a little off topic... Yeah, I remember when Dmac scored the hat trick in game 7 against Patty Whaaaaaah. Stevie was making fun of him in the post game presser. A paraphrase but it was somthing like " Mcarty scored 3 goals today, I think you have better odds of getting struck by lightning 3 times than him scoring 3 goals." it was priceless. Franzenstein frickin Rules. And I think the sky might fall or something, but on Franzen's first goal, when the puck came to Samuelson, I really thought, alright, puck to samuleson, logo hunter misplays puck, Avs clear the zone. But then, it was like, he threw a perfectly directed shot for Franzen to redirect past the best goalie left in the playoffs. Man, I have to say I didn't scream at the tv each time Sammy played the puck. Guess I'll be eating some crow as well. maybe not yet, it's early.

Yeah, his little video on espn's site with Hradek where he says Theodore is the best goalie left in the playoffs is now my cell phone ringer. I just keep playing over, and over again. Best news I've had, is from the espn recap "Quennville not expected to make a goalie change in Denver", awesome!. Makes my heart glow to know The Automatic Rebound machine will start Game 3. Woohoo!

What Bettman says is crap. He's not going to stop people throwing it onto the ice simply by threatening a fine to Al over swinging it. Al doesn't throw it. The fans do. That won't ever stop, and thank god for that. The NHL doesn't have to support anything. Just don't do anything when Al swings it. Just Like they've been doing nothing about it for the last 50 years or however long it's been. I hope swings it off the ice just he like he did for every time it happens.

My wife and I will be at the game tomorrow, cheering our f-ing asses off for our Wings. We did not pay the money and drive 3 hours to Dallas to watch the type of play displayed lately. I know the Wings will come out blazing, light up turco, and bury the stars. Go Wings

For those with Dish network and the center ice package, the game is on channel 403.

justtheducks, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. --principal from Billy Madison

I woke up this morning, barely able to drag myself out of bed. So great was the sadness, the depression, the heartbreak of the realization that the Red Wings Playoff run on 2007 had come to a painful end. There was confusion and anger as well. I had to ask myself "Self, how could it be over just like that?†I mean, before the Calgary series, lots of experts had us marked for losing, "we're too old, too soft", and we handled the Flames just fine. And again, when played San Jose, the most knowledgeable hockey expert in the world, stated over and over, and over and over, and over again, how big, how young, and how fast the Sharks were. His mantra "Sharks in 5......" haunted my dreams every night before that series started. Yet the Wings played on in the face of certain death and defeat and won that series as well. Surely, we'd at least give it shot against the "greatest Duck team ever assembled'. We knew they were good, with all world stud defenseman, goal a minute forwards, and a Goalie that hasn't ever been scored on. Ever, not once. Not even in practice. Surely, the Wings would take their chances on the ice in Game 1. But sadly, late breaking news came from the Commish on Wednesday evening. "The Detroit Red Wings have conceded their Conference final against the Duck of Anaheim. They have finally come to grips with the reality that rest of the world has known for quite some time now. The Red Wings are too old, too slow, and too soft to even compete against the invincible Duck. So in order to spare the pain, suffering and bloodshed of a 4 game sweep, in which the Duck would score 500 goals each period, and probably not even allow the Wings to get out of their own zone, the Detroit Red Wings have begged me to invoke the mercy killing clause from the new CBA, and allow the Red Wings to simply concede the series. Mike Babcock also wants to beg forgiveness for even considering his team might belong on the same ice as the Duck." So, there it is. Our season is over. Just like that. In the end, I guess it's for the best. It would suck to stay up late to watch the Wings get slaughtered in Anaheim. Oh well, at least my tortured soul won't have to wonder "what if...†I know for certain, that we would have been destroyed, reduced to the old, slow, soft, crying Euro-women that we are. Hopefully, this post will find other Red Wings fans that are inconsolable today as well, and be of some comfort. Maybe, we could get together and have group therapy or something. Do they make a hallmark card that reads "Sorry your team sucks, it's all for the best though...†Wait a minute. I just looked at my TV guide on my DVR, and it shows Game 1 between the Wings and the Duck is still going on as scheduled on Friday. Could it all have been just a joke? Just a cruel hoax? Could it be possible, that all the experts, all the talk of how my beloved Wings will get dominated, are all worthless conjecture? Could it really be possible that the only thing that matters is what happens on the ice? I guess anything is possible.......We'll just have to watch Game 1 and see. Sincerely, TiredofalltheBStrashtalkbeforethedamgameevenstartsinAustin

thank you, glad you guys liked it. I got inspired from the Go Ducks thread (I think) with all the "OMG, Giggy is 6'6", how can we possibly survive?". Dang I'm looking forward to the games. Cannot wait.

What happened to Samadelphia? was he banned? He said he'd be here when his predictions were proved wrong. Not that I need him (or her) to come back. oh well. Can't wait till tonight. Wings in 60 minutes of solid hockey tonight. Let's end it tonight

Non-Michigan fans: How did you become a Wings fan?
captainsteviey replied to Chaldean's topic in General
I'm from Austin Tx, and grew up watching the Redwings on ESPN. They were always on, and really ever since I saw a game where Yzerman scored right off the face off, I've been a diehard fan. Later, my family actually moved to Flint, Mi for 6 years. We tiried to go to the Joe for games, but could never get enough tickets for the whole family together. Had to settle for crappy Flint Spirit games. Though it was cool seeing Mike Richter play before getting called up to the Rangers. Even played a 2 seasons of high school hockey while I was there. We moved back to Texas after sophmore year in high school, but needless to say, I still live and die with every Redwings win or loss, and bled Wolverine blue. I even make my wife drive to Dallas every time the WIngs play the stars ( it was awesome winning both games here this season). Love this forum. keep up the great posts. Redwing Fan in Austin.
