Nice description. About five times during the game tonight I kept thinking that I wanted to run into the office and check out the board. WhatEVER form it's in right now is fine by moi.

Wow. Just feelin' my way around here. First off, Matt - you must have had two or three hairy days there. Plus you took your daughter to the Canucks' game and that was a disaster. Thank god she's as young as she is! THEN, some a-hole decides to open a can of whupass on your site. THANK YOU for all the sweat, blood and tears you've put in the last few days. It sure is different but if this is gonna be it, I can live with Whatever. Can't believe I missed commentary from so many twits on here.

I checked Directv's schedule for the game (which I cannot watch live... ...) and it looks like they've added an HD channel for 664. OH, I hope, I hope, I HOPE!!!
-
This is beyond cool. I'd love to hear how she reacts to it.

Thanks for the corrections. Although I understand that NBC is a network/broadcast channel, I did not know that they are required to be available. Makes sense, though. What a (governmental) concept!

Damn. You're right. I think somebody smarter than me already brought it up but for starters, force him to watch an endless loop of Ovechkin highlights. And we could add the following (taken from our local paper this morning): "Pittsburgh 3, Buffalo 2 - Ruslan Fedotenko had a goal and an assist and Sidney Crosby - in his first game since winning the Olympics for Canada - set up Sergei Gonchar's 200th career goal to lead the Penguins past the Sabres. For perhaps the first time in his career, Crosby drew fewer cheers than an opposing player in his own arena. The ovation given Sabres goalie Ryan Miller, the USA goalie named Olympics MVP who did not play Tuesday, was noticeably louder and longer." Always start with the Ego Thing, Then if necessary, move on from there.

Wow. Hadn't thought of that one. I have thought of him being torn limb from limb from four tractors pulling different directions.
-
Hot damn! Good for him!

This is a great post. The only thing I would add is that he had to be playing with a lot of pain. But he DID.

In my mind, it will. No hockey team has ever had the "group" dynamics the Red Wings have had. The Grind Line, and the Russian Five. No one, not anywhere - can ever match what we got to enjoy as Wings' fans.

Exactly. This is what I'm talking about. And if we give a s***, rather than having a knee-jerk reaction one way or the other (and I personally don't care which way anyone goes, with Crosby or anybody else), we need to understand how we are being used and abused. Over and over and over again. Then we can make better decisions and wiser personal choices.

This is a good and interesting thread. Most of us have pretty strong feelings about Crosby, but thought-provoking points are being made on both sides without personal attacks being a priority. I've thought of something else about him that's kind of hard to admit. The kid is what, 22 years old now? If I had had that much attention, adulation, ass-kissing, higher-ups worshiping me, how would I behave at that age? I can only guess but I really don't want to. Furthermore, the fact that Lemieux has him under his wing is probably part of why Crosby isn't totally obnoxious as hell. Thing is that's how the media works. They build an athlete/celebrity up till you either hate them or adore them. Extenuating circumstances don't enter in as much as they should, such as how young Crosby is - and with ALL that talent. There's another example right from the Olympics. Lindsey (sp?) Vonn, the skier, was hyped as the second coming of women's downhill skiers. She's also pretty, which doesn't hurt. THEN about a week ago while the Olympics were still going on, there's this huge column about maybe Vonn isn't so hot as "she" thinks she is, and Mancuso may be the next golden girl of the slopes. So on one hand, the media builds up Vonn to the Extreme, and then decides they need more news and conflict so they tear her down and suggest a rivalry that may have never been as dramatic as they suggested it was. OK, this is too long and very philosophical. But I firmly believe that the media and marketing in general is one of the biggest crimes happening in society today. And Crosby is just one sport-related example of that. *stepping off platform*

I was just grateful I could get a stream of the game. I have nothing against their announcers and I thought Mac did a helluva nice job. He added some warmth and character to the guys behind the desk. However. Versus is owned by Comcast, who also bought NBC. Don't know how the FCC/FTC/Whoever let that happen because it will be just a matter of time before Comcast goes to all cable/satellite companies and demands exorbitant fees just to carry NBC, let alone Versus (which as most of you know, has already happened with Directv). Some of you may not like NBC for sports, but that's not the point here. Right now, Comcast is being allowed to screw over American viewers and it's just going to get worse. NOT a good thing.

I'll bet you also didn't see him push Anderson's net off while he was on the bench?
-
I'm very, very happy for our boyz. They worked their asses off and they pulled the win out of same. GO, WINGS!!!
-
Yeah but not stupidity. Alas.
-
Now that's what I'm talkin' about. :flash:
-
And this is not trolling? And if not, why not?
-
So, what else is new?
-
And that wasn't a dive by Anderson because it's always Homer. Anderson could have done a back flip and sustained whiplash doing it and it still would have been Homer.
-
Agreed on all counts. And I still think we're going to win this one. Unless the refs really do begin to think they're God.

Sorry Loo, I don't know how you'd deal with IE. There's gotta be a help/tools/security thing though where you should be able to change the setting on blocking sites. Good luck!

I HOPE HE BROKE HIS ASS IN FIVE PLACES ON THAT FLAILING PIECE-OF-s***-DIVE.

THIS is what I was trying to say.

Wow. Howard's human.
