Harold is one of many on this board that I not only usually agree with but he states facts, he clarifies, he supports the Red Wings as a TEAM. Bottom line, he has perspective and he has history on his side. I hope he calms down and comes back.

Mantra of a staunch Ozzie hater: Ignore the fact that we had 51 shots on goal and got two out of them; Ignore the fact that there were very stupid penalties taken by players who should know better; Ignore the fact that we could not capitalize on four power plays. Ignore the fact that Stuart got played royally two feet from the goal. Ignore the fact that the third goal was a deflection. Ignore the fact that THERE ARE FIVE FRICKEN PLAYERS OUT ON THE ICE AT ANY GIVEN TIME. NOT ONE. Attack? Hell, no because I know it would do no good whatsoever. You all have blinders on and you, for whatever reason, IGNORE the whole game and zero in on the goalie. In this case and once again, OZZIE. But honestly? I cannot even yet believe the fact that many of you refuse to take in the whole game when you start laying it on ONE player. It is beyond me. And that's a fact.

I personally want to go with this. Especially the part about Oz playing angry. OH, how I hope it works.

I have mixed feelings about this. Most of the posters putting down Ozzie for his comments seem to think he's putting Howard down too and wants to be in charge. I don't see this anywhere in his statement. He only mentioned Howard in the sense that Babcock did the same thing to him last year. What I read is that if he's going to be helpful to the team, he needs to be played more. I believe he is right on. I agree it probably doesn't help to air his frustrations to the media, but I totally agree with what he says. And we won't know about how unfair it is to the team till we see not only how Ozzie does after a few games under his belt, but what Babcock does with his goalies. We need a main goalie and a backup goalie and both of them have to be prepared to play. That's just for regular play, let alone the playoffs. Yeah, Babcock should have the last word but I also think if Ilitch and Holland agreed totally with Babcock on his handling of the goalies, Oz might not even be making his comments. JMHO.

And when the team in front of him starts scoring consistently again, I'll have more confidence in them.

You've said it all for me. THANKS. It's almost as if he's trying to find reasons to get rid of Ozzie without even playing him enough. Beyond weird. And it's unfair to Ozzie and could be ultimately unfair to the team.

Agreed. Also how well Lids and Rafalski play against that line. If they can hold off Ovechkin, there's always hope.

Depends on how it's worded. Five goals in the first period will be blamed on Ozzie if he plays? I want to think the Wings can win this one, even if Ozzie is in goal tonight. Even if Babs in all his wisdom decided to finally put him in against one of the top teams/players in the league.

In the latest issue of the "Sporting News", Jeremy Roenick says: "They've played way too much hockey in the last five years." (I thought you just played the teams you're supposed to play?) "They're getting tired - the old guys are getting tired. They've lost some players here and there that made them strong. I think their run is coming to an abrupt end." Anybody know what Jeremy's up to these days? Do we care?

Ah yes! Saw it once at the Round Rock Express baseball diamond; once at a Sears store on the northwest side of Austin.
