    Turco Over-Hype

Nope, I think Turco deserves much of the praise. Afterall, you could argue that the reason the Wings are shooting so bad is Turco's fault. They know if you hit it just one goal he'll get it, so you better go top corner all the time.

    If I was Maltby...

If Maltby was really classy he would have picked it up and tossed it to Ott or Turco himself. Turco clearly deserved that puck for the monkey he kicked off his back in JLA that night. Whether you like it or not, even as a Red Wings fan you have to tip your hat to Turco's performance that game. Of course that is easy to say not being on the ice, playing, shoving, being slashed and hooked and having your momma called bad names. Perhaps Maltby should have just skated off...

WCF Game 6 GDT: Red Wings 4, Stars 1

I'd at least give Babcock the for having some guts if he actually puts Lilja - Lebda on the ice. Chelios has been super unimpressive this series and looks more like a liability than a contributor. Everytime I see 24 and 22 on the ice I cringe...75% because Cheli doesn't play well in his own end and 25% because Lebda is VERY agressive carrying the puck at times and I can just see a Stars player stripping the puck with nobody but slow-bow Cheli to beat to a breakaway...

    Should we lose game 6....

Save% ain't everything. The Wings usually don't give up too many shots on goal. GAA is for more important. He gave up 2.5 GAA in the two losses, but the offense only scored 1 goal each in these. Do you honestly expect Osgood to get 2 SO in a row??? You gotta be real, Dallas is a good team. Anyway, if anything our offense must pick it up the most, because we have been shut down in the past two games and it isn't all Turco but our forwards freaking shooting right at Turco's chest or next to the goal. Don't get me wrong, Turco has played great but we have been horrible in getting some serious shots on goal here as of late.

If he's 38 out of 43 at the end of the game, that's fine by me.

What, you are not ready for a 2 OT, 1-0 victory like against St. Louis in 1996?

Why are we looking flat right now?

Yeah, baby! I would add to your list that while we are cool on defense and it seems to work, it has NOT work well the past two games. More often than not it is a Dallas forward coming out of the corner winning the battle for the puck then us, and it is not always their premier line doing it either. We get stuck way more frequently in our zone with Dallas cycling (the past two games) than our forwards pinning Dallas in their own end. We need to push Dallas' D to the brink because once you start cycling it is more often than not a goal or a penalty.

Would New Arena Attract You More?

The day will come when we get a new arena, and sadly, it will also be called "Corporation XYZ Center/Place/Arena". Which sucks and really takes away from the history of the team and its connection to the city. Who's left with still a meaningful arena name? NYR with Madison Square Garden and JLA...can't think of anyone else.

    Should we lose game 6....

True that, though he didn't look particularly dominating in either of the two losses. That's really not giving Osgood much respect. For example, last game he did everything to keep us in the game to give us a chance to possibly win. The two goals he gave up could be stopped on stellar saves, but again, if you leave your goalie to his own fate on 2 on 1s and break aways, I don't think you can expect him to just make the save. Last game, the D let Osgood fend for himself and the offense couldn't have sunk the puck in a soccer goal. I credit Osgood for even making that game a close one... Generally Hasek is more likley to steal wins than Ozzie but Hasek has had his fair share of issues living up to expecations (which are enormous, of course) in the playoffs. LET'S GO WINGS!!!!

    Should we lose game 6....

Hasek was pulled after too losses because he did not play well. Osgood will remain our goalie because even though we had 2 losses, he did play very well in both and gave the team a chance to win. You can't expect your goalie to stop 2 on 1s all the time. Osgood's been almost flawless at this point, he had a semi-softie here and there, but overall, he has made no gross mistakes and has played exeptionally in quite a few games. Osgood's the man for this playoff run, end of story!

    Which Players Must Lift?

I am never quite sure what you guys mean with this. Yzerman was never the one to yell at people left and right on the bench but we all knew what kind of leader he was. What do you expect the role players to do? They certainly play better than most of the other team and I agree they should lift their game even more but when it comes to "louder voice", what do you mean? I don't think many of us here are in the locker room to really know how loud their voices are.

