This is it. Unlike some pro quarterbacks, he is very aware of his level of ability to help his team. I think if he has another good year, he'll be back. Unless he has some hidden aches and pains he doesn't think he can "fix". We are so lucky to have had him play with Detroit all these years. But you all know that.

I love it when he does that, as long as he's not way out of position. He's pretty fast so a little bit's OK. As for taking Modano out, what's scary is I don't think his game would change even if they did. And please, team! Don't pass so damn much. Just shoot the frickin' puck. Thank you.

Very well said/written. Thanks. An understatement concerning this thread is that the verbal attacks on Ozzie are usually not very logical or consistent. Or for that matter, show much perspective. It is indeed sad and frustrating.

Here's to Ozzie and the Wings bringing their total game, thereby shutting up the Ozzie-Haters for say...10 seconds. Hell, at this point I'd settle for that.

I'm very happy for him and for all those involved. I have a brother who was disabled and it ended up killing him. I have worked with disabled people, both mental and physical. You didn't know any of that but it doesn't really matter. Point is, you made a really negative assumption on the spur of the moment. Did you see my words where I said, "Have fun!" I would suggest if the other four guys had played better too (no breakaways, better forechecking and defense in the first,) they'd all have been better off and probably won the game. We'll probably never agree on this stuff, but that's OK. Meanwhile, I appreciate the fact that you can offer points of discussion without getting nasty or petty.

This will undoubtedly drive some people up their personal walls, but tough s***. I am a firm believer in positive and negative vibes. Call it electrical, magnetic, ether-oriented, mental, physical, whatever. I believe our thoughts, whether positive or negative, have great influence on events in general, and on people specifically. And I believe the more people lean one way or another, the more influence there is on the given subject. I know stating this will have no effect whatsoever on how anyone here thinks about Ozzie and or the team while they're playing. Most of you have decided where you stand, especially with him. But I will be doing my damndest to think nothing but positive thoughts about him and his play whenever he is in net for the Detroit Red Wings. If for no other reason, maybe to balance out the bulls*** that's coming his way in waves. I figure why the hell not? What's to lose?

So does the defense (not Lidstrom) and McCrimmon. And some forwards. Modano and Hudler for two. It's supposed to be a team concept. How much team play did you see out there, especially in the first period? Ozzie did not play well first period. Fact is, none of 'em looked all that hot that period but from what I read on the GDT, they all got better as the game went on.

Why does this team play like s*** when Ozzie's in net? Not one of our guys looks like he knows what the hell he's doing out there right now. Not one. Maybe too many nights off, but this is painful to watch.
