Datsyuk's da bomb...nuff said.

It's been nothin' but tough times for us... I mean....only 2 All Stars on the team ...only in 2nd place in the western conference ...not the best on BOTH offense and defense Life's tough...in Red Wings country.

Come on, now! We are on a great run the past 10 games or so, we lead the league in goals for per game and are middle of the pack (13th) in goals against per game. Our PP is the best in the league (statistically) and if anything would worry me it is our ineptitude to do the same quality job on the PK on the road that we do at home. We are the best home PK team and the worst road PK team. Now how weird is that...

Quite a few stores here. My "general" beer store is Central Market because they carry the imported German beers in the pint-sized bottles. Good selection of German beers. Goody-Goody has quite a good selection and there is another liquor store near-by a friend recommended for beers that I have yet to check out. Once I am throw my six-pack of Full Moon. Never had it before and I am not liking it that much, especially compared to the Sam Adam's Winter Ale. Blue Moon is pretty nice at times though! I don't recall ever having tried another Barleywine but "Fischer", a french ale has a winey taste to it and about 6%. Most Barleywines are 8% and up though, so I think it does not qualify. I will look out for Blanco now and let you know if I find it!

Not sure if it has been mentioned already, but I was in San Francisco over New Year's and by recommendation got Anchor Old Foghorn, which is a Barleywine Ale. WOW! One of the best beers I ever had. It seems to be hard to find in the common beer stores, even in SF. There is a bar near Fisherman's Wharf that has it on tap...great beer. 9% Alc. though, so don't overdo it. Also tried Anchor Liberty Ale, which is a pale ale and it was pretty good. Prolly not worth the $6.75 I paid for it on tap but hey, gotta try the local beers and really, all the Anchor we get in Texas is Anchor Steam and the seasonal Christmas brew.

It's no secret that Ozzie needs a good defense to clean up his rebounds and bail him out (no pun intended). He'll make a few stellar saves at times but otherwise he will just be solid. So....either we start playing defense as we did last year OR we need us a new goalie. The way we are playing defense right now Ozzie won't be below 3.00 GAA any time soon. I doubt Conklin will be any better and well, Howard would be worth a shot but they gotta take a good hard look at him now and not in March.

Going to the game tonight. Woo Hoo! Hope the Wings will do well.

Not in particular though I don't mind them and I sure like me some classic rock. The person below me had carrot sticks for lunch today (hopefully among other things!).

The Official 2008 Green Bay Packers Thread
C-Dub replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in Other Sports
Agreed but you definitely need to add Driver and Jennings to that list. Jennings is an absolute stud this year!! And I would even lump Nelson in that category, because with injuries to James Jones and Ruvell Martin, he has really stepped in nicely and is doing a good job. The running game is my biggest concern right now on offense, and well, the defensive interior (DL, LBs) overall. Indy is going down this week!!! We gotta start winning at home. -
As far as looks, this one is much cleaner and nicer. As far as usability, I like the stats section better, and beyond standings and stats I don't use NHL.com for much.

I was at the game and everyone sitting around us was confused as to why Peca got booted. I disagree with the suspension but as an experienced player, Peca has to know better than to touch the official. I still think the suspension and even him getting booted from the game was way over the top.

Any explanation as to why the rule excludes goaltenders? I get the playing coaches or managers part but why goaltenders? They are players like everyone else...

Great to see Fischer back with the Wings and involved in hockey. I hope he has a long career in the league in whatever functions he can support and feels passionate about. I'll always remember him as the guy that took it to Hartnell with one punch.
-
Alright, I will hang on to it. I got the NHL shop to refund me the $55 for personalization PLUS shipping costs, so I am a pretty happy guy. Will likely get me a Zetterberg or Datsyuk jersey down the road here.

Alright, so I got this item from the NHL shop and I am disappointed. Let me not hide that from any potential buyer! The jersey has never been worn and is brand new (tags removed). The lettering on the back though (Lidstrom and #5) are heat-pressed and the material feels...somewhat rubbery. It looks alright but feels weird. The Jersey has the 2008 Stanley Cup Patch plus Red Wings logo. Both are the usual tackle twill style and the numbers are raised, just heat pressed. I mainly bought this for the Stanley Cup patch but am trying to find a potential buyer so I can get some money to buy me another Lidstrom Jersey -- I am just disappointed in the quality of the heat pressed numbers. This is a men's Large size. It might be a good fit for a child that might outgrow the jersey soon anyway or might tear the thing up within a year. If I don't sell it I will keep it hanging in the my bar since it is at least somewhat of a collectors item having the cup patch and #5. I'll ship it to for a reasonable price, but expect to get at least $120 out of it. I paid $185 for it. I figure this is a tough sell but hey, at least I am honest with ya and if you are planing to buy a NHL shop premier jersey anyway, this one is cheaper and you might beat yourself up less than I did knowing what you'll be getting.
-
I might just buy this one and keep the one I have hanging in the bar. One to wear, one to hang.

Always been a big fan of Barnes myself. Living in Dallas, I can tell you he's a fan favorite here with the Stars and for good reason. Hard-working, down-to-earth player that produces and brings a lot of grit.
-
Yeah well, why dont we have a big fat warning on this web site not to order from there. I figured the NHL shop would give you good jerseys but it seems that is not the case. I am certainly sorely disappointed.
-
I reckon NHL jerseys use a bit more material (it's debateable...a jersey in my size still uses less than an O or D lineman I am sure!) but that doesn't cut it for me. $320! My Lord, the NHL is making a KILLING on these. I bet it costs them less than $40 to produce one of these.
-
I blame the Russian Five myself. Was a huge hockey fan in Germany that had season tickets watching all home games in Berlin. I watched as much NHL coverage as I could and man, the Russian 5 was just a blast to watch.
-
The jersey is made in china one way or another, right? Perhaps these are the ones they make after hours that the NHL gets no royalties from. Not impressed with the RBK jerseys here either. I paid $180 for my replica, the Captain's "C" plus number on the back have a rubbery feel (They are heat pressed) and the white number's on the red arm sleve feel a bit more like fabric. Either way, it looks pretty cheap but damn it, it's almost $200! I swear the Starter one I have was a replica back in the days and it looks 100% better and the feel is much better. I am not dropping $320 on an authentic jersey, that's just plain robbery. On a side note, my 100% authentic NFL jersey cost me $175...how come NHL jersey's are so much more expensive??
-
I second that. Lay out some ground work, similar to the NFL. The NFL is vague calling it a "personal conduct policy". It comes down to them reviewing it and deciding what is acceptable and what isn't. These instances are easy to spot and should be swiftly dealt with.
-
Watching the video again makes me wiggle back to my initial stance that Bertuzzi should have never been allowed to wear a NHL jersey again -- ever. This kind of conduct is inexcusable.
-
There is absolutely no reason to have a third jersey, other than to make money off of questionable merchandise.
