Actually, none whatsoever. In fact I was amazed when Whoever put posts on here about what a ****** he was. We live three hours from Dallas and I pay some attention to whuz up there with the Stars, and I've heard nuthin'. But I wasn't looking for anything either. As for the Ego Thing, I was just talking about pro athletes in general. Specifically, SEE: LeBron/Favre/T.O./Wah/Brodeur/Crosby/Neon Deon(sp?)/Artest/etc. But like I said, I've heard nothing even iffy about him.

Love this description of the three of them. And I still hope it's true about Modano. But I'm one of those nervous nellies who thinks Babcock's statement just might jinx the deal, if Mikey's ego gets in his way too much.

Since the Texas Stars lost in the finals against the Hershey Bears, there's been nuthin'goin' on in these hyar parts. So I was forced into exercising more, and the only way I'll get on our treadmill is watching recordings of Wings' games. So OK, it's not a total loss. But today there was hope. The NHL network showed the 4th playoff game with Columbus from '09. So about half way through I turned to spouse to remind him that Hossa never hardly did s*** with the Wings. So what happens? He scores two goals and we beat them in the final minute on a power play because of a too-many-men penalty against them. Sometimes it pays to be old and forgetful! But not bored. NEVER bored. Are we there yet?

I haven't read anywhere where his wife is actually now a larger part of his decision than before, whatever degree that was. Then again, I haven't read all the posts here so maybe I missed some factual info. But after I read here that he's now being butt-kissed by other teams and still listening to offers, it could be just his ego being massaged. Was it not like a week ago that he said if he played again, Detroit would be where he'd go (come to)? I'm kinda at a place where if he comes here, great. But after the LaBron James' and Favre' fiascos - my brain and heart just don't give a s*** at le moment and my plan is to purposefully ignore it till he makes a decision. Peace out to the posters on this thread and I hope you're all having a good summer/winter wherever you are!

Only thing I'd change in this statement is I hope he's given more playing time this season. Can't earn anything till he gets a chance to prove himself. Again.
-
This is where it's at. Will he be willing to play on the third line? Or the fourth? Like I said before I don't know what lines he played on in Dallas, but did somebody say the fourth? Whatever. I hope he signs. I do think it'll give our guys incentive to play harder. OK, I want to think so.

I just read about his passing on this board. I cannot believe it. In spite of his lifestyle he was way too young for this. One thing most of you will have over me is that you will have all those memories of him on the ice. I didn't get to watch him that much, and oh how I wish I had shown up in time. This is the bottom line for all of you out there. No one can ever take those wild, crazy and precious memories of him away from you. My condolences to his family. The pain for them has to be almost unbearable right now.

Heeeeeee-yaaaaaa! (small, but oh so wiry.)
-
Well now, you never heard me say that. OK, I always thought his eyes were just a wee bit too close together, but other than that I certainly think and hope he means well. And if he does get too outta line I can always come down there with my purse full of pucks and take him on. NO problem.
-
Probably none. But honestly, I don't know their strengths and weaknesses as well as I think I do the Wings.
-
As has been reported here he has been quoted as saying he's interested in most of the western teams. I'm wondering if he might be hesitating with the Wings because of the distinct possibility he won't be used on the first or second lines. I honestly don't remember where he ended up playing in Dallas. Hopefully though, his ego won't get in his way too much. As for his potential douchnescity, I'm thinking the locker room boyz might help keep that to a minimum. At least while he's hanging with them.
-
Thanks! Now I can mute the sound on the NHL network and listen to these guys.
-
This is sickeningly true.
-
Oh boy! Oh boy! Bettman's coming on the NHL network! :puke:
-
So I turn on Ch. 215 on Directv, hoping to at least see something happening on the bottom of the screen on the NHL network. Instead, there's a 70's-type Don Cherry, yaking away. Even if you stuck a pin in him then, he'd probably pffft and ppfffart away like some colorful, mishapen balloon. Ah well. Maybe later they'll have some real news?
-
I read in our local paper today that he now thinks he'd like to play another year.
-
He's probably gone. But Lilja played well enough that I will always wonder how well he would have played if he hadn't had to cover for Ericsson way too much of the time. Especially early in their pairing.
-
Lilja more than did his job, and that included trying to keep Ericsson from getting out of control. I really appreciate what Malts has done but if this really does mean Lilja's gone, that's just not thinking ahead. Bottom line, like others have intimated here, we don't have anybody of value to replace him with.

Good to see you haven't lost your sense of humor during all this hoohaa.
-
Seems like I was reading that same stuff about Dallas Drake on here and he played his ass off for the Wings and helped us win a Cup. Why? Partly because he added great chemistry. I think Modano would do the same.
-
Yessir. This crap about "good news" (no reflection on you, Syntax) is total BS. Speaking of bulls***, let the haters just keep treading in their self-made cesspools.
-
I'm not ready to give up on him. He's an agitator that consistently breaks up the rhythm of the Bad Guys he plays against. I'd like to think there's still room for him.

Hey, it's all relative. I'm thrilled to be where I am (faking my way through as I went), and that's right next to another great mind. I.E., you! Your daughter is beeautiful and she comes first. But meanwhile, thanks for your wondrous efforts on this board. -
Thanks to you, Matt for all your hard work. Hope you're feeling totally chipper again.

Remaining potential buyers for Stars are from Calgary and Vancouver
Vladifan replied to CenterIce's topic in General
Us sports peeps in central Texas will be very interested in how this all comes out. Hicks just built a sports arena here for the Austin Stars, their AHL team...and they are now in the Calder Cup finals with Hershey. Their first year in the bidness and they're doing great! We can only hope that if Canadians buy him out, they'll realize the value of this franchise and not do nuthin' stoopid.
