Not living in Canada I am sure that CBC delivers the picture in full HD, but Versus chose to pick up the "cheaper" varient. That's just a guess though, perhaps CBC always looks that bad. Color was non-existant and most players faces looked washed out, especially on bench shots. Another reason to be pissed about last night.

Totally disagree. For one thing, Yzerman was never the kind to get into peoples faces, he was a smiliar type of guy to Nick. I am sure both Nick and Yzerman have (and had) tremendous leadership in the locker room, where it counts. I am not sure what you expect from the Captain on the ice. Nick is the only guy that makes sense wearing the "C" right now, he's clearly the heart and soul of the team.

Yes, because we are a better team. Of course, if we don't play up to our potential, well...

Never have, wish I could. See my post below about potentially it just appearing less loud on TV. Believe me, if I was there I would be loud as hell. I had season tickets to hockey in Berlin, Germany, went to literally all games, standing room only with a 1.5 hour drive one way. I didn't come to sit and sip champagne.

It sure as hell doesn't come across that way on TV. Granted that JLA is old and perhaps the way mics are set up to carry the noise for TV is better in the newer arenas, no clue. Whatever it is, it seems whichever place we are vistiting is WAY louder than anything at JLA, at least on TV.
-
That's a lame excuse. Perhaps if the majority of fans in attendance would realize that playoff wins are tough to get no matter against who, the team might do the same. I don't understand how you can go to a playoff game at JLA and not be loud and excited. I guess majority is corporate guests these days...

Of course when the game finally came on, the Wings were dowm by 2 and the broacast ain't even in full HD. Now why the hell would they show us Brian Engblom's ugly head in full HD during intermission and then pick up the crappy non-HD broadcast. I am sure CBC has it available in full HD...
-
That's very strange, does it say it is blacked out? Versus is a national broadcast, so unless you have it on another channel, you should be able to watch it on Versus. I am in Dallas so all Stars games are blacked out on Versus but there is always some local channel carrying it. If you can search on your channel guide, I would suggest trying to find it somewhere else.

LET'S GO RED WINGS! :siren:

Let's hope shaking things up with pulling Hasek helps a bit. Haven't seen too much of it yet but then, we still have one period left. Osgood looked determined and I hope that 3 goals is where Nashville will stay. A fourth goal and it's over. A fourth goal and it will be a 7 game series, hinging on us pulling ourselves together back at the Joe.

I used to get all kinds of local FSN on DirecTV to watch out of market games. I am in Texas and got to watch games on FSND all the time...that is, until Center Ice came along...damn you Center Ice!

Changes in recent years in playoff scheduling just flat out suck. It used to be that you had game one night, next night off, game one night, next night off...etc. THese days, you sometimes have back to back games and then 2 nights off and it switches several times even within one series. Way to get a rhythm going...
-
I like the defense where they don't just stand around waddling their sticks left to right staring at the guy that has the puck. That one seems to suck every time.

Avery had to lift his hands and dance around because he is so damn short, he knew Brodeur could otherwise look straight over his head. Other than that, it looked damn funny and while I would be screaming bloody murder if he did it to the Wings, I found it within the legal limits. I doubt it will catch on though, since you are effectively taking one player out of the PP. The reason you screen is not just to distract, but also to see the puck being shot and having a chance at a deflection. If someone shoots Avery in the back a few times, he'll likley a reconsider. Still, it was f-ing awesome that he did that!

I don't recall seeing another hit quite like Kronwal's but please remind me. Don't get me wrong, when he laid that hit on I was jumping up in my seat cheering but once I saw the replay from the reverse angle I was like "Crap, that ought to be more than 2 minutes, if not a fine or more." He clearly lifted his elbow and the skates left the ice rather nicely. He also made contact with the guys head. Without looking at this as a Red Wing fan I'd clearly call it a dirty hit. I would be surprised if the Preds won't send a few guys after Kronwal in Game 2. That might be an advantage for us. EDIT: Now the the picture was posted I remember that hit on Draper. Yeah, that was dirty too but it just didn't strike me as severe at the time. It SHOULD have been a penalty no doubt though, perhaps even 5 Minutes for boarding.
-
That's really besides the point. You look at the hit and once you judge whether it asks for action or not you look at the previous record of the player to determine just how serve the action should be. In any case, I thought Kronwal was lucky to only get 2 mins for the hit, it was absolutely out of line. I wouldn't be surprised if the league at least fined him.

Better buy me that Lidstrom jersey before next season because that looks BAAAAAD. I think ultimately this is a big mistake... EDIT: Damn April 1st.

Lol! I hate NHLN...damn capitalism. I am out of Detroit and used to be able to catch games on FSN Detroit but NOT anymore this season thanks to NHLN. I don't have enough moola or time to watch every game on NHLN and it's not worth the money if you watch about 1 game a week. Playoffs are for free anyway...

Another race like Malaysia or Melbourne and Massa will have to answer a lot of uncomfortable questions from the Ferrari bosses. Two races in the books and two races not finished because of driver error. Sure, his car died in Melbourne but I am confident that him being involved in two accidents during that race did not help the car in any way. The guy has the talent but he sure is inconsistent...

Caps are playing Thrashers tonight. Ovechkin will hit his 60th goal tonight. In any case, pending inhuries he should have no issues making another 2 in 7 games. That would make him the 19th player in NHL history to reach 60 goals in a season. Thoughts?
-
Sure! How about "F&%k the Ducks."
-
Second that. The Hart is for the MVP of the regular season. The Conn Smythe is for the MVP of Playoffs/Finals. Ovechkin clearly is the reason the Caps are to be taken somewhat seriously this year.
-
Welcome to Capitalism. If it sells it will be produced.

He actually took a small cut in pay, nice! Nick's the man!

I thought I had seen that but I went to our players page and there Lidstrom is listed as a UFA III for 2008. That made me nervous.
