I don't necessarily see those teams falling either, but there's always a chance that it can happen. And there's always a chance that the Wings will pick up their end. What I'm saying is that I was pleasantly surprised to see how much closer we are to the top four than I thought. Last time I looked (don't really remember when) we had 52 points. I say things are looking up. And the crick in my neck is worth it.

I think it says something about their mindset, their history and their rep. It ain't exactly of epic proportions (yet), but their effort surely is somewhat heroic right now.

I haven't been all that crazy about his play but what I've noticed recently is that even if he still loses the puck too easily, he re-captures it quite well on other occasions where he wasn't originally part of the play. And sometimes, his passing in front of the goal is really quite timely.

I do believe one of the things that ticks me off the most is when Howard messes up, it is immediately labeled an "Ozzie move" by way too many posters. OZZIE WASN'T OUT THERE, GUYS. IT WAS JIMMY HOWARD. IF HE SCREWED UP HE DID IT ON HIS OWN. It is frickin' idiotic to lay THAT much crap on Ozzie. Thank you. I should sleep better now.

That line always looks like it's having fun.

Lately? LATELY??!! Are you s***tin' me?! ...i'm fine...i'm fine....
-
And we HAVE to have more hits than they do. Our guys are peelin'!
-
The start was hugely iffy. Crappy passing! But we definitely picked it up after that.
-
Hokay, you're right on so far!!

The "new" report from Hockey Operations said that Martell thought Ott had hit the puck again right before it went into the net which is illegal on that kind of shot. So now he (?) says that's why he first called it a no-goal. But he still added it didn't go over the line. Ken says it went to Toronto with Frick and Frack, the other two refs/linesman saying it was a goal. Toronto said they didn't see two hits, but went with the OTHER two refs' take. He said in essence that there was no way the other two could have called it from where they were (which most of the free world agrees with), and he almost rolled his eyes when talking about the two hits on the puck saying there's no way there were two hits. He was adamant. He was pissed. I loved it.

LOVED Ken's pre-game reaction to what Hockey Operations came up with on the Ott non-goal. He said in essence, "bulls***".

Promises, promises. Not a chance. Ain't gonna happen. Even if this one dies - which it won't because there will forever be posters who have to have the last word - if this one doesn't go on ad infinitum, a new one will start up approximately 30 seconds after tonight's game. I wouldn't be a mod on this board for all the pucks in Pittsburgh. Like anyone 's mind is going to be changed on the question of how s***ty/wondrous our goalies are. Especially when labels, questioning of motives and insults come into the fray. It only foments the issue more, nothing at all gets accomplished and it is indeed getting sickening. Now someone will no doubt respond with something like, "Well don't read it if you don't like it", or words to that effect. Guess what. Over and out.

Yeehaa! There's gotta be strength in numbers! And yelling mouths!

Why not try it? The only problem I foresee is that Nick would have to Be There when Rafalski shoots the puck into the feet of an opponent. And it WILL happen. But I like it partly because I think it's wise to sometimes shake up lines anyway. You'd like to think it would keep everybody on their toes (so to speak) more. EDIT: Hello?! You said PP, didn't you! What the hell. I still think it's a good idea. Certainly worth a try! *switching brain back off*

Hey, New Guy! (aka AARedWingFan) Welcome to this zany but interesting sports board. I just have this feeling your arrival is gonna bring us luck! Perfect timing! ...I hope...

Now this is what we're NOT talking about.
-
I agree. The whole interview. Couldn't hurt one way or another.

Just a little reminder here? Seems that on the one hand, many of you have said that the goalie is the last line of defense. That "he has to stop those". That it is usually mostly Ozzie's fault for Whatever. In fact, that seems to be the basis of your attacks on him (or ultimately any Detroit goalie for that matter.) Now, it seems a lot of you are saying "How dare he take credit for the success he had in the playoffs". What's it gonna be? Or does it matter? Another reminder. Sports reporters/writers specifically and with deliberate choice will take lines out of context to engender conflict and make the news more sensationalized so we will read it. This is a given. Whether it's fair or not, they consider it part of their job. Sure, Ozzie's statement was pretty dumb. But will we ever know how the whole conversation went? And under what context the question was asked? Do most of you care? I think not.

Thanks again for putting all this together. It just wouldn't be the same without your GDT's. I know it's not Turco's pic, but are those Turco's stats? Or is it way past my bedtime?! Actually, I wish he was playing for the Wild. We'd probably have a better chance of beating them! AHA! Fixed!

I agree with you about Stuart, but it would have been cool if Ozzie had made that save. And you're right when you say a goalie has to make some of those bailout saves, and he didn't. He could have had a better game. It would have been great if he'd had a better game. We might have won if he'd had a better game. But he wasn't in top form and he really could have played better. I'm sure his team mates would agree as well as admitting they could have done better too. But they are as a TEAM playing better and that's the name o' that game, eh? Thanks for letting me tag on to this post, SeeinRed.

My final response to you is that you chose to lump me into being nothing more than a "staunch Ozzie supporter" and your main demand is that I admit that Ozzie could have played better. That tells me all I will probably ever need to know about you and your take about other people's input on this board. Peace out.
-
Nor have you. Nor have you been fair in your assumptions of what I've actually posted here.
-
What you did do was specifically call me a staunch Ozzie supporter, in spite of the fact that I have said repeatedly there's a whole frickin' team out there playing well sometimes, playing stupidly sometimes, sometimes winning, sometimes losing. I AM NOT A STAUNCH SUPPORTER OF ONE SINGLE PLAYER ON THIS TEAM. I AM A STAUNCH SUPPORTER OF THE DETROIT RED WINGS. PERIOD.
-
THANKS for telling us how it really was there, and I think our guys looked pretty good to, from about 2000 miles away. I know there's hope. We're talkin' Detroit Red Wings here. I hope you had an OK time overall.

Kick ass, Marty!
