but I'm in it up to my elbows. Or earlobes, however good it gets for the Wings! GO, WINGS!!!

We have Directv, and they say the first two games will be on CNBC, which is Ch. 355, the business channel. SO far, there's no change from regular programming on either our TV or on their online schedule. It had better show up soon. I've emailed both CNBC and Directv. We shall see...we shall see...

I like Karen's idea. I'll do the same for this series. I'll include all the names she did, plus I'll throw in $5 per shutout for any Wings goalie. When Helm comes back, I'll include him too. And I will keep my running total on the bottom. THANKS, Vladdy!! Glad you're repeating this!! ...Now I just hope to hell we get the games in Texas!! Wings/Nashville series: Total: 0

I believe we're tied 3-3 for the regular season with them. I don't know/remember how many games Rinne was in net, but whatEVER. We CAN beat them. I remember those last two minutes in OT against the Blues and our guys looked so good. Anything's possible. ANYTHING.

I'm pretty sure the poster can do or say what he pleases? Still an open board, I think.

I lol'd.

And as Eddie speaks, you can just see Bobblehead McGuire doing his thing.
-
Alas, I cannot help you there, Karen. I have approximately fourteen working brain cells left to work with. And I can hear them wheezing as I write. Don't know about that. I hope you're right, but they're picking up speed.
-
Anybody hear anything more specific about when Helm might be coming back? Thanks.

Did you say you think Crawford will get a SHUTOUT???

^THIS.^ I am sick to death of them and their salivating over the Hawks, They ought to be wearing bibs it's so bad.
-
And then Doc and Eddie O. laugh it up about injuries. And there really ought to be a rule saying NO HOME ANNOUNCER WILL BE ALLOWED TO DO A NETWORK GAME WHEN HIS TEAM IS PLAYING. There really ought to be. I've already muted the sound four times in the first period so I didn't have to listen to Eddie and McGuire foam at the mouth over the Hawks.

It'd be fun to start a fund to pay Tortorella's fine. Probably illegal, but oh, if we could...I'm sure fans from all over the league would donate. Also - didn't NHL players vote Crosby the whiniest sob in the league some time ago? What's Bettman gonna do? Fine all of them? What.an.arrogant.idiot.

It ain't just you. There's at least two of us. HOWEVER. I discovered when Somebody tried to pass to him in the offensive zone he definitely had alligator arms. Thought that was only in football. Ah. Well.

Babcock heaps praise on the value of Jonathan Ericsson
Vladifan replied to Frozen-Man's topic in General
He's most certainly an asset to this team and I'm happy that Babs and now some of us are beginning to see his value. I know he didn't play all that well early on, but this year he has improved immensely, and I'm thrilled for him. And the team. Mmmm. That pretty much says it for me too. -
AMEN, Clutch. Thanks for taking the time to make this most valid point!

I'm out of pluses from last night, but this post gets one anyway. + I agree. Not once did their macho maulings affect the Wings' play. Puck possession and smarts is the name o' dat game.

It was a great game for the Wings. Kindl was probably responsible for both goals. Except for a few minutes in the first period when their passing was like something out of an old Mack Sennet comedy, the Wings played a helluva game. Even their power play looked better. Obviously not there yet, but better. As much as the Blues were hitting, I don't think one of them disrupted the Wings, play. I was proud of them for keeping it together in spite of the barrage. The second guy who hit Stuart should be suspended because of the timing, if nothing else. He'd just been slammed by one guy and wasn't about to go anywhere fast. Don't know if there's a rule like that but if there isn't, there ought to be. Datsyuk, Howard, Franzen and Ericsson had especially nice games. Not sure how much energy they'll have for the next one, but I am so damn proud of the way they hung together in this one. They be lookin' like the Wings of old!
-
DID YOU SEE DAT???!! WAS THAT A POWER PLAY OR WHAAAT??! That's the best they've looked in I don't know how long! YEEEHHAHAHAAAAA! They be fired up, kids!!!
-
This is a perfect game/time for them to hone in on their skills. Not only as individuals, but most definitely as a team. They must play this game for themselves. And THEIR sense of pride. Not for us, not the media, not their families. Just for them and their team mates. They have what it takes. This is the time for them to show what they're really made of. And they need to rotate more, get open more, AND shoot more on power plays. Keep the lane blockers guessing, dammit! GO, MY BELOVED WINGS!!!!
-
I usually do that. But I'm not a ***** or afraid to back up my reasons. She wanted to know and I told her, as logically and calmly as I knew how. And you're right about the rest of it. I'm more than done here. Thanks.
