YESSSSSIRRRRWREEE, BOBAROONY!!! I am SO damn proud of them Wings!! Funny thing, though. When the Wings scored their first two goals, you heard all sorts of Hawks' fans yelling' "Deetroit sucks!", as untimely as that may seem. But there was NUTHIN' but silence when Stewie scored the winning goal. GO, WINGS!!!! And oh yeah. UP YOURS, CHICAGO!! Sideways! Rotating! However it hurts the most!

If you're talking about the Shelley I think you are, something's gotta go well for him. He's one of the ugliest dudes around.

And NO call. Myohmy. Check the skies.

Thanks, HT to you and Crotty for the info and input. I'm still not thrilled with playing the Yotes but I'm not sure Vancouver would be that much easier for us. But I really do BELIEVE that the Wings are on a roll and they like the Winning Thing. We shall see, eh?

Let's see...we leave town for a week, come back and the Wings have 100 points and are in 5th place. We couldn't watch any of the games, but from what I read here last night about the Philly game, their goons took advantage of the fact that our guys had to be playing tired from the day before. If I'm reading the standings correctly, they mean that we'll probably be playing the Coyotes in the first round. Not thrilled about that so if I'm wrong, somebody please correct me! Other than that, it's gonna be a great game and I'm thinking we'll beat them. They're under the pressure in this one, not us. GO, WINGS!!! And congrats!!!!

I tuned in once to that game. Sound was down, and there was Jackman, beating the crap out of someone near somebody's net. Didn't have to have the sound up to know that of course the whistle had blown already. And hallelujah and whatever, he got two minutes for it. Somebody really needs to beat the crap out of him. Really.

If I could be promised that Wah would separate his shoulder on another statue of liberty play, I might be all for it. At least for one period. I understand it's not part of our pre-game summary, but it should also be mentioned that Chrissie Pronger and little Jarry Boll are now up for the Lady Byng. I know, I know. Who knew?

Amen, and every time He Who Should Not Be Named is mentioned, it brings out the attention-grabbing trolls who feed on those posts like a bunch of egomaniacal hyenas. Not worth it.

Thanks for this, Mindfly. Good stuff and really, really upbeat! And like you said, especially from TSN.

Ain't it great to see the other team doing most of the chasing? Right now, the Wings look wired and focused. And they're actually getting shooters in the slot! Check the skies!!

Well said. Whether I agree or not (and I don't have enough facts or history on which to base an opinion), the posts are fun to read and well-written. I also agree with whoever said they hope we meet up with them in the playoffs/finals. If they do not play much of a defensive style then methinks "we" can teach 'em a thing or two. As for the Crosby crap, PLEASE STOP. Start a new thread if you must. Thenk yew.

OK, so do any of us see any problem with him getting those five goals tonight? I think not. I mean, why delay the inevitable? Have fun, Pat!

What.a.game! I was bored silly or bellowing for 60-plus minutes, and then all wondrous hell breaks loose. BLESS their tired aching buns, they pulled it off and never really gave up. And the game-winners for us? A forward we (me too) often mock; and a defenseman who has always been known for his timely hits, not his soft hands. I am SO damn proud of them. I want to think that their plane ride back to Deetroit was one of the best they've had in some time.

Mmmmmm!...I love chocolate with coconut.

Oh, swell. Oh, dandy... ...aaack...urp...eeek!....

Did you say SHUT OUT for Pikka? Just checking. I had the game volume up a little loud and I'm a wee bit deaf at the moment.

Couldn't decide after watching the first period if the ice had melted or if they were all just playing very, very carefully. But the Wings did pick it up toward the last third of the first. Sure hope to hell the penalty calls start evening out.

Agreed! I hope your girlfriend had a good time at her first game. It was indeed a great win for them so by gawd, she should be impressed! Butofcourse! Nicely done and thanks for your efforts on their behalves! Ya did good!

I'm thinking that the whole Red Wings' team would agree with you about being giddy since Lilja returned. They actually looked like they were having some fun tonight.
-
Funny you should mention that, because I did think of it yesterday. I still salivate when I think of that brouhaha, along with Roy's statue of liberty play. And then there's the 7-0 score in the same playoff series. Even if the Wings don't get far in this year's playoff battle, I can always look back on those wondrous and warm moments in Red Wings' history. Hey, DirtyD! Welcome to the fray. Only thing I would suggest is that if you're lippy or opinionated at all (and yes, it takes one to know one) I hope you're good at ducking, dodging, and weaving. Other than that, glad to have you aboard!

We got back late last night from Deetroit and I want it known that we did our part in bringing big wins to the boyz in red. As for mental notes from the Blues' game...It seemed to all happen in double-time. The game flew by. Cleary looked feisty in his comeback. The second Blues' goal was not a good one, but you all probably know that by now. Jackman was his old a-hole, cheap-shotting self and was wahing to the ref when he was in the penalty box. What a loser! Again, I didn't notice anybody screwing up majorly, although the first period was pretty iffy on the Wings' part. As we were leaving, saw Murph up in his little broadcast niche. Yelled, "Hey, Larry!" He looked down, smiled and acknowledged me. So I flashed the #16 on my jersey and he nodded again and did a thumbs-up. Don't know why I thought he'd understand I was signifying the importance of DEEfence, but he seemed to. Then again, maybe he was just being polite. Oh yeah. Don't know if anyone mentioned it but there WAS an octopus thrown on the ice during the Penguins' game. And there was Big Al waving it from the door! And I swear I saw him give a finger to no one else but Bettman.
-
Oh for sure they do. But the real cowards/cheap-shots/out-of-control/arrogant/"entitled ones" always, ALWAYS save their best for the last minute of play. When they are pretty much assured they won't suffer the consequences of their totally out-of-control tantrums. His actions at the end of the game literally turned my stomach. And you should have been there to hear the thousands of Detroit fans who booed him off the ice. It was music to my ears.

This was exactly what I thought when I saw Bert in the replay. WHY the hell didn't he at least pound him once? At least he got his smelly glove in his face. Thing is, Sidney waited till he KNEW nothing would/could come from his cheap-shotting Zetterberg. In my book, and I don't care how young and talented he is, that makes him a chickens***, arrogant, whiny-ass a-hole, and not worth my respect. I also wonder what all the "fans" thought of that crap that were trying to climb the glass to get at him during warmups. That was most definitely a losing moment for him.

It was a great game in every sense of the word. All lines did their job, and nobody, I mean NObody stood out with majorly bad plays. When iffy passes did happen, somebody was there to cover. The Wings took it to them pretty much all night long, and it was GREAT to watch! Ericcson and Meech did their jobs, and Bert played one of his better games. He really seemed to choose to be more involved. The decibel level of the "Crosby sucks!" chants had to sound deafening to him. And he was booed every time he touched the puck. Both teams were pretty even in stats but I don't think Crosby got many shots on goal. Lidstrom and Rafalski controlled him pretty much all night. And I just heard he was a -2. Which made his temper tantrum at the end of the game almost predictable. It happened at the other end of the ice and we couldn't see what actually happened, so thanks to those of you who put it on here! I was so very proud of them. They really never let up all game long. They played with heart and intensity. They played just like the Red Wings can. They're in it, kids - right up to their elbows and they seem to be enjoying it.
