I totally agree about the parity. It's a whole different ballgame now and the Wings (and the rest of us, starting with me) might as well face that. Meanwhile, right around the middle of the second period (7 pm DST), the power went out here in Cedar Park and came back on exactly an hour later. And there was my least favorite FSD announcer telling me the Wings lost 4-1. I guess ours wasn't the only power that went out. I saw a flurry of activity early in the second, and that was it. Otherwise they were chasing and reacting. And when Micky said after the game there were too many passengers, he was right on, from what I saw. It's embarassing, knowing the range of talent some of them have and aren't even bothering. Maybe when Helmer gets back...

Only the fact that we may not get him to come to Deetroit.

First off, welcome back, Mike! Stellar work as always and I hope your studies are moving along nicely. Second-off. If the Wings can't get it going for this game - when it's pretty much at stake whether they mainly win at home or lose on the road - then they're probably not going to make it to the Big Show. But honestly, I think they'll be focused, in gear and rolling for this one. GO, WINGS!!!

I didn't see the game, but something hit me when I read all the comments about Franzen. I totally agree that he's more like a black hole than a valuable team mate. What's more it's dawned on me that his attitude is so bad, he probably wouldn't care if he's benched. Although I'd like nothing better than to see that happen. He.is.useless.

I cannot get this video to play but if your description is correct, I cannot stand slow vibratos. There is absolutely no excuse for hiring someone to sing like that. I've heard versions of the Messiah with "professional" soloists and if I didn't already know the thing by heart, I wouldn't know what the hell note they were trying to sing. Drives me batz.

Thanks SO much for putting this on here. I too saw it live (ah, the wondrous days of Clement and Thorne and ESPN), and it lives in my mind like it was yesterday. I still pull that DVD out on my bad days or during a Wings' bad run. Or if it's a sunny Monday in Texas!

OK I'm late to the party and I didn't give you a neg, but why the putdown labels to people who don't happen to agree with you? Meanwhile, I saw him play here in Texas twice in the last month and he did fine the first time and saved the Griffins butts the second time. So my opinion of him is different but just as valid. And as far as the minus posters go, what would change your mind about coming back again (like you did here) and disagreeing with them again. That wears real thin (no matter who's doing it), gets the thread off it's tack and proves nothing except that two people happen to disagree.

I had this game set to record since I had choir practice. It did not record. Could it be that it knew Eddie O. was going to do the game? I know DVR's are becoming more complex and specialized, but a good taste chip? Who knew!

We saw Conklin play here in Austin about a week ago, and he looked great. Saved the Griffins' butts. Here's hoping he AND the Wings have a great game!!
