So much imagination Franzen showed there. At least he used two hands. Didn't he?
-
Is it because you DO believe, you DO believe that the Wings WILL get a power play? Hey, whatever works if that's it...
-
This game sucks on so many levels. If Green dives one more time, what are the Jersey Boyz gonna come up with other than, "boy, he's really taking a beating"? Methinks they're gonna run out of lies before the night's over. The little wussass oughta have whiplash, kneelash, and buttlash for his chickens*** moves. Meanwhile, even though this game is in Deetroit, we get to listen to Doc and ol' Whoopdeedoo rave about Kovalchuk and friends ad nauseum. I already sent an email to Versus. Good luck on them changing anything, the arrogant idiots. And NO power plays for the Wings. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeahhh......

Smartass! Naw, I KNOW that one. More than one poster here has used those words. Is it that they don't know how to spell (whoa!) and are actually saying something like, "all told..". If that's not it, I reeeely wanna know what it means. Thanks anyways! OK, but if he goes into the fetal position, he sure as hell should have his butt facing out of the crease. More padding, ya know?
-
Even if it is, it's not for us out-of-towners. -staters. HATE Versus. Fixed that for the Finlander. I should talk, eh?!
-
Would someone here please define "tolled", or "tolling"? If it's already defined here, sorry. But THANKS.
-
It would be a lovely thing if Meandering Martin had puck dents all over his bod at the end of the game. Thanks again for your wondrous efforts, HT.

Let me say this about that. When a hockey player is willing to dig in the corners I'm guessing he'd damn well better be ready to at least knock the other guy out of position and take him on if he has to. And since there ARE no corners, he'd better be ready to fight to keep his position and to retain or retrieve the puck. Point is, the Wings don't take as many stupid penalties as other teams because they know when to back off to stay on the ice. You talked about having one guy on a team being willing to hit and/or fight. I call that unrealistic because that one guy is not going to play more than 20 minutes. If you think I'm wrong about being unrealistic, I honestly don't follow other teamns that closely so I'd like you to name me at least two teams who have one really good fighter/enforcer (who doesn't spend a whole lot of time in the penalty box?) who actually helps his team. I mean, to the point where they are competitive in the standings, partly because of what he does.
-
Just because I didn't specifically mention throwing hits and the willingness to scrap doesn't mean I don't think that's a part of "grit". Are you so brilliant and all-seeing that you need to pick and choose what you think I mean? ANY sustained, aggressive and legal action is fine by me. Does that help?
-
This statement is right on. "Grit" is a more sustained and much more valuable thing. It goes along with heart, drive and timing. Ideally, every player plays this way throughout the game. I think that's why even as a puck-possession team, our guys (mostly) do NOT give up the puck even when they're pounded on. And when they do dig in the corners and do whatEVER's necessary to hang on to the puck, they are such fun to watch. Cleary's another example of this. He will not give up; he won't back off even if he's NOT a fighter.

Your subject title alone cracked me up. Thanks for the guffaws!

True. The above theories are logical. However, we are dealing with the chaos theory here, because we're talking about the NHL and its hierarchy. So there's no way even by the end of this week that it will all be sorted out. But even if it were, somebody's gonna end up pissed and/or screwed.
-
Probably under the way the rules are written right now, you're right. I'm suggesting the rules need to be changed. Snow and his GM would have gained nothing, even if Nabby had decided to play. And the NHL needs to remove that piece of coal from up their asses before it turns into a diamond. ...Or maybe not... With a team like the Isles, the only thing they would have gained is a whole lot of negative publicity, because they already suck and they're going nowhere and everyone understands they look like idiots, going for Nabokov. Nabby has every right to choose not to play for a team that could care less about what they really need or his well-being; or what that whole knee-jerk piece of s*** does to the NHL in the future. Fine, if it means he doesn't play this season, so be it. But whether you agree or not, the rules on this kind of idiocy should be revised.
-
And just think! He could wear his ten-foot wide shoulder pads again! Whee! Whooopee!
-
Thanks! If I'd been able to calm down a little, I could have worded it that way. Point is, they really can't use him so their picking him up hurts the whole process and the NHL in general. So it's not just about what's fair. It's about how it affects this kind of negotiation in the future. That's why the whole process sucks and why it needs to be FIXED. I'm suggesting a little perspective would be really REALLY timely.
-
If it's true or even possibly true that the NHL will go after Nabokov for his refusal to play for the Islanders, THEY should be taken to court. Snow and the other Isles' slimers picked up Nabby for WHAT reasons? Were any of them legit when you look at the whole picture? HELL no. No matter how you look at it, their actions are way beyond suspect and should also be investigated. As 80% of you have said here, this whole thing sucks Big Time.

I've heard Siberia has really good ice.
-
As long as we get him in time for the playoffs, hey...!
-
And none of the goals were Jimmy's fault. That's how bad it was. The vets pretty much sucked pucks.
-
As I type after the second period, I hope your skin is still on your body. I know after his second goal, we had to bulldoze the air at our house.
-
Any other punk rockers we can bring up from Grand Rapids?! GREAT hustle by EVERYbody! YEEHAAA!
-
Could Shanahan help with this? I don't know how much clout he might have.
-
OK, does this necessarily mean it's all over? Does this mean there can't be any more conversation/deals/negotiations right now or soon with the Red Wings?
-
I gotta hit the bathroom again! SOMEbody stay alert!

Looks like the Hawks get to play Philadelphia less than 24 hours after they play us. With any luck at all they'll be looking ahead to that one. I know I'd be askeert having to play the team with that many points right now. Why the hell Bettman couldn't have reversed those Hawks' games....Oh, wait...