    Who's gonna press it?

I saw that as well and was surprised they commentators didn't catch it. The Wings looked pretty pissed but hopefully more pissed at themselves than anything. Dallas will beat us everytime if we play like that.

    Helm, 43

He's certainly making a strong push for it. And he has proven that if the Wings need to bring up another forward, he is up to the task. With increased playing time he may have a good chance to make that jump but I would be careful with assuming that the games he's played so far make him a given on the roster starting next year. Time will tell...

    Which Players Must Lift?

The whole team has to step it up, minus Osgood. Ozzie has been pretty flawless so far, or at least as good, if not better, than what you can expect out of him. It is not that two or three players slacking or or two of three players of Dallas suddenly stepping up has cost us two games. Dallas a whole unit has stepped up. Every line is out there playing with tremendous energy, everytime Morrow is on the puck he fights for it like his live depends on it. I missed something like that from our team here of late. Also, it appears that almost all four of Dallas' lines can get us caught in our own end with 30 second plus cycles that cause us to give up goals or take penalties. For us, it's pretty much Dats and Zetter that do this, and to an extend Hudler's line. The Drake line actually got a few cycles going last game, but heck, nobody on that line could score a goal if it was empty.

Dallas Columnist: Turco Better than Osgood

Because he weighs more? I mean, really, what do you mean with that? The answer is, "No."

    What can fans do?

Too much review slows the game and takes teams out of rhyhm. I find the placement of many TV timeouts already bad enough and too numerous. Putting increased replay pauses on top of that is unnecessary. Refs will make mistakes just as the players do. It'll happen, it'll all even out in the end, and it's part of the game.

    Who's gonna press it?

Arrggghh...don't starting thinking about NEXT year....
  18. C-Dub

    Who's gonna press it?

I am thinking about it but will hold off until the first 10 minutes of game 6 on Monday. We seriously gotta come out, take a lead, and make a statement on both ends of the ice. Btw, Homer running by the Dallas bench and punching a few people is NOT a statement.

Cheli, it may be time my friend

They had two between game 4 and 5. Ain't gonna get much more in the playoffs unless you sweep a team or win in 5 games.

All Is Not Well In Hockeytown

And Sammy about the worst. I am not sure what it is with that guy but he makes some of the worst decisions when it comes to "Should I pass, shoot, or dump it low." He appears to be trying too hard, just play dude!

    Bettman stands by his officials

Standing by your officials and admitting that they made a mistake and blew a call are two diferent things in my books. The NFL has many times admitted their refs made mistakes and they will talk about it and make sure it doesn't happen again. Standing by a ref that blew a call seems to have little positives. I don't argue the fact that refs are human and will make a mistake from time to time, especially in a fast paced game like hockey. I expect them to review calls though and to admit that they made a mistake and will work on not making it again. There is nothing wrong with that kind of statement.

    Bettman stands by his officials

Bettman is such an idiot. Educate me on the rule but Holmstrom stands outside of the crease. Who gives a crap if Turco decides to stick his stick (haha) between Homer's legs? He can stand there as long as he wants because it is outside of the damn crease!

Wings staying in front of Dallas net for Game 5

I think the next game will give us more freedom in front of the net. After that blown call the refs are likely to be a bit more lax on the goalie interference call. For example, they will only call it like when Homer actually TOUCHES the goalie, or actuallys skates THROUGH the crease. How about that!
  25. C-Dub

An idea so this doesnt happen again

I vote no on that one. I like that every GOAL is reviewed but the problem with Homers interference call is that the goal did not count. hence, it cannot be reviewed. Just like in the NFL, where you cannot challenge penalties, the NHL would implement a similar thing. If you could review anything we'd be there for a while. Hence, the only thing worth challenging would be a goal and they are reviewed already anyway. There is no need for challenges then. There are too many issues surrounding challenging a play like Homer's, BUT, the fact is the ref should have seen that clearly Homer did nothing and the goal should have counted. Like they used to say in the beer commercials, "It is a shame and a mockery!"
