Yeah, it is/was. They looked confident, aggressive, and creative with the puck. More traffic in front of the Bad Guys' net, and what, two deflection-type goals? Those have got to be some of my favorites.

Gotta say that's the first time I've laughed out loud during a Wings' game in about a month. Felt great!
-
I want to think we're just playing that well against Ottawa. Because the other alternative is that the East just ain't that strong overall... Don't mattah! Wings are playing great!

At the end of two, you're lookin' pretty good there.

I'm sure he was cheap-shotted sometimes. As he did other players (Chelios comes to mind). But even with the iffy viewing angle from this video, Forsberg didn't go down the way most peeps would go down after being pummeled in the gut. Of course you won't agree with that but that's my take after watching the video. I watched him play from about '95 on. I had no opinion of him to start with, but my reaction after watching him game after game was that he was indeed an excellent hockey player but every time he dove - which he did often - he took away from what he should have been remembered for. And that is, his stellar play on the ice.

This is how I've always thought of him. Why oh WHY did he feel the need to dive so many times? He was really a very good player. On the other hand, after watching him walk in the arena carrying the flag, I immediately remembered why I always called him "ferret face".

What's with this outbreak of birthdays around here? PLEASE. Have a happy one, both of ya's, which should OF COURSE, include a win by our beloved Wings. :beerbuddy:

This to me is the frustrating part of all this. Not only do I love him to pieces, but he's been playing very well lately. He's been especially helpful on the PK. Bah. Humbug. Whatever...

Ex Redwing Martin Lapointe now a Chicago Blackhawks
Vladifan replied to 19Wingsfan4ever's topic in General
Yes, indeedy - he was/is. Isn't Bowman still there? I thought he and Marty never hit it off. Must be Scotty didn't have all that much input. -
Nabokov stole the game last night - focus on the positives
Vladifan replied to stevkrause's topic in General
Agreed. I also thought it was one of the best games the Wings have played. One of the highlights for me was all the traffic they produced in front of Nabokov. And he's not exactly an iffy goalie. What is he now, 10-0 away from home? -
Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints beat the best team on the planet tonight, and I am so damn proud of them! Drew is a great guy. Went to high school in Austin, and even with his injuries and his size, the Saints had faith in him. Most of all, Nawlins and Drew belong together. What a great game!! Mardi Gras may go all year! :hippie:

Now THESE are da boyz we all know and love. GO, WINGS! GO, WHOEVER'S IN GOAL!!

I like May, and he earns his money but I can't see putting him in over Maltby in almost any situation. Malts more than proved his worth last night on the PK. No, he's not a fighter but he skates better than May; and even when he's not on the PK, he harrasses and throws off the rhythm of opponents. He really defines "role player".

I cannot put into words how jealous I am of your hangover/whatever. My spouse woulda gone nutsoid in the crowds, but I would have LOVED it! I hope you had a blast!

Actually, compared to some of the other threads on here, this one ain't bad. At least it's a positive one. Shows a little perspective, methinks.
-
Yeah! What YOU said! OH boy! Me too! Actually, mine would be Lidstrom or Yzerman for all time. Mac when he was with them.
-
Such idiotic statements only show how desperate he is for coverage. He's willing to make a fool of himself (again) just to get reaction. Any reaction. Can't remember the last time I didn't think he was a tool/fool.

I'm not just laying this on you because I've seen a whole lot of posts about this, but this thing about Murph being drunk is wearing a little thin, methinks. I can speak from my own (thank god) past experience and nine out of ten times I have not thought he was even tipsy. I think Murph's thing is that often his mouth goes faster than his mind does. And if you have ever tried doing what he does in front of a live mike you would understand how difficult it is. He's a jock first. Now he's learning the announcing thing and I think he's doing great. I will give the man nothing but the benefit of the doubt. Love the game so far. Wings are looking more aggressive, especially around their own net but also on the forechecking.

We Can Do This!! ...OK, the Wings can do this. Actually, I will do my usual yelling, cursing, praying at my hockey god altar, eating tortilla chips and salsa, jumping up and down and generally driving everyone else out of the room Thing. Hey, it's the very least I can do for my team.

Anybody got more info on Tollefson? Or where I can go to find it? Thanks!

Thoughts on the Four Minute High Sticking Penalties
Vladifan replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
Helluva'n idea! You could carry that even further, and slice somebody who slams you against the boards more than once during a game? ...mmm...mebee not. -
Thoughts on the Four Minute High Sticking Penalties
Vladifan replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
Hadn't really thought about it much, but now that I have, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. About the only thing I'd like to see happen is that OUR boyz take lessons from real sleight-of-hand-specialist. One that can teach 'em how to whip off a glove and claw their face real fast. Of course, they'd have to keep their nails pretty sharp, so people might stare when they're off the ice. Still think it might be worth it. -
Oh yeah. Opponents like to pummel him, like it makes them look good hitting a player usually smaller than them, but he still seems to have it, and it would most definitely, even if it's only partially bring back some great memories. ...sniff...

This is indeed good stuff! It's so nice to know that there are those out there who really know what the hell they're doing with the CGI/special effects stuff. Thanks for putting this on here.

However you look at this statement, it's not true and it's not fair to those fans who ultimately stick with their team through any and all victories/defeats/humiliations/Cup Finals. We all have different reactions to how "our" guys play and that's got to be allowed . And I say that, in spite of my own "lecturing" to certain posters on here. On my bad days, I'm like you and it takes me hours to get over it, including all the gut-knotting, the tension and the blood pressure thing. I hate most of 'em and there's some I'd like to get rid of like yesterday. On my better days I remember I have absolutely NO control over how they play (much as I'd like to!) and how they deal with whatEVER's happening to them, good OR bad. And with any luck at all, I remember the thrills and the joy they brought me in past games/seasons and I move on, hoping that my beloved team (and their coaches) will find a way to get their s*** together and most of all, be proud of their effort. If any of us think they don't remember or have heard about the past glory days and wish they could reclaim them, then you are indeed a lost cause. They cannot be feeling at all good about where they are right now. Not ONE of them. They're not doing this to us personally. They KNOW they're doing it to themselves. And if you think you're going through mental turmoil, what do you think they're experiencing? No matter what. Knowing I have no control over their fate, they are my team and ultimately, I wish them nothing but the best.
