All the women played with heart and grit and I'm really proud to be a sister to all of them. And to those of them whose kids were watching, NONE of 'em were losers.
-
Sure hope that comment did something for you. Because from here it just diminishes you that you found it necessary to come up with thatcutesy macho putdown. Are you even capable of doing 1/8 of what they're doing out there on the ice? I thought not.

This is one helluva'n exciting game to watch. Not just because it's the top women's teams but it's also one of the best games I've seen during the Olympics from both sides - except of course for the men's USA/Canada hoohaa.
-
Yeah, he's the one who said he wouldn't be watching. So why's he reading?
-
THIS!
-
It's already a helluva game. The speed is like light years different from the other women's games played. What's scary is that USA is the better team but already Canada is on their second PP, and the calls were not good. Refs already missed two possible ones on Canada. They just called one on Canada. Check the skies. So far the USA women look really good. Feisty when they have to be; focused when they have to be, with good passing.

I/we'll post updates only if you de-code Whatever'Gigoogitying' is. Sure sounds like fun all the way around! jk/Pretty much figured out what you're alluding to.
-
Some guy/writer from SI just said he thought it would be close, but he likes the USA goalie better. We shall see!....
-
Got that right. It sure as hell aint' me. If I mistakenly inferred that it was you who said it wasn't a sport, I apologize.
-
Mmmmm. The only real man I know is my husband and he's all for women's hockey.
-
Could be. Could also be where Phaneuf's 15-year-old brother tried to take out Wickenheiser and she took him down. From what I remember from the video it looked like he was as tall and at least as big as her. Bottom line is, you're not going to change my mind with your putdowns of women athletes and their work ethic. I am SO proud to be able to watch them play. Whatever you think about their training, their chance to check, whatever! They.have.earned.the.right.to.be.out.there.

Mike Milbury uses 'Eurotrash game' to describe Russian hockey

OK, so you want to meet up with her on a street then? Or maybe on a track somewhere? To say that women's hockey at this level is not a sport is beyond arrogance. Whether they get to hit or not they have trained hard and have endured much to be where they are. So sniff away, dude. I still think any one of them could probably take you out in a Toronto minute.
-
Could be the best idea you've had today. Just sayin'...
-
YES. I do. They've worked their asses off to get where they are and they have every right to compete on the highest levels of women's hockey. So it's not the same level as men's hockey right now. About 20 years ago, men's pro hockey was pretty much either KHL-type or college kids - and nowhere near the semi-equal state it's at now.
-
Well then in that case, I'd love to see you take on somebody like Hayley Wickenheiser on the ice. Or on a street somewhere for that matter. I'd really be curious to see who's in better shape in that meeting.
-
Ya think? I think even you would have enjoyed the quasi-knockdown-fight in the game that's going on right now between the Swedes and Finns. Four minute penalties to both the Finn goalie and the goonette who tried to take her out. Then again, do I care if you would have enjoyed it? I think not.

Sic 'em, Serapth! I say 4-3 USA in OT. Looks good on this red background, anyway...

Or, if it comes to that (and I hope it does again since it already has), they go with "Canuck Crap"; or "Caca"? -
Actually, I was just trying to be inclusive and altruistic. I have nothing against them (much), but I'm pretty sure others do so I didn't want to hurt their feelings or make them feel left out, ya know? And damn, I forgot Dany. I KNOW others dislike him. Thanks for the input. EDIT: I lied and I answered too quickly. I can't stand Iginla. He was pounding the crap out of Schneider, one of our defenseman a few years ago, and it was never called; and he acted absolutely like it was god's will that he did that. So I have not forgiven him. Niedermayer is a cheapshot artist. Witness the most recent game with our guys when the literal loser tried to take out one of our guys after the whistle. He definitely is not a good loser. Other than that, I'm sure they're all fine, upstanding human beings. :scared:

Promise??!!

In that case, I'm gonna need a little more detailed history and explanation from you. You know how test-givers are. They pick and choose their favorite topics and ignore others. And if there will be a choice on essay topics I can tell you right now I will write about six paragraphs on WHY WE DON'T HATE CANADA. If you were even willing to do a show of hands, you'd find your "class" is totally and completely made up of students who hate specific players* on Canada's hockey team. Our hate and disrespect has absolutely nothing to do with Canada, the country. Meanwhile I sure hope you don't have tenure yet. *Crosby, Pronger, Perry, Brodeur, Niedermayer, Iginla, Nash, Thornton, Getzlaf, etc. (see bibliography on all players below)

That's the other part of the problem of getting into their zone. I liked Olcyzk's (sp?) idea of the guys at the blue line moving - not standing still - keep the puck moving into the bad guys' zone.
-
I can tell you at the end of the second period it's like the USA team is playing the old Minnesota Wild. Their blue line defense is very good. Our guys are gonna have to keep their patience and I think speed up the action. I can't believe that goal didn't count.

QUOTE (fixxxer @ February 24, 2010 - 04:15AM) * IMO I think Russia has a better chance with Bryzgalov in net than Nabokov. I think Nabokov cracks too much under pressure and isn't a goalie you want in a game like this. Unless I skimmed the posts too quick I'm suprized starting goalies have been brought up. I think to if Ovi brings his A game there's no stopping him and Russia played like USA constantly hounding the puck carriers lots of forechecking they'll have a good chance advancing. It should be an entertaining game regardless. Let me try again here...! This is huge. Because our no-name guys did it to Canada already and surely, Shirley - the Russian hotshots can do at least as well as our guys did in hounding the Canadian's puck carriers.
