I am skeptical of that but I would LOVE to see that.

That's why they always post percentages in the first place, because most Joes will go "Whoa! I am impressed", but it really means nothing. Remember what Winston Churchill said about stats.
-
Did I key this into the Windows calculator correctly...we are supposed to score 300 goals this year? A (near) 30 goal season (again) by Holmstrom would be quite splendid.

Again, I loved Marty when he was in Detroit, but heck, the only reason I would want him for is physical and defensive play. I'd be hesitant to sign him for that task, given he's not had a positive +/- rating for the past four years. He's not what he used to be anymore, that's what it comes down to.

Easy answer: Schneider and Hasek (and in that order). You didn't even answer your own easy question, since you only picked one of the four. Come on, if you have to pick from that pool of four the answer IS, indeed, easy. Bertuzzi is too much of a gamble given his price/uncertainty ratio, and Markov can't bring nowhere near the production Schneider gives to the team.

No, I wouldn't. The time for signing aging players that may help us push towards a Cup is over. Sammy has a future in the team. Lapointe's time (as much as I loved the guy) is over in Detroit.

Of course at the mentioned game, all the people I saw on TV actually applauded (some even rose out of their seats) after the US anthem. Rest assured these people wore Ottawa jerseys. I have never seen another country's anthmem being performed on national TV in the US where the crowd applauded at the end.

If he can cut his rebounds/game in half and stop moving around too much he may be a game-stealer. He certainly was left alone by the Ottawa D for most of the final. Considering that he certainly was their finals MVP.

Well, congratulations to the Ducks. The Senators had a terrible Finals appearance -- they shouldn't have even won the game they did. I was glad to see Selanne lift the cup. And after Alfredsson's black out in Game 4 I sure as heck didn't think he deserved to take the cup first. Too bad he didn't have the guts to 'fess up an apologize.

...if you think that your team NEVER had any good goalies...aside from Sawchuk.

Hell yeah! He got that monkey of his back.

What the Wings must do to wing a championship next yr....
C-Dub replied to wings_fan_5's topic in General
Smart-ass answer: The need to win 6 more games than they did this playoff season. Otherwise, I am not sure that they need to change all that much. I am worried about our goaltending. Even if Hasek comes back for another year we need someone for the future. An intimitading defenseman would be good -- someone like Fischer used to be. Anyway, they had a great run and I don't think they are too far from where they need to be for a championship. -
I'll second that. Lang was terrible during the Calgery season for most of the minutes he was one the ice but really did a 180 in the Sharks and Ducks series. While Bertuzzi has scored goals I am expecting more from him. I know he is playing hurt and has hardly played all year but damn it, Yzerman played with a broken foot and showed heart. Showing a high level of motivation has nothing to do with how many games you played all year.

I am all for being lose at game time and ready to perform but I would rather see a tight practice to get focused on the task on hand. Of course I ain't coaching anybody and never will, so what do I know.

I am extremely anxious for the game to start. Still got several hours of work left but all I can think of is that dang game tonight. I hope they come out hitting and playing well in the first few minutes. It'll set the tone for the entire game and quieting the crowd with an early goal, or some good hits, or both will make a huge difference. There is no room for error tonight.

I am not sure if I am happy to see them goofing around. The time for goofing around is over. Goofing around is the kind of penalty Datsyuk took in the last 2 mins of the game or Franzen not clearing the zone. They gotta play the perfect game tonight to bring the Ducks in an uncomfortable Game 7 at the Joe.
-
While Lilja and Franzen's plays didn't lose the game, they sure can piss you off. Man, losing a game like that! I am almost more pissed off at Datsyuk though for taking that penalty. Way to NOT keep your legs moving to block the guy. That was almost a bigger blackout than Lilja's... And then of course the lucky bounce goal, man! The hockey gods most really hate us.

I understand that opinion differs on this, but I believe the Niedermayer didn't deserve the 5 Min + game misconduct. After the initial replay I was thinking right away that they got it wrong by sending him off. If anyone, Pronger should have gotten that penalty and while it was a rough play, I don't think it warrented a 1 game supension beyond the in-game penalty.
-
While I don't care much for Pronger and think he's quite an a-hole, I didn't think the suspension was warrented. Pronger should have gotten a 5 min major, + 10 + game misconduct and Niedermeyer should have gotten nada. That would have been the right call and it would have been over with.

I am not saying it's a good point. I agree that even if Lang had been better towards the end we still would have lost the game due to other reasons. However, for the money Lang makes and the amount of skill and experience he has, he presents himself quite terribly these first four games. I'd rather see a minor leaguer play his heart out than Lang's lackluster style of play. It's bad to have people with a lack of attitude on the team during playoff time.
-
I have actually been quite impressed with Pavel. He plays hard -- much improved from past playoff stints. Today's loss was an abundance of sloppyness (Chelios waving his stick around as an excuse for playing during that 5-3), bad luck (Lebda's reflection to make Hasek look like a loser), and lack of luck on our side (that chance Filppula towards the end, geez!). Game 3 was a total dud but today's game showed quite a bit of improvement. Game 3 I was just disappointed -- tonight I am depressed being reminded of what a great chance the Wings had to take the game, if they only had played at 100%.

You must have watched a different game. Lang played emotionless and turned the puck over in key moments. Did you see his escapades towards the end of the game?
