Meech is in for Maltby tonight: http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...h_in_for_k.html

I think the fact that you get 0 points for losing in overtime will cause teams to play it even MORE safe.

Actually, the Pistons lost in Game 7 of the NBA Finals the season after they won the championship... Sure it's not the outcome us Wings fans are looking for, we'd much rather them WIN game 7. But still not a terrible follow-up season. (Sorry for being a dick, I DO see your point)

The NHL Should Change the Way it Shows its Games
Jamaica Jon replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
I hate the behind the net camera angle. They use it on NBC a lot during powerplays and it is just terrible. It makes it difficult to tell what's going on. The angle from center ice was pretty cool, but I wouldn't be able to watch an entire game like that. -
"Lidstrom Cap" for re-signing next year's free agents
Jamaica Jon replied to Icesurfer's topic in General
I doubt Lidstrom would mind. It's more of a respect thing on Holland's end. He doesn't want to offer people more money than the Captain/Best player without Lids' okay. From what I heard, Holland was going to ask Nick if he would be fine with making less than Hossa (which I'm sure he would've been), but Hossa stopped him before he could. It's not like Nick forced Hossa to take less. -
haha, this one made me laugh out loud. Great pic!

I just got mine. My mailing address is Ann Arbor, MI. My billing address is White Lake, MI (near Pontiac). My cover is NOT THIS! I am SO UPSET : ( In fact, it's the exact opposite. Hossa is a little image in the corner, and Manny Ramirez is the big picture...

My friend's dad runs a custom closet business in the Detroit area and apparently he just had a consultation with Valtteri Filppula. He will be installing closets into Filppula's Detroit area home sometime in the near future. These custom closets are pretty costly, I'm sure it's nothing for a hockey player... but do you think Filppula is banking on his new contract just a bit? : ) And maybe this is a sign (albeit weak one) that he's planning on staying in Detroit for sure. Why order closets if you're going to be gone in a month or so? Just thought I'd share my little bit of insider information.
-
Essentially, when you buy a home... there are already closets set up, typically with very little shelf room, or of poor quality, etc. Custom closets, however, allow you to be more organized: have more shelves, multi-tiered hangs, and other features that make much better use of the space. They are customized to your needs. You come up with a design and THEN the closets are created. Typically they are used in walk-in closets, but they can also be installed in normal-sized closets. I sound like a pitchman : )

I know he's an RFA, but it's still a possibility. IMPO: I have never expected him to leave Detroit.

Thank you so much Matt! Not sure what I would do without LGW.com!

[Off-Topic] Go Union Lake! (It's White Lake now) And yes, thanks and congrats to LGW.com and the Red Wings. This site is amazing! Not sure what I would do without it.

Confirmed, I work at a sporting goods store as well. We got the shirts in on Monday night for preparation.

The precedent the NHL set today is completely ridiculous. Turco slashed, hacked, punched and even tripped our players all game because he was "frustrated'... Ozzie get his stick out trying to prevent Lidstrom from being run at and that justifies a two-hand stick-chop? The NHL is basically saying that Homer and Filppula should've chopped Turco across the chest after he messed with them. Intentionally whacking a player with your stick across the chest should NEVER be okay... I don't care about the reason. I don't see how retaliating would "cost us the series" or even a game... Whether or not McCarty beats the s*** out of Ribiero really won't affect the outcome in my opinion. DMac hasn't even played in this series. AND it would be totally awesome.

I'd love to see this happen, but I dunno if Kenny will lock him up in a long-term deal after just 2-3 months as a Wing...

If we used a (Money Earned) / (Player Performance) system to rank agents, it wouldn't be subjective at all. I don't know that it would be complicated either, but it would definitely be tedious. I just think the game would be a lot more fun for agents if there was a ranking/way to get better players. GMs at least have the standings to determine their progress... agents need something too. I'm not volunteering to run the agent side of things, but I would be willing to help.
-
It has been mentioned that AGENTs will be ranked on player performance. After thinking it over, I think this makes zero sense. Agents should be ranked based on some sort of system that determines that they got the right amount of $$$ for their player. Maybe the rest of you can think up a good system, but something like Money Earned/Points (salary+bonus divided by player performance) would work. The thinking here is that if you can get more money for a player that ends up producing less points... then you are a better agent. (By points here I mean "fantasy" points, for lack of a better term) What do you guys think? Any better ideas? EDIT - this system would also work well in Booster's proposed agent ranking system. You could use your Money/player points to "pay off" certain players to jump ship to your agency.
-
I like it.
-
No. I don't think so. It would just make a ton more work for whoever's running the simulation. And then it would be too much like fantasy hockey and not "Can you do a better GM job for this team?" like is intended.

My Asst. GM for Minnesota is: ZackBelsky if it needs to be announced...

I think something like this would be a good idea. Maybe input them into EHM if that's possible... I don't really know. Although the only problem with this is that it would reflect the players stats in those specific games and not their actual on-ice performance.
